I see on Trek's website they have the specs for each size S-XL and they show the geometry differences when the Mino Link (flip chip?) is in either setting (High/Low). Which setting is better for XC and climbing? High or Low? Also, which setting does it come in from the factory?
coming from years full sus mtb's...i recently bought this bike as a compromise to also do some single track bikepacking...not expecting so much from it, i was incredibly surprised at how versatile and good this bike is allround and especially on descents. fantastic bike in my opinion
Guys please help me i need help im stuck in between a fathom29 1 and trek roscoe 8 please help me which one should i go with for long term and if u guys have any suggestions like a better option let me know please
mine comes with e thirteen drive train and i didnt even ride it properly 1 month old bike and its already at the shop to replace drive train dont buy it with e thirteen that is the worst component ever the damn shimano alivio is 100 % better
Looking to get my first mtb this summer in attempt to pick up a new hobby. A nice hardtail is in my budget, lots of little trails on Long Island. Going to mountain creek Saturday too, is riding hard tails on downhill parks that big of a deal?
Nice review I just bought that one and ride it the last two weeks coming from riding my other bike for two years Giant Trance Advance pro, so far the comparison appear to be the giant a bit more heavy but more confident in the descending but I am still making adjustments to shock and suspension as well as tires pressure the only add I did to the original setting is putting cushcore to the tires since where I ride is very rocky and I am heavy person
Did Trek downgrade the crank on this bike? I ordered my Gen 6 on Friday but the Trek site says Deore crank and shows that in pictures but every review I’ve seen show it with an SLX crank. I wonder if they downgraded from SLX to Deore?
they come with 3 versions deore, slx and e thirteen witch is the worst option i have trek 1 month and drive train is broken i didnt even ride it properly i ride it like 2 times in forest on flat soil other stuff is ok e thirteen sucks dond buy it
I’ve just bought my Roscoe 9 Olive/Sand 🫒 in size Large. Will a 34T crank increase its speed on the flat? I bought it for exercising on and riding in comfort as I’m 280lbs. I wanted a hard tail that was comfortable and stable but I’m not interested in flying down the side of a mountain. I know that must sound weird but I’ve ridden plus size bikes for years for the comfort and stability they bring but they’ve usually got more gears ⚙️ and can fly quickly (cheaper models) Anyway thanks 🙏
Just picked up the Marlin 8 Gen 2 and loving it, I had a trek in middle/high school (hate I don’t have pics/can’t remember the model) but it has reignited my love for riding…and taught me I’ve gotten mega out of shape since. The only thing I think I’m after is a dropper post, the standard is way too tall and I’d like to be able to adjust it on the fly.
@@goodluckchrisclark I'm a bit confused when it comes to the gears. the higher and lower gears. I have a trek marlin 5 gen 3 and the gears go lower at the higher numbers and higher at the lower numbers ???
At 5:45 you talked about faster bikes but you mentioning it a bit fast. Is there a video where you talk about fast bikes on roads that can do gravel as well? Edit: Maybe not only gravel but light trails as well. Could I also add medium as well? For sure not the harder trails, that's out of the equation.
I have one. The SRAM derailer sucks. Out of adjustment even when it is in adjustment. The dropper thing was done on purpose to push people to move up to the more expensive lines.
I have had a marlin 6 for 6 months. It is a good entry level bike no doubt. But the main components are literally the lowest end possible. I’ve upgraded the tyres, full group set and forks. Happy now :)
Marlins are a strict "do not buy". Absolutely zero reason for a bike to come with a straight steerer tube and outdated geometry these days. There are many other hardtails out there at a competitive price with better design and features in the price range.
I strongly recommend purchasing the Marlin + instead of the powerfly. Powerfly battery rattles inside the frame over bumpy trails and feels like a heavy bike on the trails. Test ride both first.
