i dont care for new bikes or e bikes. i have a 2012 nukeproof scalp that still works perfectly so why upgrade?. JUST MAINTAIN YOUR BIKE UNTIL IT CANT BE MAINTAINED ANYMORE

Have you been on a brand new bike recently to see how it compares to a bike that's 11+ years old? I had a pivot mach 6 released in 2013 and it's not crazy different that my current bike released in 2021. Geo and wheel size would be biggest difference I think.

@@brandonmurrayrealestate9246 yes. The brand new specialized enduro bikes. Forget their name. They flow better but my nukeproof takes hits and overall subtleness better

The bike industry got greedy, and predatory. I don’t care that everyone else did. I hope they suffer a consequence significant enough, that it reminds them of that era in which they decided to conduct the themselves as such.

I somewhat agree, they overstepped and thought it was a forever change

I completely agree. As an industry insider, we’re as evil as everyone else. Profit motive unchecked unravels the fabric of our relationship to consumers

The SRAM T-type is new and significant. Frame design peaked 20 years ago. Now we just alternate between existing frame designs. You'll always have your wack-ado Yeti inifinity or Evil Reconing designs that go away after a while. The next thing to change will be wheel size or axle size. That's start the havoc all over again.

T type is interesting but not a significant change for most, still way to high priced plus im unsure i want to charge more batteries

Well I’m kind of looking to bug that Marlin+ 8 if they make it available in USA and they don’t overprice it.

Maybe the bike industry and consumers both, would better off if there WEREN'T constantly 'new' bikes being released.

I agree, maybe less pumping out new options, colors ok but rushing tiny changes seems silly

We dont need more shit and new bikes, we have nice bikes. Let's ride them for 5-10 years, fix them up and only buy new bikes when we actually need them.

The season is so short where I live(Started June 10th this year, and first snow was early october, and as I'm typing this october 27th it is right about the edge of more snow.) and I own a 2022 Pivot Switchblade, so I reckon I'll be more than fine for a long time. I've decided to just keep it and never sell it, and so I can just do regular maintenance and upgrade parts as the time comes. As the bike was a bit pricey to say the least, it doesn't hurt to postpone any new purchases as the bikes definitely aren't getting any cheaper.

Mountain bikes have reached their peak quite a few years ago, I have a 2019 norco fluid fs1, it only has 120 rear and 130 front with a 66.5 head angle, but it handles everything I throw at it just fine, fast rough tracks at the local bike park, steep double black downhill tracks, and its super fun to ride too, pretty much any relatively modern mountain bike can do pretty much anything, its just certain types of bikes are better at certain things, so what is there to improve really? the last few years the only thing they've been doing to try and keep sales going is changing the geometry to make them slacker, but now they've gotten to the point where trail bikes and enduro bikes both have downhill bike head angles of about 63 degrees, which is stupid if you ask me, because they've basically turned every bike into the same bike just with different amounts of travel. Back in the day a trail bike would have trail bike geometry, and an enduro bike would have enduro bike geometry, they had different geometry for different classes of bikes, but now trail bikes and enduro bikes basically have downhill bike geometry, personally I don't want a bike with a 63 degree head angle, the steering is slower, the front end feels vague on flatter corners, that's why I'm keeping my norco for as long as it lasts, for me its the perfect balance, slack enough to handle any double black, but not too slack that it feels slow and vague on xc tracks, I actually moved from a 2017 trek slash 9.8 to the norco, and it was the best decision I made, every time I see a new bike review its just the same old, they're all much of a muchness.

My Pivot Switchblade has 66.5 degree head angle and 76 degree seat tube angle in the high bb setting which I'm running all the time. Nothing extreme in relation to industry standards, but it's like a mini enduro machine in my eyes.
@benjy288
@benjy288 11 месяцев назад
@@a8f235 Yep, but its enough for basically everything a normal person rides, barring maybe redbull rampage stuff, the whole industry standard thing is just a way to keep selling bikes, they need to make changes in order to justify the new model, and there's no engine on a mountain bike to get more horsepower out of, so that basically leaves the frame, so they change the geometry every few years and claim the new model is better because of it.
