No, not everyone is a black belt, although I can see from the video that it might look that way. The black belt, brown belts, purple belts, and greenbelts all look very dark in this video. There are also some white belts and orange belts that I see. All of my seminars are open to all ranks and styles, and I can assure you I have no interest in diluting karate technique.
Unfortunately the bunkai has nothing to do with this kata. All kata are a symbolic posture. Judo is the most practical when it comes to bunkai because every kata in judo is basically a real technique with the exact application. Shotokan or other schools kata is totally out of reality you have to make up stupid things to explain. You don't even need to know the kata to apply these technique.

I really like your job David! Just for that kick, tell the students to kick from up to down, not just in a a circle, and no way down to up. But i m shure you allready did it (video is short)
This was actually their 1st day with this technique. It is often difficult to get people to bend their support leg, especially if they have previous experience from another style.
This is awesome video. I live in Russia and have bern practicing Shotokan karate for 35 years but I am amazed by the info in this video. It's like a gulp of fresh air. Keep up good work, respectable sensei!
