i like making videos about stuff but i don't want to focus on making content, it's hobby for me, I don't have any social media so just contact me through other means
Misato's an interesting change for sure. I feel like the ADV dub highlights her girly side, the high pitched voice and her stubborn snaears at Ritsuko when she mentions Kaji. While the Netflix dub actor sounds more mature, showing her as a woman. The monotone delivery of everyone at Nerv kinda works out but the drama in the ADV can make it so much more inticing. Asuka is still amazing but im really digging her ADV dub, having her be more hysterical and throwing insults in german it helps give her more character. Also Gendo in the ADV dub is just fucking amazing I can't explain why.
Low-key stumbled across this manga by accident on reddit (cause someone translated all of it) and I had zero expectations. Now its easily one of my favourite manga of all time. It is tragic to me this will never get an anime, when all the isekai trash gets like its 13th season. Sigh... [Note: It has nudity and violence, click 'read more' for info]. [To those who dislike nudity (I personally avoid such content as much as I'm able): There is nudity on only a few chapters, Chapters 1,2,3 and 92. _(Details: Page 14/15/39 of chapter 1. Page 8/21 of chapter 2. Page 2/3/4/9/10 of chapter 3 and Page 18/19/20/21 of chapter 92)_ I'm convinced the nudity in the first 3 chapters was for the purposes of reeling the male audience into a series that they otherwise would not give a chance. And the other one in chapter 92 around page 18 may be due to the fact the Ieroh flashback waned in excitement a little bit. Basically bait for male audience. The rest is just violence/gore and a non-stop revenge crazy manga against colonizers lmao. So I would say its for young adults and above, Age 19+].
I always thought the nudity in the beginning was to show how strong Angie was. She's a sex worker so she's comfortable with herself, like that part were she's playing poker and she doesn't care that she's stripping. but your right that it's only in the beginning as if to tease the male audience.
i personally prefer the netflix dub over the original. most of the cast members were casted better than the original and they fit better with their own characters
6:33 Outdated? Didn't this guy literally watch his friend get airstriked and die a horrible painful death right in front of him? That radicalizes people.
I like adv's dub more because they make the dialogue flow better. And this is coming from somebody who watched the netflix dub first. With exceptions for Kensuke and some other side characters I think all the ADV voices are better. Gendo is tied with Netflix and Adv for me tho.
This felt lackluster, tbh I wish Natsuo would eventually reflect on how she treated Sanae and Ganeko instead of walking past them or bullying them every chance she gets. However I think the relationship between Natsuo and Haruka has a lot of potential and should be explored because those two definitely have something going on. 🧐
I really like the second half of the TV! *[SPOILERS]* Yes, it's not as upbeat as the first half, but that just means we get to see these characters interact in different situations! We are Putting The Characters In Situations! The found family from hell, on the run from a library gone bad! They have History and Trauma and honestly the back stretch of the show is just such a ride I can't help but love it. There's a stretch in there that's about 90% plot twist by mass. They're dead! No they're not! All their memories from Hong Kong were fake! Who cares? Wait, maybe they were real? Junior betrayed us! Haha, as if! Even separating the characters makes for a lot of great moments: Anita and Yomiko having to work together despite literally everything about them and their history, Maggie having to turn Nenene in to save her sisters and Nenene being fine with it because she'd do the same thing, the sisters' reactions to finding out what Dokusensha did to them and all coming together by accident and deciding that it doesn't matter and they're sisters anyway, just everything in the house in the countryside! It's tropey, it's shlocky, it's melodramatic and I _LOVE_ it. I *revel* in it. The drama! the suspense! The past fucking things up for everyone involved! *_The character writing._* Then again, I'm one of those sickos who prefers FMA 2003 over brotherhood so maybe I just like watching my beloved characters suffer. I do tend to like pretty gloomy stuff :P
"... Level ends and we never see her again" wow. You never played nocturne did you? Pff dude, she betrays you cuz of mind control. Then she convinces you not to try to end an entire town. Also we see her a few times at headquarters. ... Be-lair... what did you read the wiki for the whole game? The English pronounciation is bi-lye-are or bi-lye-al
Manga UK were the best! Their all time great IMO is Dominion Tank Police. The dub completes it. Plus the first Project A-Ko (the sequels were dubbed in Canada and were nowhere near as good). And, of course, the amazing Cyber City OEDO 808. I think somebody already mentioned it, but this dub did get a DVD release here in the UK, in a box set of the two films. I have it.
If you were to ask me, if you want the full Evangelion experience, then the original Japanese version is the best option. As for which dub I prefer, call me basic or bias(as it is the first time I experienced Evangelion), but it has to be the Netflix dub. Part of me feels that a good number of complaints directed towards it has to do with bias or that people prefer the ADV dub. Nothing wrong with that, but there’s this part of me that feels that it’s better to judge it as its own merits first than comparing one over the other considering that both are different. Now, with this in mind, with the clips you’ve chosen, I personally think that the Netflix dub flows better. I know people love the ADV dub, but it’s not for me. For me, I feel like certain lines in the ADV dub feel too corny, but I consider the script second fiddle. The voice acting felt too stilted, too overacted or a little bit of both, in my opinion. Not gonna hate on the actors. I’m sure Tiffany Grant is a swell person, but can’t say I’m a fan of her Asuka voice. Certain parts almost feel like Ghost Stories where they’re not taken seriously, which feels like it doesn’t mesh with Eva’s tone. Now I’m not defending Netflix here, I feel like removing Fly Me To The Moon was disappointing, & they have done dumb decisions before. Like the whole JoJo Part 6 fiasco. & I can see why people like the ADV dub. I have liked older dubs before(for instance, i prefer the Streamline dub to the Disney dub of Castle in the Sky in spite of its dated issues). I’d much take the Berserk 97 2003 dub over the 2016 dub. To me, I just remember the Netflix voices more. Casey Mongillo as Shinji, Ray Chase as Gendo, Ryan Bartley as Rei, Carrie Keranen as Misato, Stephanie Mckeon as Asuka. The Eva pilots sound actually young, & I was still invested. I tend to prefer more natural performances, & the script is second fiddle to me as long as the performances elevate that script. & while I’m not a fan of the ADV dub, I’m sure the ADV elevated tons of people back in the day. Bottom line, there’s no wrong way of watching Evangelion. You can watch ADV & get some 90’s Anime cheesiness, you can watch the Netflix dub for a modern way to experience a classic, & you can watch it how Gainax intended it to. In Japanese. There’s really no wrong way to watch it. We all have our own ways of consuming media, like how there’s foreign language dubs everywhere now. & we should appreciate both, I feel, But what the hell is up with the Amazon dub, like *what the hell?*
I vaguely remember the live-action movie, it was weird, and at the end Japan was a Mad Max like wasteland, with what remains of her as a statue, kinda. Also watched the live-action "Casshern" movie, which was also very weird, but better, there's some good character-drama & music. What connects them both? The very strange visual effects!
I think the voices are better in the Netflix dub, some of the the lines are weird, but I think it sounds better. I didn’t watch Evangelion as a kid so I don’t have any of the nostalgia for the original dub.
the new blu ray release by GKids has the new dub but sadly not "fly me to the moon" the only way to get that is to find the original dvds which can be pretty expensive. and if you want the rebuild dubs you just have to find the blu ray releases by funimation
You might have to install certain video and audio codecs, what media player are you using because the open source version of MPC-HC should have LAV pre installed
thanks guy! I have finished the anime today and I like to search for good reviews, and I thought I would't find anyone but hopefully you have done an amazing review that covers the most important parts of the anime. So really thanks for doing it. I'm so happy to see people interested in this anime despite the time it was released. I really needed to release my feelings after finishing it and this video made me feel they could rest in peace. So thanks, I feel a lil more relieved now knowing I sealed an unforgettable memory. Wish prsperity for you and your channel!!
I really like the anime so much, made me fall in love again and i don't know why adults skipped the island arc, i pretty much didn't skipped i, it made me cry and enjoy the anime. I loved the romantic interest and this show got too deep and compassionate as well that i got so jealous when Nadia fall in love with that tribal leader lol, maybe because we Latinos runs romance and the compassion in our veins. I think this anime is for everyone and not for immature people.
i could get the audio for the rebuilds to work but i am unaware on how to get the visuals to synch up or how to get them in the first place. and i am kind of a dumbass when it comes to anything computers.
if your using MPC there's an option under Audio Switcher called "Audio time shift" you can mess around with that to delay the audio to what you need. i'm not familiar with any other media player other then MPC.
What sucks is that the ADV dub is unable to be acquired legally, unless you either hunt down the old DVD's for a small fortune, or you can find the limited edition blu-ray box set that came out a few years back from GKids, which included both the ADV and Netflix dubs of the TV series and EoE. This is probably out of print now too, and could command a serious price especially since it's the actual blu-ray remaster from Japan. It's unavailable on any streaming platform, and if I had to guess why, it would be that Khara probably hates that dub and wants it gone, but were willing to allow it to come back in a limited form. It probably cost a good amount of money to get those rights again.
What's sad is that Funimation wasn't able to dub Thrice Upon a Time. The original ADV actors come back, but something about their enthusiasm and/or the direction of their voice acting is definitely off. Not to mention they changed the VA for Mari, who did a fantastic job in the Funimation version. The new one is far too subdued, and lacks the flair and enthusiasm. This is almost certainly because Studio Khara apparently hated the Funimation dubs of the rebuilds, and made them re-do 3.0 from scratch.
