I make videos of subway/metro maps of the cities around the world.
If you are a subway enthusiast or simply want to see how cities develop their metro systems, make sure to subscribe to this channel!
I am planning to make the videos simple and entertaining for anyone can enjoy even if they never had an interest in the topic or have never been to the city. I hope you enjoy my videos :).
If only the Chuo Line was an elevated line and could run through the Kintetsu and Keihan lines. If the Sennichimae Line could run through the Hanshin and Kintetsu lines, it would be a cash cow by now. The Tanimachi Line, even if it was meant to relieve the congestion on the Keihan line, should have connected to the Keihan station via Johoku Koen-dori.
Lived in Shenzhen 2015-2023 and used the metro hundreds of times. Other than any extensions from July 2023, I was on EVERY line...it was a goal. The SZMC did a great job, with the exception of needing to have a "driver" on a couple of the lines, particularly line 12. I was able to get video from the front of the train after they opened the line, but the opportunity to be at the front was quickly removed for the trips on the line.
I really don't like how since the Hammersmith and City line was formed off of the Metropolitan line, the District and Metropolitan lines don't have any stations linked together anymore
Moved to DC in august and i love the metro! The blue loop would be cool lol also hoping the loop includes a stop at JBAB so i can literally never drive to work ever again lol
There are also a network of 5 BRT/BHNS line in Paris that is u/c....the network is called 'Tzen'.... Thus, completing the network of both trams, transilien, rer and metro even more
well... no. With no plans for future expansions or stations, most likely by 2040 we will have the same exact shitty grid we have right now. That is, unless porteños wise up and start voting differently.
Next you'll need to do the Transilien suburban rail system. That's over 1200km and it overlaps with a lot of RER and Intercity services, but it's another important backbone to Paris' transportation network. I don't know how far you'd want to take it but Intercités is also an important part of the Isle De France transit network. Isle De France has something like 60% the rail service of Greater Tokyo, but only a third the population, so it punches way above its weight per capita.
Croydon trams began operation in 2000 and after 24 years has expanded very little. Shame we could not replicate the success of the Île-de-France tramway in London.
I just purchased the sound track on Apple iTunes! The animation in this video isbrilliant. Thankfully there was no human narration. I think Washington DC Metro may be the best Domestic Metro system in USA. In North America, Canada’s Montreal Metro takes 1st place, Washington DC 2nd and then NYC’s Subway due to it’s expansive multi bourough network reach
cork ireland says they'll only manage to build 17km or tram lines by 2040 like come oooon (i know the population is tiny in comparison but it also means less disruption caused by contruction)
It is amazing that a city with an already extensive Metro and RER network is building Trams left and right and in the US, they discuss for 10-15 years to build a 4 mile Tram line on a straight road that is like 6 lanes wide.
North South Line - Large Intestine Jurong East - Kranji = Ascending Colon Kranji - Sembawang = Transverse Colon Sembawang - Marina South Pier = Descending Colon
A suggestion: at the final of the video you can put stats of every line: km and number of stations. I love how you make the videos and all the details that you put in.
Interesting first phase of development as a concentric structure, complementary to a radial metro network, and a second phase as reinforcement of radial connections.
Nice vid, not sure if you realised but your background for metro lines is a bit problematic as you made line 10 finishes at invalides, line 8 branch to go to boulogne, and the line 13 is split where the south goes to montparnasse with the old colour of the line 14 ^^'
