You're awesome! I enjoy watching these videos when I have time. When I first started playing a long time ago, I used the whistling technique. Even today. If I'm listening to another artist and I like the song, I'll whistle to it, but with my own unique phrases or lines to it over the melody and beat. No rules. Part of the whistling is part of my voice. So if there is certain phrases or habits that I do without much thought and whistle to, the song conforms to my style and to what I like. I'm concerned about preserving my voice and own identity when it comes to playing any instrument. It's a fingerprint to my work. Some people speak with a foreign accent, others have a southern accent and others have a northern accent. We all are communicating with our voice, but with some slight variation to deliver the message. Whistling over music with not much thought, will let your internal voice shine from within. Another tip is to record your whistles over melodies, then you can go back to them and retrieve what your inner voice was saying and transfer them over to the guitar.
Tomo Making those beautiful tones , Really making it Cry and sing with a Chooo Choooo World Class tomo your genuine love for it can not be replicated your a blessing Sir Have a Great Day !
Tomo is easily one of the best rhythm guitarist in the world, dude is absolutely AWESOME!!! I’m definitely gonna study him to learn how to get into rhythm playing!
Hi Tomo , your kind energy and enthusiasm for music is part of why I enjoy your guitar playing ! You’re an amazing guitarist . The message you spread of positivity and to help others and be kind to yourself is something we all need to hear . Some people in the music industry focus on becoming the “best musician” or making a lot of money . But I believe that beautiful music comes from your heart . It’s important to keep positive and always believe in yourself! Of course we all need to practice , but without a positive mindset it might be hard to play guitar every day . Thank you Tomo !! You’re awesome :)
Thank you so much! I am positive all the way! Become a better person who plays pretty good! Money making... that's part of business/promotion = important! No Best, No absolute, No Prefect! Unknown! That's why... so much fun! Thanks for sharing! You're very welcome!
Hi Tomo, there are 3 main chords in the rhythm pattern, which you play twice, the 2 minor chords and the slash chord. The 1st time you play 4 passing chords, then you repeat the same minor chords and slash chord, and add 6 chords rapidly before ending on the minor chord you started with...lol So I will say, (not counting the repeating chords) 16, I counted the rhythm of what was played and listened to the chords as you played them. Now I have to decide the voicings of the rapid 6 you played...lol
Tomo’s book and videos are the best resource that really train my ears, I have a lot of courses but they ignore the basics. I love how practicing shell chords and rhythm guitar, triads really allow me hear the chord change and play the melody. And I play much cleaner than I used to. Just trust Tomo, do the basic things everyday, 1-2 years your musicality will greatly improve.
Thank you so much! So happy to hear that. The foundation is the key! Easy to just show what they are... but you cannot apply things to music. Simplicity & Limitation ... I love! Please join my Guitar Wisdom. I teach a lot more details on those lessons. Yes! One year of a lot of efforts will change a lot!
@@TomoFujitaMusic :)) my Japanese not so good, but I actually spent like so much time last night just figuring out the chords from my ear! Was actually really helpful, especially hearing root chord Emaj7, it put me in the right direction!! Thank you so much for all of your wonderful videos, I would not be nearly as cool without all of the awesome stuff I’ve learned from you!! Cheers, Tomo!!
Do you think Matteo Mancuso is an exceptional guitar player? The reason i ask is, ever since after seeing him play, for me, i feel like no other guitar player compares to his vast amount of knowledge in music and style of playing 😇! Am i wrong? Thank you. Keep on rockin' 👍🎸
Amazing player! I met his father too. His techniques are really well prepared & his ears ...so good! Anyone can get that technique part but musical ear part is very hard! A lot of efforts & consistency. Thank you!
I’ve tried that amp and it’s beautiful. Mark Bartel is an acquaintance of mine and he’s an amazing person. He has made an amazing contribution to music.
Let's face it Tomo . . . The REAL tone comes from the Amp, not the guitar . . . What Amp are you using? That will tell the story. You must admit there is little, if any difference between an old Gibson 335 and an Epiphone Sheridan . . . . eh?
1967 Gibson ES-335 (All original) One Control BJF-S100 One Control Beth Reverb Grande uomo Guitar Straps D'Addario PURE NICKEL EPN110 (10-45) Pickboy 1.00 TF signature pick Providence Cable E205TF
@@TomoFujitaMusic . . . Thanks. So you are using a boutique amp . . . What does the old Gibson 335 add to the sound that an Epiphone Sheridan. I have 45 guitars and will admit that I don't have the best ear, but I fail to see that a "vintage guitar" adds anything to the equation.
@@davidwang4364 You're very welcome! Not expensive amp. Small solid state amp. No worry! Good thing you don't notice! Just one good vintage guitar is good! Try a Gibson LG-1 from 60s or early 50s. Amazing!
@@TomoFujitaMusic glad my old ears are still ringing well. I was close. 👍. Thank you. Have a most wonderful weekend. I’m waiting for some D’Addario DuraGrip 1mm picks to be here soon. I don’t oft use picks and was tired of looking for some. .
@@Jack.Waters Good job! Fun to figure out chords! Last part I played A7(b13) then I played Dim7 chord from M3,5,b7,b9 of A chord. Cool! I play with fingers, pick.
Thank you, Tomo Sensei! Triads are VERY, VERY useful. Once you learn them all over the fretboard, you'll know exactly where the scales/arps you need are: 1) Add the 7th to get 7th arpeggios. 2) Add the 2nd, 4th, 6th, and 7th to get the complete diatonic scale. 3) Add bass note for easier ways to play more sophisticated chords: Bb triad over C: Bass: C note + triad: Bb D F = C Bb D F / R b7 9 11 = C9sus 4) Superimpose triads you know to get upper tension/extensions, for altered dominant sound, like this: (Example: Eb triad over G7 chord (G B D F) + Eb=b13 G=R Bb=#9 you get a G7#9b13, which is an altered dominant scale sound (7th mode of melodic minor). This means you can just play the triad to get that altered sound.
What a great review and fantastic playing. The guitar sounds great. Need to check it out now. :). Wish it had a in built tuner but that's a minor gripe.
