Can you play G D Em D triads inversions on top 123 set strings? Each triad has 3 inversions. Root Position (R 3 5), 1st Inversion (3 5 R) and 2nd Inversion (5 R 3) so not's too hard to learn them at all. Let's see how much you can play triads.

Hi Tomo, Thank you for everything! I can do that. i have practised triads but I have 2 problems! 1st i can't really arpegiate so easily and be so fluent when I try to hit the triads and put rhythm. i get a bit lost and slow! Second problem i can hear when I play the triads the next one before i play it but i cannot hear clearly the 3 notes! If for example without looking someone play to me an invertion i am not confident that i will find which one it is! You are the best thank you again.

You're very welcome! Great to hear that! Good job! You can do it (play arpeggios on one string first then other choices) slowly. You can sing them as Do Mi So / Mi So Do / So Do Mi... no guessing.. try to know & hear exactly those notes. Slowly! You can do! Thank you so much!

Thank you for sharing. I teach online subscription video guitar lessons at Guitar Wisdom. Not free, but it's affordable. This way you won't waste your time at all. Free internet... so many information from anybody and each topics are so at random and I don't think anyone can improve steadily & correctly in my opinion. I make each videos as if I am just teaching individual private lessons that's why my RU-vid videos are not so popular as other RU-vidrs... but I am not expecting any numbers. I am expecting to comfort even one more person. Guitar is so good! Guitar can make you to be so patient, be humble & be kind! I am so thankful to guitar & people like you! Thank you so much!

Mr Tomo Fujita, The day i discovered your channell and your approach changed everything for me about guitar. Thank you very much! I have a little question for you. What would be the next step of this exercise? Should i move to the B-G-D strings or other string sets and do the same thing or should i do something else? I assume you have wonderful lessons on this at guitar wisdom but due to my country's currency i cannot afford it right now. Thanks for everything!

I love these triad lessons. Thank you, Tomo. I can do 25% to 50% (on a good day) maybe. I have been working on these triad basics slowly for 6 months. It is so helpful to remember we must know: 1) note names - 2) intervals of the inversions - 3) do/mi/so, and to listen and hear each inversion. Thank you for offering these fundamentals for free, Tomo. They are a great foundation and gateway to Guitar Wisdom.

When I play triads side by side just like you show in this video I can correctly sing the next triad. But when I hear a triad i cannot tell which inversion it is. For example if i closed my eyes while watching this video and stopped when you played a triad I wouldn't be able to guess. Does that mean I cannot hear it yet?

Very simple! If you can sing it, sing them Do Mi So / Mi So Do / So Do Mi and super slowly to thing what intervals are you hearing in that moment(?) Do not look at the fretboard & don't think any shapes! You can hear them part of it but not everything! So more detail work!

Ibanez doesn't seem to make the AZES31 in left-handed form. The closest thing I can buy to that is the AZES40, which doesn't have three single-coil pickups -- it has a Humbucker on the bridge pickup, and two single-coils in the other two positions. And it costs $100 more. 🙁

I am at 100% on this. That's because I've been practicing my triads horizontally and vertically for all keys (including sharps and flats) almost every day for weeks/months. I was inspired to do so after watching this RU-vid video by some guitar teacher. I forget his name. Japanese American dude, teaches at Berkley. Cool guy. My improvisation is still pretty shit to be honest but that's because I don't currently have the discipline to follow the rest of Tomo's advice. Hopefully I'll find the motivation to do so eventually - it took a while before I was ready for the triads so there may come a day when I'm ready for all the other stuff too.

Thank you, Tomo Sensei! Triads are VERY, VERY useful. Once you learn them all over the fretboard, you'll know exactly where the scales/arps you need are: 1) Add the 7th to get 7th arpeggios. 2) Add the 2nd, 4th, 6th, and 7th to get the complete diatonic scale. 3) Add bass note for easier ways to play more sophisticated chords: Bb triad over C: Bass: C note + triad: Bb D F = C Bb D F / R b7 9 11 = C9sus 4) Superimpose triads you know to get upper tension/extensions, for altered dominant sound, like this: (Example: Eb triad over G7 chord (G B D F) + Eb=b13 G=R Bb=#9 you get a G7#9b13, which is an altered dominant scale sound (7th mode of melodic minor). This means you can just play the triad to get that altered sound.

I have a question: what do you think about doing that 15 64 .. should people learn that in all keys or just like mostly normal guitar keys like G D E A ..C... also what do you think about doing that through the cycle of 5ths.. maybe that's.. stuff people didn't have to do, idk THANKS!
@TomoFujitaMusic
@TomoFujitaMusic 3 месяца назад
That's okey too. Any chord changes that you used to hear from any famous recording. Why do you think the cycle of 5th? Where did you get that idea? You can do anything you would like to hear overall. No rules!
@TomoFujitaMusic
@TomoFujitaMusic 3 месяца назад
You can even do ... 1 6m 4 5 ... whatever you like!
@snuffelsuf
@snuffelsuf 3 месяца назад
@@TomoFujitaMusic .. I think another RU-vidr told me about that...to .. but if you go through the cycle of 4th or the cycle of fifths then you wind up doing keys that the guitar doesn't use very at all... which makes me wonder that I don't have to learn everything..idk
@TomoFujitaMusic
@TomoFujitaMusic 3 месяца назад
@@snuffelsuf RU-vid is fun! but there are not all correct information. Whatever you think good, you should try it. Don't worry about what others think. Your feeling is more important! No need to learn everything. Less is more!

I teach guitar as well but I only teach the alphabet note names and the note numbers. Why do you feel it's important to learn the solfege system? It's just as easy to sing the numbers and the numbers have more meaning than the solfege words.

Thanks, Tomo. This is inspiring. I have a PhD degree in IT but guitar. What confuses me is that I can understand all these things but cannot see the big picture and cannot really use them. When soloing, I more or less do 2 things. 1)Strictly plays scales that should be played. or 2) Forget about rules but follow my heart. The 2) sounds better but may make mistakes and sounds odd occasionally. The 1), it is always in pitch but does not like music. I have been stuck on this for a few months now.

You're very welcome! Your mind is figuring out so much before you are mastering these in depths. Because you are way too smart! Guitar playing and to be a great guitar player, important key is not expect too fast! Be patient! I do following: 1) Learn chord progressions more 2) Follow chord tone, triads etc 3) I always looking for any good melodies and rhythm essence. You are just using information around music. In this case. 1) G Major scale on one string approach. Just one string. Maybe E string. 2) Before forget about rules... need to follow triads! then go for FREE! 3) Learn foundation & mix with feeling!

Being too analytical can be a detriment. [From experience.] You really need to just relax and listen. For Triads it may help. The inversions do have order and rotate. R35 35R 5R3 (for now -they are always in one of those three configurations) GMaj will be GBD- BDG - or DGB (find those notes on every string 3 set, 456,345,234,123) So when you go vertically the note you lose you need to find on the next higher up string. It may also help that Mi to So is also a Third. It is all very mathematical. But don't play mechanically. Like building a radio antennae to exact specifications it will only work at that frequency in the formula. Playing guitar needs embellishments to give it flavour. To make any Triad a minor just drop the Third a semitone. Don't learn patterns. Learn the Notes. Seek William Leavitt - A Modern Method for Guitar:1-2-3 Complete ( a Berklee Book that is taught at Guitar Wisdom) Best to you and Play Hard.

@@Jack.Waters Hi Jack, thanks. I actually learned and am still learning A Modern Method for Guitar: 1. I just feel that everything in that book can be understood in great depth, and it is very time-consuming to learn what it intends to deliver rather than just play the music sheets. Another reason making me slow in leaning this book is that I did not learn ‘staff’ previously.

@@Jack.Waters Thank you for sharing! Triads are so much fun! Yes! Very mechanical yet need to be played with emotion, tone and sound! More dynamics too. Yes! Do not memorize shapes. Learn the sound with super slow process. Thank you so much! Just a little thought can make more better guitarists!
