I finally watched this movie and one thing I found myself so just…confused about was Queen of Hearts’ distaste for Red’s style like…what about it was so outwardly offensive and disobedient to her? Cause she’s wearing the same colors and honestly has same general vibe as all of Wonderland we saw, or does she not like the splat of white belt?? Or does she not want her in pants??? Is it the leather??? What is wrong with the outfit that goes against her??? I think just. A much simpler and clear way to show Red rebelling through fashion would’ve just…make her reject Hearts. Make her primary color black with spades or clubs as her card suit of choice, give her red roots with dyed black hair even just. If her style is supposed to be a manifestation of her acting out against her mother’s control it should be a clear showcase of it cause when her mom is red and the guards chasing her are red and when the world is red and when her name Is Red…her wearing red doesn’t feel like any type of rebellion
RU-vid randomly recommended this to me. You were clearly having so much fun and it made it fun to watch. Please tell one of your favorite fanfics. I need to find something to do with my HP nostalgia.
Yeah, My Boyfriends Pretty Cool, but not as cool as me. Jegulus & Wolfstar It's an actor au, that's told through both dialogue & social media posts and it's so good! I'm not a huge fan of chat fics, but this is absolutely top tier!
i was going to say writing communities are symbiotic, we feed off each other positively. i have so many writing friends and a whole english department at my uni at my disposal. we actively want to read each others stuff and edit and give advice. if someone cant find anyone to edit or read their work i think they need some friends
Like, writers are one of the few communities you can join and spend next to nothing. Uno comes with the Xbox and friends come with the writing community.
Love this! I feel like the backwards lengths LO took to make everybody not related kind of really muddled some relationships. Honestly at that point why not just make it so Gods don’t have parents and are just spontaneously created as new aspects of the universe are created. In the original comic, booze exists before Dionysus does, but what if he just kind of appeared when humans invented it? It would match how Gods are created by people in real life. Maybe when seasons started happening in the world’s infancy, (maybe Chaos or Gaia are creating new things) Persephone just came out of the ground or something? And they all just call each other mom or dad or brother or sister because that’s what their relationship dynamics are like. Maybe Demeter found Persephone and raised her, causing them to refer to each other as mother and daughter. Hades, Zeus and Poseidon might’ve just stumbled upon each other and got really close only to drift away later
There's so many ways but it's something that definitely requires like, actual focused world building and not a pantser mentality. And it feels like a lot of webtoons/manwa just go full speed and don't edit the actual story. Giving a million and one plotholes
@@EltaninIsNotRecorded Yes, it makes me think that they asked the designer to just go as closely as possible to the Snow White marketing appearance with the bright yellow and all.
The hair color changes Evie has really makes me think of this one book I read when I was a kid where the main character was from a place which was so depressing. Constant rain and smog, everything was basically just smeared with a grey filter. To the point where when she was taken out of this place to somewhere just bright and sunny, she took a shower and literally washed away the gray. Like her hair, which she thought was just black, was actually Green. Anyway I just like whacky natural hair colors, especially as a way to show a character has innate magical talent (witch Evie my beloved <3) so applying logic like that to her is a headcanon I like instead of that implied canon Hair Dye. And in a similar wavelength, the idea of Mal’s hair being naturally purple but gaining these stronger and stronger blue tones as she’s exposed to a world without magic being snuffed out, letting that Hades Fire Blue, that demigod blood bubble to the surface, is a fascinating concept to me. Anyway. Hair color as a storytelling device is Fascinating
Your restyle ideas for Bridget’s wardrobe is especially my favorite. Her character and pink and white aesthetic stole the movie for me! Gosh, I wish the ball happened, so we could see a dress like the one you showed us. 🥺💕 While I like that the characters have a main color throughout their hair and outfits, I feel like the designers should use various shades of that main color as well as a little bit of other colors, so it would balance out the outfit.
Yay! I love your style videos, they're always so much fun to watch! Ooh, I know, could you ever do a Bratz fashion video? Not like a total redesign, but just for fun? Pretty please?
I absolutely love all these concepts but how do you plan to keep these people’s identities ehret from the audience? They’ll have the same face sculpt or actor depending on the medium so the audience would at least have a very strong inclination that they are the same character right?
I think, part of it is having the hair color changed and having the masks cover up more of their face than the eyes. Something more similar to Gambit from XMen. If people wanted too, they could definitely find our every detail and know identities based on voice/actors, but it's the immersion quality since we're watching from Marinettes pov, nothing gets confirmed until she's more ready for that knowledge
omgggg i'm just a few seconds into the video but I had to leave this comment already cause your hair is sooooo gorgeous omgggg those colors work so well together holy shit!! Sorry I was just so pleasantly surprised when I opened the video I had to say something xD now let's watch.
Evie is, IMO, the clear MVP of the trilogy, in all senses. I love her development, her personality, her fashion is flawless and her wigs are the best and of course, Sofia is a powerhouse. I'd die of happiness if she ever returned for a solo movie or something. She is my favorite character, for sure.
I also think it's hilarious that yes, Mal looks absolutely gorgeous with blonde hair, but still looks wrong haha. And while I do love Dizzy, man, I'm sorry, but D2 Mal's hair is the one I like the least in the whole trilogy. I hate it. I hate it hate it hate it. She still looks gorgeous, of course, cause she is Dove Cameron, but this is the closest Dove Cameron ever came to looking bad, you know? I hate it. Overall Mal's fashion is OK, Evie really steals the spotlight in that part. Still regarding D2, yeah, yellow is not her color, but her purple dress on the D2 finale song is probably my favorite Mal look. After that, in D3 her fashion is very solid. As you said, she was closer to knowing who she was during that movie. Obviously love the blue she gets from it.
Watching your video made me realise what I don't like about D4's fashion. The wigs are of course so ridiculous they don't even deserve a mention but yeah, the fashion overall doesn't even compare. That was a great video mate, you had me hooked from the beginning. See ya!
I love the live commentary, it's really fun to see others engage with my thoughts as they're happening despite time. It's actually super faded if you can believe it! I'm was supposed to dye my hair this month but I'm keeping the pastels for a while longer
@@EltaninIsNotRecorded I was so engaged in the video that I just had to comments in real time haha It was really insightful and made me realise things about Descendants that I haven't before. And of course, was a reminder of how fucking talented Kara Saun is. Damn that woman is good xD And as a hair dyer myself, yeah, I do believe it's faded! Sometimes the fadind brings out some truly beautiful colors that you never thought of before. Last time my purple faded to lighter purple with light pink and white strands. I liked so much that I only dyed again weeks later when it started to get yellowish and browish. xD But that light green fading into white with a light pink hue just worked so well, when I opened the video I literally gasped. xD
it ends with us is fr my opp, coho needs to be jailed for affecting the irl so badly making girls think her books r "quirky" and how " normal" relationships should go
The fact that neither the book nor the movie has trigger warnings is truly concerning. A friend of mine , who was a fan of Blake, told me to go see the new rom-com with her and I had this visceral reaction to it, I had to get out to throw up and cry. After that I saw some of the interviews for this to see if they talked about the heavy themes and the only one who did was the director who is also the main antagonist is kind of surreal.
Justin Baldoni seems pretty down to earth and cool, and I'm very much down to support anything else he does if he treats all topics with the same level of seriousness that he has been for this movie
Like, I'm so down for hard topics to be addressed in movies. They do...have to be marketed accordingly tho XD And thank you, I'm glad that my hair car rambles are more helpful thank Ms Lively's
Yeah, turns out that "Ends with Us" Romanized "SA" And it's not really good. It's super bad, but your videos, and it's not really great! Your videos, on the other hand, are perfect! I always love to see you talk about alt fashion, it's so nice to hear about!
@@EltaninIsNotRecorded Oh no, don't worry, I totally agree with you. I also didn't watch the movie, but I also don't want to see SA, it would be too much for me to handle
for the lore behind pinterest banning words. Parents would allow their children to have pinterest acc bc, it's pinterest and thought of as really safe and sometimes the girls would post selfies. Somehow these selfies would attract the attention of a bunch of pedos on the app who would message these girls, send explicit photographs, and even make mood boards dedicated to the selfies of minors. As a result, pinterest had to weed out a bunch of these pedos by not allowing any media of children or child affiliated media on the app and that includes lolita since the origins of lolita is from a book about a young girl who is vicitm to a pedo
Kara Saun the designer went into detail and you can tell she put so much work and love into the designs. She made them to fit the characters and always tried to reference their stories. Even when put in a corner such as getting Ursula's daughter who obviously most would give a purple aesthetic too but Mal already took purple so she got creative and used turqouise because of Ursula eyeshadow.
I really liked this video, this is my first time seeing your videos and I’m about to watch your one about Rise of Red. I don’t know if you take requests but if you have any insight I would love to see your thoughts about other characters costumes specifically Uma and Harry as they’re my favorites and Carlos and Jay too since they’re part of the core four. If not I completely understand, just want you to know I really enjoyed the way you speak about this topic,I love Descendants.
@@EltaninIsNotRecorded I’m so glad to hear that. Harry is my favorite but the relationship between the two of them is so complex in my opinion even though so little of it is shown in the movies. I haven’t read the books so I assume it’s talked more about there, but just in the movies they get it across really well. The actors do such a great job at getting across their history and how much they care for each other. Can’t wait to hear your thoughts!
Been watching your descendants content ever since you popped up on my feed that week the new movie came out. Love hearing your thoughts on the indepth storytelling through fashion. Your recent monster high video was great too. Just subbed!
Fashion is so fascinating and important. It's got a massive socio-political history and it's so intertwined with visual stories that it's so subtle (ideally) but so important
Have been a bit nostalgic for the show these few days (I refuse to watch it again, but I still reread some old fanfiction), so the timing was perfect! I'm not sure if this idea would work with the timeline of your story, but I think it would be interesting if when Lila goes after Adrien, she dresses in creams because she's imitating his old self and doesn't understand who he really is now.
2:34 if you search for "lolita FASHION" it might show up but if you want to look for something more specific like "gothic lolita fashion" it won't work
