Calling Arrilog the industry standard is just pure marketing hype brother. There is no such thing as indistry standard log gamma. This profile was specifically made to be a b or c-cam for the arri cameras, nothing more. VLog will do just aswell if not even better. The amount of bull spread by camera companies today is astonishing. The biggest one being "ISO 12800".
GH7 >>>>>> S5iix Unless you absolutely need to push the ISO and can't use extra light...that'd be the only reason for the S5IIX for me...bokeh is whatever, videographers should rarely shoot under f2.8/4 (which is f1.4/2 on MFT) so even if you buy like a 85/1.8 for FF, you'll use it at 4-5.6. If you buy a 42.5/1.7 for MFT you can use that at f2-2.8 easily for same DoF and you get extra light for your sensor
True! Not a ton of lenses at an F1.4 though and not any zooms at that. The closest you get is an f1.7 but for interviews I shoot a lot of the time in F2.2 which is pretty hard to achieve in MFT 🤷🏼♂
Here's my perspective; Review cameras based on what the camera is aimed for, instead of Pro's POV all the time. You can't call an entry-level/fun-centric camera "crippled" just because it doesn't have "basic pro features", and pro-cameras "overpriced" for having non-begginer friendly features. It doesn't make any sense. Put ourselves in the target market's shoes instead.
Is it possible to place a mavic air2s vertically in it? also, do you have the internal depth measurement of the main compartment? online there are only external measurements...
I’m going to buy a S 5-2X, I intend to use it for photos and videos, I have an AC-90 camera and decided to upgrade it, but I don’t have any experience in photography with Lumix, because I work on a Nikon D 7100, can you do a comparison of Lumix S 5-2X with Nikon Z6-3?
Lols. People are so into specs but most only shoot closeup shots of leaves, billboards signs and random people walking. A bit of Grain and some LUT. Wow cinematic fantastic 🤣
For me…. And I know other will disagree… but I’d prefer the GH7 because it has the tilt rear screen option, which is so much better for filmmaking than the damn side hinged selfie screen.
Add in the Arri Log C3 upgrade on the GH7 and you're literally walking around with a budget Arri Alexa! And will the GH7 replace Arri? NEVER! But the idea that regular people now have access to Arri's true colour science is a brilliant way to get regular folks into the Arri system. So bold forward thinking by both Arri and Panasonic.
I have learned that the S5iix will get prores raw later this year, but iam pleased with internal BRAW to edit easier in Resolve. Panasonic should make an insertable OLPF just like BM. Moire is very bad on the S5iix thank you
Love my s5ii will not upgrade for at least another 3 to 4 years photos are beautiful I never shoot pro res or 120fps so 4k60 is perfect I still have my g9 and thats still a great Mirco 4/3 camera. LUMIX GANG ❤
I shoot everything in 2.8 which is 5.6 on full frame bokee wise so shallow depth of field is not of my concern in any way. I cant stand too much bokee and if i reallY need it i just use a longer lense like film makers always did. Most movies have been made with super 35/ apsc and still are. The full frame madness is just a recent thing and it mostly is important to youtubers who never do real film work at all
Add a speedboster onto the GH7 and you gain a stop and a 3rd of light! The brings an incredible lens like the Sigma 18-35 from an f/1.8 down to an f/1.2 or thereabouts. That is wild! So really, the pure versatility & adaptability of MFT allowing an user to build up to even use FF lenses or to build or down, is simply unmatched! Add in the new Arri Log C3 in the GH7 and you have the best value for money camera on the market today.
@@castielvargastv7931 I reckon that the Metabones speedbooster will offer true AF control, as the Metabones speedbooster offers slightly superior electronic control and communication with the camera than the Viltrox version. But once I get my hands on a GH7, I'll let you know, if of course any of the many Lumix RU-vidrs don't do it first 😉
Over all, I would pick the GH7. Lack of 4k60 without crop, 4k120, ProRes RAW, 32bit audio, 1080p 240fps, Tally light, more useful buttons , Tilt-flip LCD are things that cannot be replicated on S5iiX but the advantages of S5iiX over the GH7ike low light & shallow DoF can be overcome by adapting full frame lenses via speed booster ,
Hello, I am a Gh6 user and I am always doubtful about low light. I have never tried a full-frame lens to increase light capture. I work in many theaters and I am always afraid. Do you think the full frame lens is really noticeable with the adapter?
A huge point here will be info about AF with Metabones SpeedBooster. There are a lot of people (like me) with an old GH5+Metabones speedbooster and Canon Glass who will be pleased to use it with th GH7
The "already has a crop" argument doesn't make any sense I think. The sensor has a crop factor, not an actual crop. Honestly the best is being in both system. Been doing that for a while (with pre-hybrid AF cameras) and it's absolute bliss. Good idea with the Discord server as well!
If I have to pick one like most people, it's gonna be full frame, which is the more versatile system and the focal point of lens development these days.
@@frankfeng2701 its Not the most versatile. I can put a 14-140 lense in my Pocket and i can do everything. 14-140 would be a 28-280 in full frame.. try to put such a lense in you pocket🤣
Hey Matthew Question GH6 800$ used...to make my MFT lenses alive once more because lately I am shooting just with S5s S5iiX...AF is not Such an issue or should I wait for the GH7... Is the GH7 IQ better vs GH6? S5IIx is still best? Thx for Our answer Fil
Here’s my perspective, I have had the Sony 6400, ZV1, ZvE1, LUMIX g9ii - used it for RU-vid videos and light b-roll - I kept selling them trying to look for something - and realized there was very little I needed - the rest was overkill - I needed light, stabilized, good in low light, simple to use - all of the other features - I simply never used - they just made me feel better that I had them - that’s why this camera (I am having shipped) was an unexpected perfect fit - and especially the camera app is a huge bonus - it’s definitely for a unique market - I’m very excited to begin using it
To me s9 is not controversial at all its the same kind of camera as sony a7c but with better video features and no one ever complained about the sony. Lots of lumix haters out there thats all.
It's not like an a7c at all, that camera has a viewfinder and mechanical shutter, and I think a hot shoe. The S9 has none, because if you're moving up from a smart phone you never had them.
I really love this video. Love both of your perspectives. The fact that a videographer wants to take more stills and a photographer wants to do more video for some reason speaks to me. I’ve watched many reviews over the past months on what I should get. I saw this cam and Lowkey fell in love. Then I saw all the hate and it discouraged me. I held the s9 at BH photo store and it’s great in hand. The s5ii ( was my original choice) is bigger and heavier than I thought. I want to shoot stills and get into short films for now. Do you think this would be good for someone who has zero camera experience and still using an iPhone 8plus 😅?
This camera is a great option for someone looking into an easy work flow for both video and photo. You are losing a ton of functionality that you may eventually want in the S5ii. But it is a fun, small camera that is designed for content creators. Hopefully, they will remove or up the camera record limits and then I would recommend it even more. But it has made photos more fun for me like you said!
@@MatthewDangyou If they lower the price, add an actual grip and not one you have to purchase yourself, and up the recording limit. it would be better. random thought🧐 ; I think it would have been better if it was apsc( the s9). It would have made the lens smaller and would have allowed for more space in the body to implement the things that they say couldn't have fit the body( grip, evf, headphone jack, hotshoe and maybe even 2 card slots). it could have given them a chance to have an actual apsc lineup.
@@MatthewDangyou can you do a video related to this topic with sample footage? Because i am confused.i thought both light and bokeh were affected with sensor size in the same manner!
Does anyone have any tips for someone (me) who wants to record ambient sound? I don’t t know which type of mic is best for this matter. I don’t want to buy something that cancel this kind of sounds
With all due respect- there is almost no technical foundation to your corrections and choices. I say almost because there are a few I can see you know what you’re doing. However may I propose that you make another tutorial and slow down a bit. It’s like you rushed through this just to get to the end. I like your node tree workflow Inspired by DVR and I use a similar FCPx work flow. There are hardly any good FCPX technical Colour grade tutorials on RU-vid and the few that are great and professional are trying to sell you something. I think you could really carve out a niche here for yourself. You’ve got the skills - just package the Information up in a more technical work flow and use the scopes and explain how important using scopes are 😉
Hey Matthew Dangyou, I just watched your video and I must say that it was really informative and well-made. I was wondering if I could help you edit your videos and repurpose your long videos into highly engaging shorts? I can also make high CTR thumbnails for your channel
I love your rig Mathew. I just got the G85 and I'm looking to have a wireless controlled follow focus on the rig to make my solo creating as efficient as possible. Do you know if a wireless setup can be implemented in your current rig?
For sure can on this rig! The SmallRig has a pretty solid wireless follow focus that I personally use but if you are solo creating I would just recommended getting a manual follow focus to save $$$ amzn.to/4beWE3Q
