this song is amazing and a masterpiece in itself.. dude you must analyze the “Lateralus” album. Now that is a journey. I think most people say that is their best album and I agree

They have been touring for years, indeed! First time I saw them was in 2019 when they did a private show at Whisky A Go Go in LA that I was able to go to and they've been to many countries at this point, with Japan being the latest one I saw them in this summer!

Watching you react to this has clarified that your next Sleep Token song should be Atlantic. It has the heartbreaking storytelling, compelling piano, and then the added progressive metal components. For women in literature, the white horses are the creatures that knights appear on. Boys are discovered and she *could* transfer from daddy to male savior, but he wants her to love herself and not fall into the fairytale fantasies (she references multiple fairytales).

Not sure about the twin towers references, but the whole trilogy is relationship based, so I always took the two shapes to be the two parties to the relationship, and about how they've broken down and been rebuilding.

When he said “We need to get this guy a bigger van”, I thought he said “a bigger BAND”. And I immediately thought of the “Knower” vids where his house is FILLED with instrumentalists!!!

Beautiful master class of a breakdown. Very well done. Just a note, it's not blood, it's tar. It will come back later in the album when you get to it. Most of the visualizers have those two containers next to the object. It's a metaphor but not the twin towers.

One of the things that makes your reaction videos superior to all others I have seen, is that you actually sit respectfully and listen to the entire song as it's intended to be heard instead of pausing every 30 seconds. I just wanted to applaud you for this, as a fellow musician it does not go unnoticed. Keep it up!

@@Nick-hm2dm think I did too. I’d never heard them before that. I have a vivid memory of sitting on my bedroom floor, still in my school uniform, with the speakers cranked up and playing the whole thing from start to end and being totally blown away by what I was hearing. If I recall correctly, Opeth’s Blackwater Park came out around the same time? Been so long now. I have a similar memory involving that cd too!

@@JWSoundworks2 I heard Sober a few years prior and started checking out those earlier albums and was hooked. I’m a metalhead and listen to a ton of post hardcore and what not, but I was drawn into Tool for sure. Saw them last year for the first time at PowerTrip. It was awesome. Their work draws you and holds you there.

Some serious criticism: by interrupting the whole musical interpretation and splitting into little fractions of analysis, you will never be aware of the whole emotional experience - the whole is more than the sum of its parts . . .

That’s not lost on me. And many of my other (especially more recent) videos do go through the entire song before discussing it. However, when I first started doing this on RU-vid, nearly every video got blocked by copyright and the only way to avoid it was by pausing the song frequently. That’s why it was done. Otherwise my uploads would not be available at all. Fortunately, since these earlier videos, I can now usually avoid pausing on the first run through. Occasionally it still blocks the entire video, though. If you watch these style of videos frequently I’m surprised you’re not already aware of this.

It’s pronounced Haken as in Taken. Like the film. As told to me and the rest of the the audience at a show in Birmingham once. Am I late here? Yes I am. I’m late to everything. This band is fantastic. You really should dig deep. Live, they’re even more spectacular.

tanks for pointing out the prog influences. it's so weird to me that most people exclusively refer to them as a power metal band, when a lot of their songs, old or new, have strong prog metal elements to them. as someone who grew up with this band, and always being told they are power metal, as a kid I was confused and couldn't put my finger on why I thought they sounded so different from most power metal I knew besides their songs. once I discovered prog metal in my late teens it dawned on me why Blind Guardian always sounded, kinda special to me. I'm Alive is another one of their classics, also pretty prog. their newer albums are a lot more orchestral and prog than their old stuff

The “towers” are actually pillars. The figure is a god, part of a pantheon of 12. One god for each song on the album. But there’s also 12 pillars around the room the angel is in. It’s a different room for each song specifically made for each god as well.

I had a conversation recently with another huge Jinjer fan such as myself about the fact that other than my daughter, there’s nothing in this world that could make me weep or even cry, except Jinjer. They elicit an emotion in me that is just indescribable. From goose bump chills to outright tearing up,,, almost daily for 6+ years now. These 4 human beings are a HUGE part of my life and always will be. Rock on Brother and keep up the great work! 🤘🏼
