"A teacher of mine handed down videos to me in beauty school. The knowledge I had gained for free was amazing! The many artists and teachings in those videos inspired me to further my career and become an educator"
You point-cut too much. That is not nice or luscious for the look. No wonder people feel their hair has split ends. They feel like their hair is thinning when really, their hair is all thinned out by the hairdresser.
I would love to hear your thoughts. I rent a suite in a small salon, we only have 3 rooms. The salon owner keeps meddling into my business. She sends me services she thinks I should be doing that involve chemicals, I am chemical free and specialize in haircutting, she is aware of this. But sends me emails about gluing hair replacements on men. I've politely told her I'm not interested in offering those services. She has said she thinks I might be more successful in a barber shop setting, then turns around and wants to hand me ownership of the salon when she retires in 4 years. We went to the same cosmetology school so I've known her for 10 years. I've only rented from her for 2. I've done my time in corporate shops and I'm building my clientele every week, which she acknowledges but I can't help but feel a little uncomfortable around her and that I'll have to have a conversation with her soon about this. What are your thoughts on how to express myself other than what I've already done?
I love this style so much I have curly hair so I cut my own hair into this type of style I know it's not perfect but with curly hair it's easy to hide my mistakes but the style will look so nice with some waves and curls❤
Thanks alot 😊 i cut my hair for a few years now and this was perfectly done with your video ! I have thick hair so the texturizing scissor was the cherry on top .. i use to just cut then after using the texturizing scissor
I just had my hair cut. I asked for the V shape but I guess she didnt know how to do it and gave me a buster brown haircut. No layers, all straight. Ugly and too short. Hair was perfect length for the V , I wanted my hair cut to below the clavicle. Later she said she didnt know what the clavicle was and ended up cutting my hair 4 inches too short and just below my chin.
Idk if you still read comments on older videos but I did this cut on my daughter yesterday and she has thick hair and I feel like it needs layers on top. Not sure what's the best way to put them in. Should I hold pie sections up @90° or 45° and razor?
I remember watching this before I went to cosmo school and being so confused by the language but not it makes total sense lol, amazing tutorial. Excited to use these tips :)
I remember in the 80s I couldn't get a hairstylist to NOT layer my hair! Even in the 90s. Now that I actually want it layered cant find one who knows how to do it apparently.
I've been struggling so long to get my bangs how i wanted...once i followed your instructions it was made so easy ❤️ i'll never have to struggle with my bangs again
I rent a suite right now. Have for 2 years. I came from a background of chain walk -in type places and I prefer a suite to anything else. Yes, all the suite owners talk to each other lol. The salon I work in only has 3 rooms so we can talk as we're doing our clients and hear each other just fine. It's different than being around a room of stylists but it's a good kind of different. Every client gets that personal experience. It's great for clients who have small children who get over stimulated or who are on the spectrum. I also got a call from a woman who wears a hijab and can't have other men see her hair, so that's another benefit of having a door to close. I set my own schedule, do the services I actually like to do, have no boss, feel more fulfilled in my career, and so much more! The energy of a room of stylists is great but I found more often than not I was overhearing things I'd rather not and stylists would want to push me into conversations I don't want to have while servicing a client. Not to mention that one stylist that talks so loud you can't even hear your client who's soft-spoken. Anyway, sorry for the novel, but I wanted to chime in. Like you all said, I think it's best to choose what fits your personality and your client base.
Please do a money piece and/or face-framing highlight video for clients with a deep side part. These applications just don't balance the highlights well on both sides of the part, and not everyone wants a full foil. But I can't figure out why and how to make it work.
I’m not a hairstylist but I have a question for you if you don’t mind. I recently went to a new person who cut and colored my hair. I’m not sure what kind of haircut she gave me. There’s definitely layers and when she styled it at the end, after blow drying it with a round brush, she used a flat iron and did this thing where my front layers were “over directed” (not sure if it’s the right term) forward a lot. The end result was like feathers with tips pointing forward. I’m not sure how I feel about it or how my hair will look once I style it myself. I usually never flat iron my hair anymore. If I style my hair which is not very often, I like soft waves. But my hair feels very choppy 😢 so not sure how that’ll turn out. On days when I just wash my hair and let it air dry, I apply products to help form the waves, but again I’m not sure what kind of layers she gave me so I don’t know what my hair will end up looking like. Any idea what kind of haircut she might’ve given me so I can at least look up some videos on how to style it? I’d appreciate the help and advice. Thank you in advance.
Had the worst rep in today and had to share it here 😂 he comes in this one time while I’m with a client and my client mentions a product she likes which I don’t stock and he starts telling her about the range and which local salons stock it (which he does orders for) he then starts telling her the trade price for these products/straighters and starts telling her I can sell them to her for trade price if I like her! So meaning I won’t make anything from selling it 😂😂😂 I thought Is he for real Love your podcasts 😊
I decided to go blonde for summer 2024 and the tips and tricks I learned here today are amazing. Thanks for all the gems you dropped in this video. Her hair turned out beautiful.
