I'm inclined to disagree, honestly. There's a fair amount more of variety in the SFX and voice clips, small flourishes like the little critters roaming around in levels such as Jungle Hijinx, Grant Kirkhope as DK and Chris Sutherland as Diddy like in DK64, new content like DK Attack, minigames, and you can save whenever you want. You also now have a checklist to see which levels have and haven't been fully cleared which is helpful for completionists. Small carryovers from the later DKC games as well such as the tagging SFX, bonus stage title cards and KONG letter sprites. The only major downgrade imo is the music quality, the GBA sound hardware was rarely ever used to its full capabilities, I feel like.
@@RainbwSpctrm TL;DR: They really did a poor job making it clear what these ports really are (remakes or enhanced ports), and their nomenclature doesn't help one bit either. That's why I said what I said below. Not a fan of the hand-holding stuff you just mentioned; the original is perfectly fine without all of that. Call me a purist or whatever; I'm proud of the generation I came from that has no problem with a game testing my wits and intelligence rather than insulting them with this type of needless, 'spell it out for me' stuff. I also see no problem with the original cast; they should have made a new game if they were going to needlessly change up so much stuff. Nothing that was changed was broken enough to warrant the change. The mini-games, etc. are clearly boring padding nonsense that will last as long as the "allure" of maximizing the 3D on a 3DS. The SFX sound incredibly stupid and are very annoying, and take away from the simplicity of the original...it's like some pathetic try-hard attempt at something *else* that isn't necessary. Whoever thought Kremlings should sound like that when you kill them needs to get a CAT scan. To each their own...I guess.
@@Ubugome I can understand and respect your viewpoint, yeah. The CT Scan comment is maybe a bit much, but otherwise yeah, I can understand not wanting a game you grew up loving straying too much in its rereleases. Me personally, I'm just a tad disappointed Grant Kirkhope isn't returning for the 2024 version of Mario Vs. Donkey Kong, as well as some of the more outrageous animations like Mario being burned alive. If I had to use this port as an example though, the new intro with the company logos is more forgettable than the original, however nice it may look. Hard to replace the original logo fanfare followed by opening up with Cranky Kong on those familiar girders. The music's also taken a somewhat heavy hit, which sucks since the OST is phenominal on SNES.
Mano, tu parece estar ativo criando conteúdo de DKC, então vou expor minha opinião pra tu: Eu sempre tive a ideia de criar uma continuação para os games de DKC, criando um "DKC 4" Fangame, e a minha ideia seria dar continuidade ao flow que a série tinha no SNES. Precisamente o que eu quero dizer é: DKC 2 tem muitos elementos similares ao primeiro DKC, mas não usa nada igual que eu me lembre. Os sprites são diferentes, mesmo tendo os mesmos personagens (Diddy jogável e Donkey aparece no final para derrotar o K. Rool com um murro). Também temos um novo personagem "Dixie", ao que um dos personagens do primeiro game (Donkey) não é protagonista nesse. De forma muito similar: DKC 3 tem vários elementos similares ao segundo DKC, mas tudo é novo. Desde a trilha sonora, até mapas, inimigos, tema geral mais alegre, funcionalidades novas, como os veículos que tu usa para se locomover na água, os Banana Birds colecionáveis, os irmãos urso que tu interaje, etc. E aqui também temos um novo personagem "Kiddy", ao que um personagem do jogo anterior (Diddy) não é protagonista nesse. Aí o que vejo nesses fã-games de DKC é que sempre reutilizam sprites dos antigos, mesmos inimigos, mesmos elementos dos cenários também... se não me engano em um fangame, usaram até um mapa parecidíssimo com o do DKC 1 para navegar entre as fases, o que vai no caminho oposto que a série seguia, que era cada vez ter um mapa mais interessante e diferente, etc. A minha ideia seria: 1: Substituir um dos protagonistas, no caso a Dixie está a dois games seguidos, pode ser substituída pela Tiny Kong e manter o Kiddy, que está presente em apenas um game. 2: Todos sprites de inimigos e cenários, balões de vida, itens criados do zero. Felizmente renderizar elementos 3D hoje em dia é muito mais fácil do que foi em 1990. 3: Todas as músicas novas também. 4: Um título mais interessante para o game, fazendo referência ao personagem principal. Algo como "Donkey Kong Country 4: Kiddy Kong's Peril", e criar um enredo e historia simples focada nele. 5: Criar personagens auxiliares diferentes dos Irmãos Urso, mas que cumpram um papel similar. 6: Um mapa mais interessante e com mais coisas para explorar do que o game anterior. Claro que, ainda bem que tem gente criando esses fã-games nos anos mais recentes, porque antes não tinha NADA. Ainda assim, eu acredito que essa necessidade de criar uma continuação bem próxima da sensação de continuidade e progresso que tinha entre os outros games, ainda está longe dos fã-games já criados até então.
Yo! This looks promising! I hate the fact that there isn’t much donkey Kong related fan projects and the missed opportunities that come with. But this is finally something that looks decent and might be awesome to play.
Thank you, there really are few projects and some aren't even finished, but it will probably take me a while to release a new demo or the final version, as I'm trying to learn new editing things lol
