Age, that was a good outing. I'll be honest, I'm glad you didn't use your foldable wire saw to remove the trees off the trail. There was a lot of signs from all sorts of critters. Looks like a good place. Good berries and mushrooms to collect, too. Too bad about the trash from people, though. 17:27 Honestly, those shots can become cliché if overused. Just a beauty sunset at the end. Thanks for the video brother. Hope you smash a grouse soon. We are still skunked too.
That will get the cardio up . Maybe if you stood on it and pulled up while sawing . Still though. You'd expect more . I have seen saws like that with more grit to them. More like a mini chain saw .
Yeah, it's a great workout, lol😁 It was still going to go slowly. I would have liked the piece I was sawing to me more steady in place but I don't think that affected the performance too much. I've seen better saws too. I try one out, in my video next Wednesday😀
That may make it a lot easier on the fingers! It still takes way too long to make this useful. Another commented said it would be easier to just burn the tree in place, lol😂
Maybe it's not meant for sawing, but as a way to warm you up, lol😁 These are not the greatest survival saw! I'm sure they have a use that they are good at, but cutting small logs like this is not it! I had fun trying this out though😀 I may have to get one of those survival kits and test them out.
Loved it! It looked promising at the very beginning but it quickly became apparent it's not very useful, at least for logs that large in diameter. I hope you do more reviews like this - testing of the cheaper types of gear that are tempting to buy but may not work as advertised. 👍👍
Thanks, Daryl😁 Yeah, at the start, I was thinking, "Wow, this really cuts" and then as I kept sawing, I realised that it was going to take a whole lot of time and effort to cut one small log. I don't mind testing the cheaper gear. It's something that I can afford😀 I'll keep looking for things to test. Let me know if you have something you think I should test😊
LOL😂 Yes, a few 6 packs would have helped with the morale😁 I can honestly say the saw worked, but it took a lot of effort to get it as far as I got it. I'll have to see if I can find a better use for that saw. Cutting firewood is not it😀
Hello 🙋♂️ my friend. Thank you for video. I had such a saw, but the rings pressed too much on my fingers, it was not convenient for me to saw, so I do not use it
Hello😀 Yes, the rings really did press into the fingers and they were sore afterwards. I was almost going to try using gloves to see if that helped, but by then I had been sawing for a long time and decided that it still would have been too much effort to cut through that small log. I'll stick to my folding saw which is much easier to use and a lot less effort. I'll need to find another use for the wire saw.
What a coincidence as I was just looking at those at Canadian Tire the other day! Didn't get one as I wanted to check YT first. Seems most do say not really made for too much thicker than a thumb, but they do eventually cut through. If I have to work too hard, I'd be tempted just to light the whole felled tree and fire and call it a warm night! LOL
I think your plan of lighting the whole tree on fire is a better option😂 Yeah, it does indeed work, but at what cost. You spend all that time and energy. These must have been originally made for another purpose that they work really well for. Don't buy one of these unless you're planning to add this to your exercise regime😀
Yes, this would only be good for small branches. It's certainly not good for bigger sized logs. It as a good test and now I know that I'll stick to my folding saw😁
I've been eyeing up a few of those survival tins...maybe I should pull the trigger and test them out too😁 I'm sure there is a great use for these types of saws, but cutting small logs is not one of them😂
Glad you tried that out for me. It's another one of those things that I often wondered about but never could bite the bullet to purchase. I think I'd rather carry my folding saw.
I'm happy to help😁 Was it worth the money...maybe if the video goes viral and I get a whole bunch of ad revenue, lol😂 A folding saw is a much better way to go. I have one in my pack. I carry the Silky BIGBOY 2000. It's extra weight, but it has cut many, many trees and branches out of the way.
I always love your honest reviews. Totally agree with your review of this. If you were in a true survival situation, the amount of effort you'd have the expend to use that thing would not be worth it. You got your workout for the day with that saw!
Thanks, Sara😁 Honesty is the best policy for reviews. Plus I don't know how this can be shown as a fantastic tool. I 'm sure there are specific scenarios where this comes in handy, but not for cutting pieces of wood this size. I got a good workout that day. I'll stick to my other saws for clearing the trail though😀
I'm happy to provide some laughs😁 It really was a crazy amount of work to make it as far through that log as I did. I should have put some Benny Hill music to it or something like that😀
Not a great option for carrying with you. If I didn't have anything at all, then this may come in handy. It could be a bit dangerous if you get your fingers caught in there.
Love how you can identify signs of elk and tracks. We would have just driven by not knowing. We will pay a lot more attention from now on. Really cool👍! Well done 👍 All the best, Michelle and Holger 🙏
I'm still learning to identify signs, but it's really interesting to see all this stuff out there. We pass by it every day and never really think much about it. Now I just need to figure out how to find a deer that are not hanging out at the University😁
The forest can get quite dense and then sometimes, it's really open in there. It's amazing when it opens up under the canopy of trees. I really do keep my wits about me! I'm always listening for bears or anything else that could sneak up on me in there. It's fun to be in there though. I have that coming up in my future videos.
The first part of the video reminds me of driving up the Meade Creek mainline years ago in the springtime. 25 pulls to get the chainsaw running to cut the deadfall , then sore arms the next day from swinging the chainsaw. Would have loved to have one of those mini electric chainsaws back then !
I have times where I'd like to have a full size chainsaw to tackle some of the stuff out there! There always seems to be work to do on the logging roads especially after winter or a really windy day.
