I have 500 hours of simulated combat experience. I have hands on pistol and rifle training. I have played dozens of rounds of paintball matches. My simulated combat experience was the most useful. The zig zag running pattern, the incoming fire reaction stance, the ambushes ect. The explaination here is rudimentary. To effectively survive a gunfight a person needs to return fire while simultaneously seeking cover. If all someone has is this video and they find themselves in a gunfight they would not survive if their oppponent has my experience level. example, whilst playing airsoft I setup an ambush along a path, a group of 5 of the enemy team came walking down the path, i tagged 3 out of the 5.

Seeing the British mess kit, I wonder what your experience with the Crusader MK1 is. I love it in combination with an alcohol safety burner (x-boil), but I’ll also give the British/Dutch mess kit a try.

Great video. The only issue with Hexamine is that if it's exposed to either air or moisture it will degrade to the point of being almost useless. It turns a light yellow colour when it's degraded, and the heat output is greatly diminished. Always keep it in a air/water tight bag for long term storage. There is a good reason why the issued Canadian Hexamine is packed the way it is.

Good stuff. 1) You sure as shit can eat and drink out of a USGI cup. I have turned two of them black from instant coffee. I carried two of 'em 1 for eating and 1 for cleaning. That being said, there are better options. 2) as of now I use a German mess kit in my pack, and a Pathfinder steel cup w/lid & metal water bottle in my kit.

The Crusader Mug is similar to the US mug. It is not useless in my opinion. Top tip- place some masking or sniper tape around one or both edges you choose to drink your hot “wet. ” Unless you have asbestos lips! You can boil water in it. You can heat your food pouch, or as the “Colonials” say your MRE meal pouch at the same time. You can even make bread in the cup with hot coals in a fire if you have a lid. There again look on RU-vid and make a lid out of a mess tin! I have used a flannel and had a wash using the mug! Pits and bits with a wipe of the tuttsies; no problem! Examine is now illegal unless you have a licence in the UK as it can be used as a component part of an IED!

Hmmm Think you are over thinking the mess tins. In WW1 & WW11 they all drank out and ate out of their mess tins, yes some yanks, brits, germans, french did it from theit helmets etc but all field army kitchens cooken in and served food out of their aluminium pots and pans. It is perfectly safe. Many ppl use the aluminium mess tins and pots and pans even around the home so i think you are thinking too much into it. Also have you ever heard 1 incident from these wars and later ones that a soldier or platoon all came down with aluminium posioning or even death ?? No because they are safe to cook with and eat out of.

Excellent presentation dear EM.! Another advantage of the hexamine stove is that if you run out of hexamine you can easily use small pieces of wood/sticks or even a candle to warm/prepare your meal.

So much said in the first 10 minutes that echo my own thoughts exactly. Everyone wants to be a doorkicker, but even Tier 1 type doorkicker dudes have to know how to wash their armpits in the field and do basic land nav. That's what ties it together- everyone's gotta ruck. And there's also a certain feeling of deceit with the cosplay/flashy video intros with pyrotechnics and such. Regarding the guys selling business, becoming a man, fitness, etc- it often feels like there's this weird change in level- like the viewer is being spoken down to, like the presenter has the center stage and you just get to be in the audience. Cool if it's an expert talking about whatever, not cool when it's someone saying they're trying to uplift others but not giving any real path forward. There's also a weird focus on the specifics- I imagine that has to do with shilling their own products for money or clout. People ignore KISS acronym and that the average Joe doesn't have the funding and/or time to be able to function at that level. So the videos of you getting out and rucking, or demonstrating how to pitch a shelter so it doesn't look like a bag of ass, is hugely important for the average joe to see because the average Joe can connect to that and level with that.

Intro reminds me of something on Discovery Channel. Not sure how I feel about a civilian providing military information. What made the Discovery Channel content popular was the host having interviews with Military Personnel who provided their insights as experts. I’m sure the budget for the channel can’t afford to pay for these experts interviews maybe there can be a subtext with a list of sources as that would support the content being referenced and justify the channel. Just saying, anyways good stuff!
