i'm a week into being the owner of a Grandland automatic 70 plate. Engine sounds rough, keeps doing that 'restart' thing when i stop at a junction and if your short then the bar to move seat closer to steering is quite far under the seat and i've whacked myself a number of times puling the sun visor down as it is quite deep. Infotainment is basic looking, no colour just black and white unless u plug ur phone in. I'll be trading in asap. Positively, it is quite nice looking and a good size.

I’m not sure about the 986, but the 987 window trim that I needed to replace, is $2000 Canadian or $1400 US. I’m not quite sure how a piece of rubber attached to plastic could be so expensive and I’ve heard of explanation from anybody including Porsche.
@huwjones5879
@huwjones5879 6 дней назад
Thanks for taking the time to comment, its really appreciated. The window trim of your 987 is that expensive because Porsche want it to be. 987 parts appear to be much more expensive here in the the UK as well, my brother has one and even though its only 6 yrs younger than my 986 patten part availability is less and they are often much more expensive even though the cars are virtually the same. Lots of quality patten parts here in UK for 986, one of the main reasons I bought it, and I wanted the "fried egg" headlights.

Totally agree with this review, i dont own this car and have only driven a older Mini S (with the older style or interior) i think the SE would be a great car to own if i slotted into the precise demographic niche that it is designed for. You would get the "maxi" fun factor with "mini" reliability worries of ownership. IMHO, your channel is uniqure because you own two of the funnest driver's cars currently available: mini and boxster. I wonder if you can do a subjective comparison just for giggles?

Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate you taking the time to watch and then comment. I have to admit that there was more to fix than I originally anticipated when I bought the Boxster. There are plenty of RU-vid videos that show you how to fix things but the majority are US based from Dry States so don't suffer the corrosion issues we do here in UK with our temperate climate and salted winter roads. I spent the purchase price of the Boxster to put it right. I know I'll never get my money back if I sold it, sorted ones don't seem to be worth much more than non-sorted ones.Thanks again.

As a Porsche owner there is no such thing as a cheap Porsche, you buy cheap you will certainly buy twice! It cost a kings ransom to keep my 987.2 going even though I bought it from an Indy Porsche dealer, I now own a 981 that is reliable with 2 years Porsche warranty. Anyone who is not mechanically inclined should keep a small Porsche slush fund of £2000 annually

Anybody who “likes” the sound of 3 cylinder engines must see things differently to me, i cant stand the things I dont want to hear my car I want refinement and quiteness even from little runarounds cars. Im having to rent various cars atm having sold mine. Ive rented this a new juke a new kuga and a cx5. That was the only one with a 4cyl. It was thirstier but the night and day difference in smoothness. Currently got a corsa non turbo and boy do you near the so called characterful 3cyl thrum these testers rave about. No thanks.
@huwjones5879
@huwjones5879 3 месяца назад
Thanks for taking the time to comment, it is appreciated. Each to their own. I also have a Triumph Street Triple R which has a lovely 3 cyl sound and the Grandland reminded me of that. If you want refinement and quietness then why are you bothering with engines, at all? Eliminate the engine altogether and go for an Electric Vehicle? My Tesla Model 3 is beautifully quiet, smooth and the driving experience far more refined than any ICE. If you want a small runabout the Renault Zoe is going to be way quieter and definitely more refined than a Corsa, and of course there is the eCorsa if you have a particular liking for Vauxhall.

Thinking of adding one of these to the house with the Corsa e VXR. I love the look of them and the sound of the stock exhaust system from a 1.4 turbo is impressive! Sounds much louder than the Corsa e VXR which boosts a 1.6 turbo 205bhp engine. I had to add an induction kit and resonator delete pipe to the centre of the exhaust for it to sound louder.

Thanks for taking the time to comment, it is always appreciated. The Abarth 595 is a great little car. The one in the video has the Moto Marelli Bombardoni exhaust , straight through, no resonators, and it sounds glorious. If you go to look at any check the radio is tuning OK as the aerial can suffer from water ingress and the circuit board in the base gets fried. It is often mistakenly diagnosed as a faulty headunit.

My sister has a 20 plate Vauxhall crossland x it’s a 1.2 it’s comfy and as you mentioned it’s great over potholes!. However she has voiced and I’ve also noticed when out in it it’s very slow, I told her she should have opted for the 1.2 turbo version if she wanted something nippy. I like the design of them, however I’m a petrol head so I have a 66 plate corsa e VXR, it’s a quick car but the only downside is you really do feel the bumps in it especially over potholes.

Thanks for taking their time to watch and comment, it means a lot. I made this just before I changed the car, so don’t have anything further to add to my observations in the video. Hi Huw. Really interesting well presented review. I have had the 1.2 Sport Nav manual for almost 3 years. I like everything about the car apart from one thing which is that I find the clutch release to be quite jerky (mostly from 1st to 2nd) and a million miles away from the effortlessly smooth Toyota Avensis (my previous car). It took me a long time to master this. But even now I still find it takes more effort than it should (and particularly on a hill start). I need to be very exact in bringing the clutch precisely up to the biting point and actually holding it there for a good second before fully releasing. Maybe it is just that the Toyota was so smooth and maybe because I tend not to over rev. But still wish I had gone automatic. Any feedback on this would be much appreciated.

I test drove the new 2022 version this week. I was impressed with the way it drove, but I was disappointed that it lacked certain features other cars in this class and price range, have as standard. I also thought it was a little underpowered with the 1.2 turbo engine. Although it seemed to get along quite well, with just two of us. I think it might struggle fully loaded, up a steep mountain pass. It could do with a few more horses under the bonnet, for the size of the car it is. Unfortunately they don't do a hybrid that isn't plug-in. I am sure that would make a big difference. As I live in an apartment; that is not practical for me. It was good to hear your review. Thank you.

Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. I can't say that the Tech-Line spec Grandland that I had lacked anything, but Vauxhall do have previous for dropping the spec in different model years. the first Insignia Sri I had was well equipped but when it came time to change, the replacement car had been down specced, e.g. such things as manual rear windows instead of the electric, and the Chrome exhaust tail pipe, I went with a Qashqai instead but 3 years later the Insignia spec when I looked was similar to the first one? I can only assume the Vauxhall accounts team try to cut as much as they can until buyers go elsewhere, then they up the spec again? I never felt the Grandland 1.2 3 cyl engine lacked pull, even with four adults and luggage on board, but the latest model looks to be a very different car to the one I had so comparison is difficult.
