The first "digital nomad" now has a mobile media digitizing lab on an island north of Seattle, and this channel is mostly dedicated to detailing the processes (along with some of the treasures, including a ton of my own technomadic history). Video tapes of various flavors, audio reels and cassettes, 8 and 16mm home movies including sound, slides and negatives, books, documents... almost everyone has a fading mountain of vintage media that is impossible to back up, search, or share. The tools to deal with this are diverse and complex, but the rewards are huge.

Here you will learn how to handle your own archives or assemble a lab to perform these services for clients. Along the way, we share some discoveries from the time machine... including a few from my quirky history of traveling the US on a computerized recumbent bicycle back in the 1980s.

Your interview on the Phil Donahue Show was fascinating. You were so far ahead of your time as a freelancer and mobile technologist. Most don't realize how much of your tech then fits into a pock or small back today.

Thank you! I am constantly astounded by the tech in my pocket... chatting with AI... live tracking... 180 TB of NAS... it is just surreal, in one lifetime. A BEHEMOTH of today would not be a behemoth!

Cool, Nature recordings on DAT, then sold on cassettes and am assuming CD. Dublin Ohio's CD factory was one of just two CD factories in the US in 1989. My wife worked there. She came home one day and told me her boss just pushed a two million dollar machine into the pond they and the Dublin Police Dept. shared at their facility on Post Rd. It's still there I imagine.

Grown up in the 80 and 90s there was a neighbor whose name was Don Eaton. He probably passed 25 years ago. Lived in Menifee, CA.

That grainy old 8mm film... this was a tough one! Normally I can at least stabilize to make it less jaggy, but with all the existing motion that was not worth the effort. Did just basic cleaning, and a simple color adjust to make it less muddy. Digitized at 2K but realistic export at 1080p was plenty, given the source.

Yep! It was rough.... dirty and very faded. Stabilization did not work well because of all the motion. Still a bit of history.

I still cant believe the Navy used the tf30 for so long. It was a bad choice for the F-14. But it was a great engine for the F-111. Go figure. Thank you veterans for your service!!!🇺🇸

If he could rebuild the Behemoth recumbent these days. The computer system would be so small now. I remember when the Behemoth was featured in I think Bicycling Magazine. I went nuts over it. I now ride a two wheeled recumbent. But I do not have nearly the equipment on mine.

I don't suppose someone digitized some of the weapon separation tests from Tomcat prototypes 5 or 6? I've got the tins of the films from the Naval Missile Center but they sadly only had the bare reels inside.
