All we have are the experiences, the memories we make. We feel alive exploring new places, and taking any risks that we take. From the waves to the mountains, a new adventure always awaits. Fishing, hiking, camping, or even a weekend escape. So strap in for the ride, this journey may take awhile. I'm Richie, she's Jaime, and this is Where We Wild.

My folding shovels remain at home. I carry a trowel. Not just any trowel. Over the years I’ve broken 5 or 6 trowels that were “just right”. Then, I got ahold of a “horri hkrri”. That’s Japanese for Dig! Dig!. Those trowels weigh much less than a folding shovel, and are as beastly strong. Not quite what a guy would use to fend off a bear - but getting close to it. "Great tips! For the older folks, that pillow is not only perfect for backpacking but also works as an excellent adjustable lumbar support when needed."
Haha yeah just one of my favorite hats and happened to be the one I grabbed that day. 🤷🏻♂️😊 Didn’t even make the connection probably because when I think of Cabela’s I think of fishing. 🎣😎🤙🏽
Thrift store, goodwill or yard sales........ get one of those big rolling suitcases. I put my air mattress, bedding, pillows, pop up lanterns and small battery operated fans in it. All my "bedding" gear is in one place when I grab and go. Also....old tool box can be used for your "kitchen". My small camp stove, small coffee pot, silverware, plates, cups and small pots and pans fit in it and easy to carry.😊
The State is not giving away, a God Damn, thing, if you, already have any other, insurance couverage, SHE is a Blonde Lying, . Who-e . ! Galatians 6:7 Psalms 101:3
I use an IKEA blue bag for all my soft stuff like sleeping bags, pillows, mattresses etc. It has backpack straps which makes it easy to carry. I use a plastic tub (“bin”) for all my other stuff (kitchen etc) and the only other thing I carry is my tent and a bag of food.
Interesting we’ve had ours for about 8 years now and no issues. 🤷🏻♂️ All cookware sticks especially when you cook over a fire, we try to just clean them right away while their hot makes it way easier, including cast irons.
That is a great way to handle a huge topic !! Now you need to show us how to approach the water (new water) for the first time. Also, it was cool seeing your media rig. Was that a power mac powering the system ?
Thanks Air 👊🏽😊 Good idea! I will try and make that video soon and show exactly how to cast the spinning rod and stuff like that. How to figure out where to fish (without a boat and scope) haha maybe how to fish around other fishermen and so on. Be good to add to the beginner playlist. 🤙🏽 Haha and yeah it’s a Mac Studio. M2 Max, 32GB memory & 1TB storage. Just got it this past year, I had been running the channel off an old 13” MacBook Pro up until then lol and it could barely handle editing the ridiculous amount of huge 4k files. I was torn between getting it or a stronger MacBook Pro, but the studio is more powerful for the price and I don’t usually have to edit anywhere but here. It’s been a great setup so far. If I do need to edit on the go I can still get away with using the old laptop which I’d still like to upgrade at some point. I use 5TB external drives to keep all the footage on, they usually last about a year or so before I need a new one. 😁🤙🏽
Hahaha thanks Rick 👊🏽😁 Jeez yeah it’s bad man. I had to really think about how to keep this as simple as possible. Lol I should have added some footage of all my rods and reels and the ridiculous amount of baits and other tackle I have with a disclaimer to be careful or you’ll end up like this! 😂😂😂😂
@@kathleengilmore8238 Hmmm I will have to get back to you on that I have to look into it, I’ve never tried a telescopic rod honestly, but just so you know a lot of these rods I’ve linked in the description come in 2 piece models so you can break them down when you aren’t using them which is great for saving space and traveling in smaller cars. I have a few of them. In fact, the one I held up Daiwa Aird X is a 2 piece. 🤙🏽 But let me see what I can find as far as the telescopic rods go and I will comment back about it. 👊🏽
Bro, love the reel cleaning and gear rundown videos, and I know it's hot here in So Cal, but you gotta get out for some surf, pier or marina fishing. It's running mid-70's to 80ish on the coast and these ocean fish fight like crazy. Think about it.
@@ClintTisher Thanks man! 👊🏽😊 That’s really funny you mentioned that we are looking to do a trip out to the beach and do some surf fishing very soon and maybe hit the marina up near Oxnard/Ventura. Not sure where to go exactly, but we really want to get out there. Love how much cooler it is on the coast this time of year. We hit the lake over here for some night fishing the other night and it was still 85-90 degrees in pitch black dark! 🥵😂
@@WhereWeWild that's really good news. I'm telling you if you latch on to a decent sized spotty or calico with your freshwater rigs you will be blown away. They fight like crazed maniacs. Just get out their and do it. Looking forward to your adventures. I'm getting started and digging it.
@ClintTisher Yeah I used to surf fish salt all the time on the east coast it was super fun, think it’s time to start running that game out here too. We absolutely love the beach. 😎🤙🏽 Just make sure to spray all that salt off your reels when you’re done! Haha sooooo bad for them. 🤦🏻♂️😂
A string ,a hook and a fresh caught grassshopper or fresh dug worm. Its all i ever needed. Started that when i was bout 3 . im 73. Lake Texoma Texas side!!!!!pretty much same thing for a nice trout too. Caught more this way than with rod reel and spoon. cheaper too. And yes i do hav full gear and boxes for both types of fishing. And im female. And a little gulf fishing too.
@@coloradopackratprepper Nice 😊 Hey that’s what’s awesome about fishing, you find what works best for ya and you build your confidence in it. Confidence is huge to have! I actually should have mentioned that as well, it is so important to believe and feel confident that what you’re throwing is going to get bit. 🤙🏽
We’ve had some awesome trips in tents we’ve gotten at Walmart, no issues. Coleman ones mostly which they sell. We got one Ozark Trail tent on the road in a pinch, nothing special but it got the job done. To each their own. 🤙🏽
I find the easiest way to have coffee while camping is just to bring a few individual packets of instant coffee powder that already has the milk powder mixed in. Not as tasty as real coffee but functions as a decent morning drink
Nice we’ve definitely smashed some instant on certain lightweight trips haha gets it done, it’s just a extra nice and comforting to make some fresh 😊🤙🏽
@@rjturner9075 Haha not sure what you’re asking man, you mean an after market drag clicker for the SLX that makes the drag click? Or the stock parts that make adjusting the drag star click?
Haha nahh man I have problems I really enjoy taking it all apart step by step and making sure everything last little part is looking the way it should. 😂🤙🏽
I know this is an older video, but I was happy to watch as you were very unsure about the location at first, and then just fell in love with the experience and embraced it. I am from the Coloma area and we tend to lose the wonder of this place, because we live it every day. James Marshall and John Sutter are big names up here, you see them everywhere. Thanks for appreciating what we tend to take for granted!!!
Thanks so much for the nice comment! Lol yeah I had some anxiety at first from not knowing where we were going or what we were doing, and also noticing all the smoke from the fire that was in the area… sometimes unfortunately those types of feelings can come across as having a bad attitude for me, haha but once I settled in and relaxed I really enjoyed the area and the experience. Even with all the smoke that area was very very beautiful and just feeling the history of it all was amazing and something I will never forget. 😊 Thanks again for the kind comment and thanks for watching. ☺️🤙🏽
@@WhereWeWild thanks for reading my comment on an old video! I hope you guys make the trip again, there is a lot more to see in the area. We like to say, that living in this area, you can be snow skiing in the morning, and surfing in the afternoon. Everything is like 2 hours away from everything else. And the history is everywhere you look 😊.
So mine has alot of grease on the spool bearing which you mentioned. I haven't taken it out but it sometimes makes a terrible grind noise like dry gears skipping when I cast. Only used 5 times. Quite disappointed. Should I send it to shimano?
The gears usually come pretty dry from the factory. Before you go through the trouble of trying to send it out… I would honestly follow this video step by step, make sure everything is clean no dirt or sand anywhere, make sure there are no broken parts, and then add the oil and grease to all the spots I show where to put it and see how it feels after. 🤙🏽
Shimano Ax, FX FC ,catana nexave, Sienna sono tutti meccanicamente identici. Pagate di più solo per il lato estetico. Poi cambiate le boccole con dei cuscinetti e diventano subito top di gamma 🤣
It’s not ideal, that’s a penetrating oil that’s better for cleaning oil and grease off of parts rather than lubricating them. You can use it but if you want to keep the reel nice long term, I’d recommend grabbing some oil and grease that’s made for fishing reels. It’s all linked in the video description it’s pretty cheap. 🤙🏽
@@fishingwithair8727 Thanks Air 👊🏽😊 Not so bad just that tiny lock clip lol seems so unnecessary 🤷🏻♂️😂 Spinning reels are always a little more annoying with more parts, but it’s still relaxing to do. These videos are like my version of painting with Bob Ross. 😆
