Thanks for visiting my Fishing RU-vid Channel taking time out of your busy schedule as I know we're all busy! This channel will showcase my recent fishing excursions and other related videos taken during my busy life after moving to Las Vegas, Nevada a few years ago. I'm not an expert or anything but someone who happen to like all types of fishing from catching large mouth/small mouth bass, stripers, catfish, trout, crappie, bluegill and even carp. I fish from the bank as well as on my kayak using both fresh baits, lures, and stink baits. I am new to creating these videos so please go easy on me as I promise to make them better as I learn how to create better ones. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or need additional information about my fishing videos.
Hi Peter, Nice video! I initially thought you were going to do them all in one day! Then I realized "he can't." Went fishing last week at Floyd Lamb-caught 1 carp. Put up a nice fight and finally I christened my new net. Worked well. BTW, how do you rate that Casio fishing watch? Any faith in it? My watch was positive and I did catch a carp but its too early to say if it really works. OK, all for now. Will catch you next time. George Bonafino
Thanks for sharing the different fishing spots. My daughters were in the group of volunteers cleaning up Boulder Harbor boat ramp, I showed them your video, and they were very excited to see them self on your video. I fish Boulder harbor all the time.
I'm not in that state or planning to go there but hats off to you my brother for sharing your knowledge. Me and the rest of the bank fisherman/women really appreciate it
Is there a way on youtube i can disable the music? I know, turn the volume down, but i dont want to miss talking. Otherwise I think it might be a good video. Thank u
Really great video! Glad you showed all these spots for us bank anglers to check out!! There's a couple of these spots that i have yet to go to and your video made me want to check them out. Awesome job!
Thank you I really appreciate it. I can’t wait to see you land a big carp. Hopefully I’ll run into you at one of these spots. Thank you for your kind words 🙏
I used can corn (3-4 kernels) on the hook with pack bait (corn flake cereal and panko bread crumbs) in the feeder cage. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching. 🙏
DONT BUY, BIG HEADACHE I bought this kayat for my grandson and me to enjoy getting on the water. It has been a disaster since we bpought it and it has resulted in terrible experiences with my grandson. Cons: seats are bad, tolerate no more than 20 minutes no places for rod holders unable to place adaptations(seats, rod holders, motor mount). You cannot attach bolts to the top of the kayat to place attachments onto kayat,) The company has poor service, spent 3 hours contacting the company and they were no help in resolving anything Super heavy(75 lbs), need large truck to transport. Unable to drill into kayat per company or you lose your warranty Cost about 200.00 to ship back to company Pro's: You have 30 days to try it and return it to Walmart (my truck was in repair so I had to wait past the 30 day limit and unable to return kayat) Cheap but unable to use Reply
I’m sorry you had a terrible experience with this kayak. Thank you for letting me know. I know most of these cheap recreational kayaks are the same where the seats are extremely uncomfortable, there are no rod holders and if you drill into them the warranty is voided. My cheap kayak was exactly the same way. That’s why I upgraded the seat, added rod holders, carry handles, Scotty mounts, anchor trolley, and stabilizers just to able to fish. The only thing I really can’t do is increase the weight capacity. That’s why when I saw it had 425lbs. weight limit, for $400 I decided to let people know about it as most kayak will cost between $1000 to 5000. I know most kayak designed for a big guys do weigh more than 75pounds. If their customer support is bad that is big issue. Instead of paying $200 to return it, I would try to sell it locally as I’m sure there will be someone looking for a kayak that has a bigger weight capacity. Anyway, I appreciate you letting me know your experience and I’m sure it will help others who are considering this kayak. 🙏
Hey busy dad I really enjoy watching your videos I just got into fishing and I would really like if I can meet you out at lake mead and ask question and just watch you fish in person so I can better understanding of what I’m doing I would greatly appreciate if you ever have the time for something like that
Sure let’s do it! What days do you usually go fishing? What fish do you want to target or catch? Depending on your preference, we can pick a day and a spot that will work for us.
As of now if free pretty much everyday besides this Saturday and as for fish I’m still getting to understand what kind of fish we have and what to use to catch for them just if there anyway to contact you and anything that works for you just let me know what I should bring
I was planning to go out this Sunday. Since the weekend gets busy with families we can fish at either Hatchery Saddle Point or Boulder Harbor. It will be hot so I usually try to get there around 6 am and leave around 11 am. Using frozen anchovies we can target stripers and catfish and I can bring corn and my pack bait to target carp. You can also bring lures for bass if you like. My cell is 808-256-8375. Feel free to call or text if you have any questions.
I use a Carolina Rig with a carp feeder cage and 2 hooks below that with 3-4 kernels of corn on each hook. In the carp feeder cage I use a pack bait with corn flake cereal, panko bread crumbs mixed with half can of corn and the juice of the can corn. Here’s a video with my carp setup: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-VqXPy4nnWQg.htmlsi=L47HW8cWXSJ23Hda I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks for watching 🙏
I can stand but not to the point where I feel comfortable fishing. Maybe if I lost like 50 lbs. it will be fishable 😉 I’ll try to make a recording next time I take the kayak out.
Sinclair in boulder has them too but thanks to you i see they are half the price at Walmart! Thanks for this tip I'm going to have to check out the Walmart on marks st. To check out this huge clearance section for fishing gear! Awesome video!
Hey nice fish man! I'm glad you greased up your reel! Too bad you didn't catch one so we could hear it in action! I'm a lake mead regular and the best fishing i do is at night at the tires in hemmingway. We tie off to the tires and throw out a green light off the side of the boat and fly line a anchovie and catch about 40 stripers in a few hours. Great fishing! Would love to see a video of you trying it out!
Wow 40 stripers in few hours. That sounds like fun. I must try one of these days when I have a chance. What time at night do you usually go? How bad are the bugs fishing at night? GoPro footage in the dark is horrible so will need to figure something out first. Anyway, thank you always for your suggestions and watching my videos. 🙏
For catfish and carp, Near Hemenway Harbor all the way to Special events beach should be pretty good. Also, Boulder Harbor and Hatchery Saddle Point maybe a little easier to reach the deeper water. Hopefully the wind will subside. Good luck!
Hi Peter, I get my bait at Walmart. Never knew there was a huge tackle shop in the Marks St. shopping center. Will have to try it. Last Wednesday, I went to Floyd Lambert park where it took me 6 hrs. to catch a 5-6 lb carp using oats, canned corn, chopped bread and red jello flavoring. Fake corn as hook bait. Took a long (and relaxing) time but it was worth it. OK, Peter, all for now. Take care. Later... George Bonafino
Anytime you can hook up to any fish it makes it worthwhile. I do have some fake corn but never caught a carp using fake corn yet. That will be my next challenge. 😉 Thank you always George.
The one I used is by Attwood. It was on sale at the time for less than $30 at Walmart. There is also a similar one by Wise on Amazon. I chose Attwood because it was cheaper but either one should work. I would wait until it goes on sale tho. I hope this helps.
I never used liver for carp. I’ve heard it’s great for catfish but didn’t know it works also for carp. I must try. Thanks for the great tip and thank you for watching. 🙏
Hi Peter, Been a long time since your last video. Great Carp! I went out this past week, to the right of the fishing platform but was skunked. I finally figured out how to set my Casio watch but I use only two features: the time and the fishing mode. How do you find out when it is good fishing in the future using this watch? Say the next day or next week? I found out there will be a new moon on May 7 at 8:21 pm. I don't know why the mins. were included but that is the info I found on the net and I will be out maybe a day before or after. About 5 or 6 days ago this watch went bonkers for about 1-2 days. The face was filled up with fish and it was blinking "fish". It was exciting to see but I couldn't get away. OK, all for now. Looking foreword to your next video! George Bonafino
Hi George, Sorry for the late response. I also saw on my watch when the fish indicator was going crazy that whole day. I couldn’t fish that day as well but was exciting to see. In order to see the moon phase for future dates, I think you can go to the moon phase cycle and hit the top left button again to change the date for specific day. I personally don’t use that feature. On the day I’m going out, I’ll just check the indicator for specific hours on that date usually right after midnight to check the good times to be fishing. Thanks you for always commenting. I really appreciate it. 🙏
The location is between the fishing pier and Boulder Beach. If you go down the Boulder Beach Front Road, you should see a sign for canoe/kayak beach. The road (unpaved) will take you down to the beach. I hope this helps.
Yes, I’m still making them. Got busy with work, family vacation, having visitors and making time to edit my videos. I need to edit 3 outings so those should be out soon. Thank you for your patience and support. I really appreciate it.
The basic setup is a Carolina rig with 3/4oz or 1oz barrel weight. For stripers and catfish I usually use frozen anchovies cut in half for the bait on each hooks. I get the frozen anchovies from Walmart (in the fishing section). For carp, I use pack bait in the carp feeder cage using 1/2 cornflakes and 1/2 panko bread crumbs (sometimes I’ll add strawberry jello) with half the juice from can corn. Then I’ll put 3-4 kernels of corn on each hook. You are allowed 2 hooks on each pole here in NV. The hooks are tied using T knot and I usually use size 4 circle or octopus hooks for both stripers and carp setup. I’ve been using 12lbs. Or 14lbs. Line with 20lbs leader. I hope this helps. Thank you for watching my videos and for your questions. 🙏
I went last weekend by the special events beach tried anchovies and some small plastic rigs but no luck will keep on trying a different spot soon thanks for the tip
Hello Busy Dad! Following your channel! I haven’t gone fishing in like 3 years. After watching your video, I finally got the itch to go. Whats the best spot to go fishing at Lake mead for beginners. I’ve never fished there. Thinking of going next weekend🙏
That is awesome! On the weekends it might be a little busy but if you can get a good spot I like Hatcher Saddle Point, Government Wash or even the fishing pier might be a good spot.
The location is between the fishing pier and Boulder Beach. If you go down the Boulder Beach Front Road, you should see a sign for canoe/kayak beach. The road (unpaved) will take you down to the beach.
I wanted to ask you, if you know any locations in lake mead where there is flat area or shallow areas to fish for striped bass? Cause I am a fly fisherman and casting distance is very limited to my style of fishing, thanks 🙏 great channel.
Near Hemenway (special events beach or canoe/kayak beach) is pretty shallow and flat. With waders you can most likely reach stripers early in the morning or late afternoon. I’ve seen others fly fish at Hatchery Saddle Point too. I hope this helps. Thank you for watching and commenting🙏
It just needed a little TLC. I cleaned it and gave some needed oil. It should sound much better thanks to you😁. Now I just need to hook up to a 20 lbs. carp that will make the reel scream! Appreciate you watching my videos and commenting. 🙏
There is no sign. Just stay on the left of the harbor. Once you reach the main lake the bank will bend towards the left. Continue for few hundred yards and you should see the old water tower. I know the water level went up since my last video there so not sure how the bank looks now but you should be able to find a spot to fish. Some spots are very rocky so be sure to wear good shoes.
I usually get it from Walmart. It’s in the freezer in the fishing section. If they’re sold out I go to Sunset Market and Liquor at 1000 E LakeMead Parkway.
I went out last Saturday. I’m thinking about going out next on Saturday morning. It’s supposed to be windy so I’m not sure exactly where but I’ll check the weather forecast tomorrow and make a decision. Maybe Boulder Harbor, Box Car Cove, Hatchery Saddle Point or near Hemenway.
