Howa HACT trigger is really good. I was able to cut a couple of turns on the trigger spring to get the trigger pull down to 13 oz and 16 oz for the 2nd stage pull weight on 2 different rifles
The problem I see with all scope reviews is that there is a lack of objective measurements. You can measure light transmission through optical glass. All my telescopes will give their light transmission scores, but you don't see scope reviewers demanding that information. Color and clarity are also measurable. APO glass will bring all 3 colors together at the right spot. Non-APO glass will give lens aberration. And just what glass is being used? Are they using Ohara glass or something less. I'm sure there must be ways to measure the stiction of every moving part on the scope and provide some idea as to what is too loose or too tight. So while it stands to reason you aren't getting a $3000 scope for $500, but how close is the EP5 to the high end competitors? Saying it can't be as good is likely true but how close does it get. I"m betting for some competitors the new 7x35x56 gets pretty close.
I agree 100% if a sub thousand dollar scope was blowing all the premium scopes out of the water, wouldn’t they become obsolete and everybody would be running these China made Arken Optics… Sure I think they’re a good scope for their price, but I also think they are more suited for that old wore out lever action 30-30 you keep behind the seat of your pickup.
This is exactly the best way to compare scopes. Very surprised that I just discovered your channel. I am now a subscriber keep up the good work head to head is the name of the game.
I own a lot of optics, NightForce, Kahles, Leupold, S&B and ZCO’s… I bought a 7-35 Arken… that Arken out performs any Vortex… now is it a Tier one optic.. No… but I’d take an Arken over anything he has on that table… if I was getting into the game and didn’t want to spend money. I’d do an Arken all the way.
Its been 3 years since this video and i wanted to get an arken but there is no one to talk to....costumer service is non existent, so im leaning towards vortex venom at this point
Dude is related to Element scopes obviously,he has their advertising panel aswell...have Razor HD and it has most crystal view of 8 optics i have, cheapest one is 1100 usd...
Most of my scopes are Arken optics I agree with what you have said, during the evening when the light conditions goes down you can notice the difference between and Arken scope and a $2000 or more scope the clarity es far superior. Arken scope are good for the price that you are paying I don't regret any purchase that I made.
I have two Mark fives two Mark 4S and a few vortex scopes . I do have an sh4 on a ar it does not stack up to my other high-end scopes but for the cost it is very impressive. yes I have seen bullet trace on a fairly dry day but it's not consistent on seeing trace or mirage
I'm guessing you're the type that doesn't read manuals or follows the Mfr's instruction on HOW to test the break/tuner !! Worked great on my gun AFTER I completed the PROPER procedure that Eric spells out in several videos.. You just wasted a bunch of ammo that proved nothing.. Liked the video format however..
Mike I appreciate you showing us the Heras I mentioned if you could I wanted to see if it’s as good as the ares as far as glass. From the video it looks like there close and my intention is to mount it on a br 22lr so I think the Heras would be just as effective at 50 yards Anyways thank you for doing that.
So from my own testing… clarity and glass the helos btr isn’t as clear as the arken ep5 but does have the same features. Then the Midas tac HD ffp doesn’t have as many features but is better glass and clarity than the EPS… Midas btr spf has the features and the glass but is sfp.. they are around about the same price range… I personally went for the Midas tac series but all are good depending on what you value most.
If arken wasn't direct sales the dealers like you would inflate the price to $1500-$2000+ dont get mad when a company set out to address this problem in the optics world. For too long customers have been ripped off by dealers more interested in profit than providing good products at reasonable prices. $2000-$4000 for a scope is not reasonable to the consumer when it costs little to nothing to manufacture.
"Why would i do that"... Because you sell products with high margins. You lose money when a company sells a better product with a lower price and you cant get ahold of them to inflate the price due to demand. Arken's Razor 🤣
I ran mine with 6.5 cm aguila 140bthp, just as a test, and it DID tighten up the groups, I have only shot 5 settings thus far. I shot them in 2 click increments, saw it get better, still not done desting it with the same ammo. My testing shows improvements. Your mileage may vary.
Tract toric has really good glass and great tracking. I’ve had one for 4-5 years now on multiple guns and it has never not returned to zero nor can I ever remember it losing zero after being bumped and banged around.
I appreciate the video and feel you are spot on. It’s pure applied physics. In fact, back when I started reloading, there was an old DOS application called PCB and it generated all kinds of useful data and recoil was one of them. It asked for only 3 items of input….bullet weight, muzzle velocity and weight of gun. Keep up the great work.
