We write about the world of A/V (Audio/Visual) gear. We like headphones, amps, home theater systems, speakers, projectors, soundbars, TVs, radios, dogs, coffee and really good bourbon.
Our approach is simple. We believe A/V writing should be awesome. It should be fun, well-written, smart, and give you exactly the right information. We don't believe in bombarding you with pointless stats, super-nerdy breakdowns of different amplifier types, or fetishising audio companies. We don't do sacred cows here, and if a piece of gear isn't up to scratch, we'll let you know about it - and if it's so fantastic it makes us want to peel our clothes off and run naked down the street screaming its praises, we'll let you know that too.
We are passionate, knowledgeable and merciless. We are The Master Switch
that is too big for a portable dac amp. No way i can carry it around with me and use on the train on my way to work. plus it doesnt exist! cant buy one anywhere!!!!
@@trustnoone9921 Wigs! Ha. Love it. Youy should see my hair now man, it's even worse. Also this video is like five years old man...the thing was still for sale when I made it. How did you even find this video? It's old as hell
I have them, it was a gift they aren't better than the 15£ wire ones I bought 5 years ago from the same brand also not better than the 40€ JBL tune 215BT with 16h of use
What do you mean sensitivity is not useful. With impedance and sensitivity we calculate how luck power headphones need. And sensitivity is much important. Looks like you know nothing about. Dislike 👎
Frequency response would make all the difference if baseband audio was used to modulate a higher frequency in order to achieve higher channel capacity. Shannon Hartley theorem states. C= B log2 (1 + S/N) C being channel capacity in bits/s B being bandwidth in hertz S/N being the signal-to-noise power ratio. In the above using baseband audio frequencies would be a limiting factor since they are lower. Modulate a higher frequency and all the gain outside the audio bandwidth becomes necessary. Headphones with built-in amps like the Blue Sadies would need the higher frequency response if amplifying modulated signals and then detecting baseband signals for final delivery of audio. The question is then what is the benefit of delivering more audio in the same amount of time?
Asymetric cable is enough to stay away, they need to weigh exactly the same on both sides, otherwise they`ll ALWAYS hang to one side and just be annoying, bad design.
I've done my own double blind AAC, MP3, and OGG bitrate tests and at a certain point in each codec I can no longer tell the difference reliably. DSD can't fix my inaccurate ears. Not gonna happen.
Thanks Rob for this video. You finally helped me understand what is trully important. All in practicl Nutshell. Salute you from Colombia South America.
You are talking about $800.00 Floor Standing Speakers which are completely different and 4 times more expensive Speakers. This review is garbage 🗑. He has No clue what he is talking about. These are Great Speakers. The Tremble, Mids, and Base are Excellent. You can Not buy a better Speaker for the price.
Cool! I just ordered a Topping DX3 pro+ which has DSD512... look forward to hearing it when I get around to buying some DSD albums. I got a plugin for foobar2000 that apparently uses DSD so not sure what that's about... I have a pretty good FLAC collection some in 24 bit 48 or 96khz.
I don't normally reply to RU-vid comments, and I'm not employed by this channel anymore, but I will respond to this. I did not realise this would happen. Thank you for letting me know! I can't do anything about this video but I will remember this in the future 👍
This sounds like advertising. Let me guess. He sells DSD somewhere. He could have sold it better if he said it’s a better sound. But no, he had to go saying it’s a way better sound by a lot. Lol i listen to DSD. It can be better. But only slightly. Only in some albums it can sound way better such as ABBA sourced from vinyl.
What you explained in the final part IS NOT frequency response. Frequency Response is specifically how the headphones react or the volume at which sound is produced at individual frequencies. This needs to be more clear; a frequency range is not important as you stated (however it would obviously want to be reaching 20kHz for obvious reasons) but it IS NOT the same thing as a frequency response. There are countless resources online that will show you the frequency response of particular headphone drivers, they are a map of the characterisation of an audio driver (how ~bassy, trebley or middy the overall sound is; reference/studio headphones are generally flat).
Dxd is best for me. For some reason, dsd gives me headaches, on any system. Don’t know why and how it is possible. Tried in different show rooms and the result is always the same. Dxd is just perfectly fine for me 😊
Hello, I come to you following the project to buy 6 in-wall speakers Focal 100 IWLCR5 + SIB EVO. Focal puts forward the made in France, a damn good argument in addition in these times following the wuhan virus which rotted the planet for two years, and in extenso the made in china, an easy solution which destabilizes fair competition ET, serious, mediocre quality that ages badly After some research what was not my frustration to see that Focal flagship it seems of the hi-fi made in France, made to manufacture this speaker in China country champion of the world of counterfeiting and flouting of human rights. I am deeply appalled by this strategy of the Focal brand. However, it should be noted that many companies including major brands and prestigious labels manufacture in China ONLY for the Asian market which is abysmal, not for the rest of the world. JBL for example is the only brand to own its own factory in China, few people know it. In addition, nothing is subcontracted except for the monograms and speaker grilles as well as the connectors provided by Neutrik, the best in the audio industry. The inescapable problem is linked to the sites Amazon, Alibaba (wholesale) and Aliexpress which distort the situation by relying on the fact that globalization cannot prevent them from delivering to Europe and France. Focal shoots itself in the foot by relocating several series to China because it quickly becomes known and the made in France so much claimed by the brand is shattered. Look on the back of the attachments, the mention made in china appears very legibly, it is unthinkable. Please accept the assurance of my most distinguished greetings. Eric MORATA
