I love everything drones! FPV drones, camera drones, entry level drones , micro drones, accessories, and more.
All of my reviews are intended to share my knowledge and honest experience with you to help guide and sometimes entertain. My day job is a software developer / computer programmer, so I try to give a more technical view. I hope that you find them helpful and informative.

It’s all about just getting stick time and hours in sim. Thanks man. I’m not sure I feel like I can fly this way with the Avata 2. It was so heavy set feeling compared to Avata 1, I really think it makes an impact on doing these moves.
I flew the Avata 1 manual mode, I honestly did far better with the Avata 1 freestyle. You can see that experience here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BSc0cVfWmNI.html
With the goggles just remember the back button is on the top and the power button is on the bottom. The goggles are a controller relay, the drone will fail safe without them even with the controller on. I got stuck in a menu and accidentally held the power button trying to back out. The Avata 2 went into failsafe RTH into a tree and fell from 40 feet. I caught it though, and it's completely fine other than losing my ND8 😂
Yeaaaaaah this is super important and I didn't know this either at the time. It never happened to me because I have not considered shutting my goggles off while the drone is runninng, but I've seen some people figured this out a much harder way than losing an ND filter if it's any consolation. 😓
Just got mines today and after messing about with it for a bit and installing the app and new firmware updates iv noticed that the turbo charge mode doesnt work. Im standard i get around 155w and on silent i get around 105w, when i put it on turbo it sits at 155w the same as standard. Any information on this anyone ?
Nice viddy, but wishing you filmed your joystick movements with a second camera and inserted it into the viddy. That would have provided a real education.
Sorry for not doing that - I would check out Joshua bardwell’s freestyle tutorial series if you’re looking for content like that. Trying to replicate stick movements from a fast paced freestyle video is actually very difficult anyway. He goes through how to do multiple different types of moves in much more depth and longer detail than I ever could in an 8 min video just demoing the capability of the Avata 2.
Thank you so much for this video. I upgraded my Bassline to BF 4.4.2 and it works. Oryginaly it was BF 4.5 I tried to bind my radio for few days and without you prabably I would not fix this issue.
So happy to hear this, thank you for the kind comment. I need to do a 4.3, to 4.4, to 4.5 video next. We have been pretty lucky to be able to hop from these versions _mostly_ with just a few things to reconfigure over the years, but sometimes there are "gotchas." Almost all of my main fleet are on 4.5 right now, haven't had any issues like that yet.
I'd like to hook up a loud Matek beeper (lost a build in the grass recently) with a switch in my Zorro. If there is a way to do this, please help- Thanks in advance!
I crashed my 5" a week ago. Smacked top first onto pavement. Accidentally flipped arm switch instead of change profile switch...... Can not figure out how to get it back flying.... I have done almost everything, except replace the stack..... checked for continuity on the circuits, everything comes back clean..... some guy said it was a bad bec on the FC so i ordered an external 5v much like you have here and installed it the way i was shown, powered lipo into drone and POOF, smoke..... completely fried the internal 5v bec on the fc.... so that tells me the BEC was fine to begin with ( i have no idea why it shorted out. No i don't have a smoke stopper, i'm broke cuz i just spent 4 grand on drones) So, now I'm 4 squares in front of where I was before.... in even worse shape.... I have completely desoldered and removed the stack from the frame...... the motors are good, all continuity there..... when I power up the drone (originally, can't now) i got the first 3 initial beeps and then the duh-duh 2 delayed beeps afterwards, so that tells me nothing was wrong with my stack to begin with, right????? I am getting NO POWER connection in BF... does not detect battery, motors will not spin up.... no motor beeps..... what in the actual FREAK am I doing wrong?????? SO DISCOURAGED AND FRUSTRATED RN. BUT THESE ARE THE THINGS THAT KEEP ME FIGHTING.
Great tutorial on how to set-up your Avata 2 for full manual mode. I'm glad you a chance to fly the Avata 2 in manual mode using the new FPV controller 3. And you did great for your first time, at least as long as you stayed away from those trees, LOL. I love that FPV course you set up there, nice for testing out new FPV drones. Great video, and thanks for sharing John.
@@GeorgeKopp It seriously does feel harder to pull some of these moves off with the Avata 2 compared to the Avata 1, actually. Throttle is touchy as well. It's capable but really needs a lot more gas to get through any of it. Must be partly less thrust from the 3-blade prop on t he 2 vs the 5-blade on the 1.
Cool to see you around man! Yeah, these drones are not designed with this in mind, but it's fun to test the limits. There's something about manual mode on this drone that feels harder to fly for me than the Avata 1. I can't put my finger on it... it shouldn't have been so hard to get that gate power loop low to the ground. Maybe I just need to spend more time with it.
Yeah… it feels harder to pull some of these moves off with the Avata 2 compared to the Avata 1. Throttle is touchy as well. I’d like to try flying them back to back, to really see if it’s just me or not. This was my first try in manual mode though sooo yeah.
Would you say goggles 3 o4 is worth upgrading from the integras 03+? I intend to fly the Air 3 with integra. Haven't opened the Integra goggles yet... What about the real view? Is that a selling point?
Mine is still alive! I consider myself extremely lucky, I have heard similar about these vtx dying but mine has continued to work great. I use betafpv lava 1s 550mah batteries for it now though.
@@JohnCuppi Thanks for your answer ! And now in 2024, have you find ''better'' HD tiny ? Like Meteor85, or Bassline 2S, or Flywoo, or other... Don't know where to go for my first HD Walksnail witch can be strong and alive for long time! 😅
@@alexs655 I bought a happymodel mobula8 (85mm) and it's really fun too. The frame of the mobula8 is bad though, it was not durable, it's sitting broken. I never had the time to review it. ☹
@@user-yk6qk8dj6xyou need to just upgrade to 4.5 and start from there, because 4.4.x had a lot of issues. 4.4.x is no longer recommended at all for GPS rescue. I’ve already upgraded the quad in this video to 4.5. make sure you start with the all new 4.5 GPS default settings
Hi! Thanks so much. Unlike Goggle 2, you don't need a cable connected to a smartphone to fly avata 2 and goggles 3. DJI fixed that 'problem' that Goggle 2 had as well. Although, initially it wasn't a problem, it was an issue that occurred later in a firmware update due to Remote ID.
Thanks a lot. YOU are PERSONALLY RESPONSIBLE for making me cancel my order for the flight stick and the goggles 3…only to order the three pack instead for only $299 more. And just kidding, the kicker for me was seeing you crash the Avata 2 into “the rafters” and it was no big deal. That drone looks like it is meant to be crashed into things and is rugged enough to just keep on going. I’m seriously very happy about this move. For only $299 more I get the Avata 2 which would have cost me an additional $499 at DJI. It was a no brainer. Best of all? Amazon is sending it to me so that I will get it tomorrow morning between 4 and 8am. That is way better than waiting another week for both the goggles and motion controller to come. Thank you!
This is a wonderful comment. Thank you, you're going to have a ton of fun with this quad. I've since crashed it again after this video, and so has my friend. We haven't had it fall apart on us.
The voltage settings apply for DC only. For a US wall socket you’d be using a built in AC adapter which is auto configured, if you bought the Ac/Dc version.
Yooo, I've wore them for the first time yesterday and boyy, I have an issue with them. That forehead pillow made a mark that wasnt going off for hours! I think like 10hr literally have passed and the mark was still noticable. 😢 wth 😂
Hi John, I am hesitating either to buy DJI Integra or DJI Goggle 3. Under condition that they can bind to most of models like Integra in the future, what do you suggest? DJI Integra or DJI Goggle 3? Thxs
Goggle 3. I have tried the Integra and they are ok, I did a video about them. I liked them at the time over the goggles 2. My vision in integra was better/fixed and the comfort was improved but still not all the way there. After trying goggles3 I did not realize how much better this goggle was going to be compared to the integra…
If you do not want the shark head, @TorontoFPV has shared with me a nice direct fit canopy replacement for those that have a 3D printer: makerworld.com/en/models/441878
No, but I’m probably not a good person to ask this. I have been flying fpv since 2016, I’m used to how these moves look in the goggles. I would say that slim style goggles like this are less “in your face” so to speak, kind of like being middle-to-back row at a movie threatre. Some feel it’s less immersion because of that.
Yes. There is a defogger fan/function in the menus that I missed. But I never had fogging with either Goggle 2 or Integra, so I am probably not the best person to comment on that.
I get this occasionally too, and when I do, the first thing I do is reboot. Usually resolves it. If it didn't, I would just reinstall/refresh the drivers with the ImmersionRC Driver Fixer tool.
That’s fair to prefer the huge LCD screens of the V1 over the smaller OLED that they put into this form factor - but that’s pretty much every goggle in this style, and not unique to DJI. I still like a lot of things about my V1 goggles too, and if they don’t add vista support to G3 I’ll surely be keeping them.
