It could very easily backfire and sink the company entirely, but I really hope that Spotify's last-gasp move is to leverage their ubiquity in the space to try and force the Big Three to back down and accept more reasonable terms. An insanely risky maneuver to be sure, but the average user is NEVER going to subscribe to more than one music service, even if it means giving up legal access to 60% of the songs they like, and everyone involved is acutely aware of that. I say call their bluff; dare them to either take on the burden of distributing their own music again, or play ball and be content with "just" their earned payouts. The big labels are very much in control of Spotify's relevance, but the inverse is I think also more true than they'd like to admit.

Since Spotify DID raise it’s price and even stopped offering it’s Hulu bundle (not sure when my Hulu account is gonna stop working now) I’m curious what this might do to the market as a whole. Will Apple Music, which may not offer podcast, yet Apple DOES have a free podcast app for it’s user base raise it’s price? What about Amazon Music? Will the other music streamers follow suit… or will these bigger companies keep their prices on their music platforms more consistent? In a way allowing customers to grow more annoyed with Spotify and consider moving. (Heck, before I stopped to take a deep breath, I already considered moving to Apple Music before realizing that the streaming service market is a very fickle place, and I should watch what happens next before making a hasty decision) Maybe, should Apple Music and others not change their prices, it’s time to move on to another platform. Since I already have RU-vid Premium (mostly to use its download functionality) I know I already have access to its music platform anyway. Idk, but whatever happens next will be quite interesting for consumers.

My children had a rough start in life and as high schoolers are only beginning to get to live life normally. They have IQs in the low 120s, but they attend a school environment wherein the attitude is that you're a waste of time if your IQ is less than 130. I seem to be the only person who understands that they're going to be fine in college. This video was actually remarkably RE-moralizing for me. It drives home the fact that my children's main problem is not their ability but rather the insecurities of the professionals responsible for educating them.

I would have sold Spotify to the record labels and created a competing service that caters to independent artists and be it's own label. Eventually it would overtake and crush Spotify.

A very interesting video. As an Irish citizen, I can say this tax regime benefits old money in Ireland but it is a sucker punch to any young person aspiring to buy a house. See, what people here don`t understand is that the Irish government is pursuing a policy of inflating Irish house prices for their own personal benefit. Now if the US for example were to use it`s muscle and brain to clamp down on these tax shenanigans by their own corporations, those corporations would no longer have the same incentive to stay in Ireland. If only a few of them were to pull out, that alone could be enough to put a pin in the inflated house prices here as several thousand would lose their jobs and several thousand more in supporting businesses would also find themselves unemployed. This would result in a spike in mortgage defaults, an increase in negative equity, resulting in more defaults and the banks would have to deal with that. Lower house prices lead to lower rents so trouble would be passed on to the REITs and homes would become affordable. A Trump victory in the US will do that, (I hope). Another option, is Ireland could persuade the multinationals to render their Irish operations entirely different businesses, even to the point of rebranding them. Then Ireland could leave the EU which is going down anyway and we could join BRICS+.

Singaporean here. I have lived in the US for 5 years and during that time I came to appreciate my home country. We have affordable public housing and healthcare. Everything is very efficient. Sure protests and strikes are illegal, but I won't complain because there will never be public transportation strikes (as opposed to some Western countries.) We do still have a voice. The ruling party is still concerned about our welfare and happiness and if netizens complain too much about something they will backtrack. The only downside here is the lack of natural resources, countryside and space. But we have one of the best airports in the world and it was extremely easy to fly anywhere. It is so safe people use their phones to reserve seats at restaurants. As a woman I hardly have to think about my safety when walking at night. The pros significantly outweight the cons. Come to Singapore and see for yourself.

Can’t afford it now, but if I ever get nebula, it will be for your content. Thanks for this video. I’m watching it with my sister, who has 9 kids - and we want to help them all find successful and fulfilling career paths, and I have been counseling them all to consider the trades as well as college. We live in the US. For various reasons, a couple of them aren’t really either ready or likely to succeed in a college environment, but they do need direction. This video will help us show them that it’s fine to go to college, and can help if they plan to graduate and have a plan for a specific career that requires education, or if they just want to learn and can go for low/no cost. But if they’re thinking of mortgaging their future on the gamble that it will pay off, they need to know the true stakes and odds before they sign on for lots of debt. As a person who went “back to school” in my 30s-40s, including finishing my undergrad business degree and then law school, but who is unemployed two years out, despite having passed the bar, I want them to understand what the student debt I racked up will require, and what it might give the opportunity for. It can pay off, but so can other things.

I'm a musician first, businessman second. Take that billion dollars they spent (wasted) on podcasts, you could fund TEN THOUSAND indie up-and-coming artists at 100k each for record deals to your own label. You could then use your actual monopoly (music streaming) to put those artists on people's feeds more often. You keep all the label royalties from those artists thus recouping your costs and making insane profits And you know, you ACTUALLY invest in your core product - which is MUSIC. Spotify, lemme know when you need a new CEO

The sanctions work in the sense that if they were not in place, NK would have more nuclear weapons by now. By limiting their funds to produce nuclear missiles, the chance of US and SK missile defense systems being able to intercept NK's nuclear missiles will be higher.

I would much rather buy a vehicle directly from Toyota, Honda, etc. than have to deal with a dealership. They really only provide two services: 1) test driving vehicles prior to purchase and 2) after-sales service. Although the "free" after-sales service is usually just simple things like annual inspections and oil changes, which is funded by you the buyer anyway. My annual inspection + oil change and tire rotation, etc. on my 2011 Rav4 costs me around $80 from the shop around the corner from where I live, so I'd much rather go there. Let the manufacturers undercut the dealers. If the dealers want to charge more, they are going to have to earn it and have a good enough reputation that people will want to buy from them instead of the manufacturer directly.

Every since I was connected from bio-nano implants which are inside my body and brain to a computerized control network I am being subjected to both remote neural monitoring and remote neural manipulation, where every facet of my life is under the scruteny of cowards who are unknown to me and who speak to me through an invisible two way energy link. They can detect my actions by remotely monitoring my neurons. They can then comment on my actions and they then give me directions and they have threatened that if I am disobedient to their words they will punish me. They have often punished me. My name is Gretta Fahey from Newbrook, Claremorris, Co. Mayo, Ireland. I told the police about this but was disbelieved and threatened by psychiatric laws. Everyone should be extremely worried about this system because you all have bio-nano implants inside you. The Vatican and their agents are behind this process. They are the power behind governments, banks and royal families. They are Satanists and always have been so.

At 5:40. Spotify absolutely pays per stream. The pool of money from which they pay is based on a percentage of total revenue and is adjusted for factors including which plan (premium, free, family, etc.), the country the song was streamed in, and statutory publishing royalties which also vary by country. But the amount of money that each song - each artist and therefore each record label earns is definitely based on streams. Also, please explain how "it would allow one determined user to bankrupt the company". That does not make sense.

Personally i think it would be better if students did both. They should go to University to get the training for a job they want and then go learn trade that they can tolerate. Sometimes the jobs that only require certificates can be as rewarding as the jobs requiring degrees. When I went to university I really wanted to become a Geologist, chemist, or Nuclear Engineer but I also really wanted to be able to work overseas as I want to see the rest of the world and learn how people live. I could have joined the military and have done that however local people would be less likely to engage with me if I were that and I would be limited on where I can travel is some countries such as China will ask on their visa applications if you are working for the government, military or press. I also understand us servicemen have to go where the USA tells them and there are nations where they arent allowed to go even on Vacation. Despite wanting to be a Geologist or Nuclear engineer as I love rocks, chemicals and radioactive things more than I like people I got a degree in Political Science and a TEFL certificate mainly because I know in order to teach in China I need a BA and a tefl certificate. I also need to have a passport and a clean police record. This is why I enrolled in an online college and went to Brazil where I could gain experience teaching English until I had my BA. While in Brazil I made a point to learn Portuguese at least to the point where I am now able to survive in Brazil without english. When I had time off I would travel to places such as Peru or Chile where I would learn Spanish and ask questions about historical events that happened there. it was interesting to hear Chileans talk about their experiences under Pinochet as some Chileans loved him and other especially those whose family members died despised him. It also interesting to see the Atacama desert and see how Geysers work and learn how salt is mined. It was neat to go to Peru and experience the amazon Rainforest. After going to the amazon rainforest which I now call the Amazing Rainforest I have become much more concerned about its wellbeing. After awhile I travelled to Philippines where I learned Tagalog and I learned to prepare a lot of the cuisine. I also finished my degree while in the Philippines. I like Leche Flan and pansit. After a few years of that I traveled to Cambodia where I began to learn the Khmer language and stayed until I got my first position in China. While i was in University I had studied Mandarin so it was fun to live in China. I just love the reaction of Chinese people when they hear me Speak Mandarin to them. While living there not only did i get to improve my Mandarin but I also began to learn Uyghur which is basically Turkish written in Arabic . I also got to experience China first hand which was a huge shock for me. The US media had me thinking China was an oppressive hellhole when in fact there are many things about China which are better than the USA. I liked the high speed rails, I liked having cameras everywhere because i was more confident that I was safe from criminals. I was more confident that the police and political authorities were competent and were going to respond to my problems if i had them and i really like how their social insurance worked as it not only provides retirees with a pension but also housing, healthcare, maternity leave, and disability insurance. Between contracts I would return to Cambodia and a few times I would work in Vietnam where I learned to speak Vietnamese and also learned the Vietnamese perspective of the Vietnam war. From their perspective they were resisting foreign invaders and because of this I came to greatly admire the Vietnamese. They were able to beat The American, French, English, Australians , Chinese and everyone else who invaded their country. I also like how in Asia that children don't put their loved ones in homes when they are sick or mentally ill but take care of them at home. it is also neat to see children living with their parents until they are married. It is also interesting to see children taking care of their parents financially. This is why when i Cambodian girlfriend asks me for money I do not get angry at her and will give her what I can afford to give. I admire my girlfriend for doing this and know if i were to ever get sick she will care for me like this as well. I think seeing how people live in south East Asia changed my perspective of how i should treat my family as I tried giving my mother money afterwards and she was wondering why i was doing that as she told me she doesn't need me to do that as she has a pension and her house is paid for.
