Im 45 and Griffey imo is the greatest ballplayer in my lifetime...i hate that steriods had to exist especially in a game that lives and thrives on statistics....Griffey never had any alligations...he also missed a significant number of games due to injury...not to mention his defense....Barry Bonds is the greatest hitter ive ever seen with or wo steriods
5;25 I was at that game. Niekro went through the order the first time and was lights out, the next time through, he got hammered. Made Kevin Mitchell look like a little leaguer in the first inning.
So, 15 players between 1929 to 1999, then 13 players between 1999 to 2021.... many of those between 1999 to 2021 have had steroid accusations..... * (asterisk) should all be placed next to all with accusations.
How about the fact that Sammy Sosa, Mark Mcquire, Alex Rodriguez, Barry Bonds all have Steroid claims hanging on the home runs they supposedly hit. And who should never ever be put in the hall of Fame.
I remember seeing Bonds played in AAA in San Bernadino. They played the National Anthem, and people were laughing. Bonds was in the outfield, but he stood there facing the outfield wall. The flag was behind home plate.
So, when are we going to get the next Cal Ripken, Jr. and excitement and glory back to baseball. I love baseball and have a lot of great memories. But i hear baseball is not loved by as many people now. Too many people care about the violent NFL and its politics and the tattoed convicts that play pro Basketball.
You will never have baseball like McGwire, Bonds, Palmeiro, Gtiffey, Thomas, Rodriguez, Thome and Sosa battling it out every single day. About one or more a year joining that club.. 50, 60, 70 home runs a season.. Those were the days men were monsters.
@@unstepintime I know. My sons coach played back in the day, opted out, but said you couldn't keep up with them. But it was fun back then watching them smack 60 homers a season.
I was there when Bonds hit 500. It was amazing the crowd stood and cheered for at least ten minutes. Haters will hate and HOF voters have ruined the HOF. Bonds is a legend and his numbers prove that.
Ted Williams hit another 21 homers after June 17. His final season had to be one of the best ever for a guy in his 40s, as he was 42 by the end of the season.
Asterisk will always seem silly to me. Sure, guys used steroids. So did the pitchers. But for some reason David Ortiz is never lumped in with the rest. Yet he did fail a (voluntary and supposed to be anonymous) test.
