Great baseball towns know how to show appreciation for great retiring players, even when they play for the other team. Miami is a TERRIBLE baseball town for letting Andre Dawson retire in front of an empty stadium. He should have ended it in Chicago. Cub fans would have showed him true love!
My favourite moment is Ichiro's goodbye in the Tokyo Dome, and esp the moment he berated Dee Gordon for bowing to him. Never found out what he said, but body language to me said "not worthy"... very touching moment
Saw there were a few tributes to those from the left and right coasts, but overall - Midwest much???? Ya missed a BUNCH of greats that weren't necessarily from the Detroit/Chicago/St. Louis area.
Dude, arguably the greatest hitter in all of baseball, he played in four decades, lost five seasons in his prime, and homered on is last at bat, and you don't have Ted Williams on either of your episodes??? You call yourself a baseball fan? Get off your butt and do some research!
Stan was an absolute LEGEND ! Dawson was something to see- on any given day he could hit one out. Thanks for that memory, Hawk ! Ozzie Smith was one of the slickest fielders in MLB history. Biggio was STEADY ! how he didn't get into HoF on first ballot was a disgrace. Ortiz should have hung it up 5 years before he did ! He was one-dimensional and spent by then. ET Willie McGee was a QUALITY player - could do it all..... Adam, Yadier and Albert were Cardinal LEGENDS.... cannot replace them ! It could be looked down upon as blasphemy, but Ichiro could have been the best baseball player of all time . Beltre' was VERY steady and really underrated !
i disagree with what you said about ortiz... maybe you were thinking of someone else. he posted a .1021 ops in his final year. he was mvp caliber, and had at worst a 140 ops+ over his last 5 years.
@@20minutes14 So he could HIT with his arms extended- that's all.... He COULDN'T PLAY ANY POSITION IN THE FIELD or RUN PAST 2nd base. If he hadn't given his "Boston Strong" speech he would have been released long before. HoF is biased toward Boston and Yankees.
