My favorite player of all time! Robbed of the MVP in '87. At least he was rightfully voted into the HOF with Jack Morris. Cool to see he ended that career with a hit.
Just listen to the way the crowd had love and admiration for him and then compare that with the Reggie Jackson boos. Alan Trammell is my dad's favorite player and one of the most underrated players in baseball history
Yeah Trammel was underappreciated for so damn long. But that tends to happen in baseball more than any other sport as far as the HOF goes. But I suppose it does make it more special keeping it much more exclusive than other sports. Both him and Morris for sure deserved to get in!
I still have my game ticket from Tony Gwynn's last game. RIP to my childhood hero. No matter your feelings on the Yankees, whom I loathe almost as much as the Dodgers, seeing Jeter end his career on a walk-off was something special.
I was at Tony's last game. Also Rickey's 3000th hit, and the ceremony celebration for his 3000th hit, and his retirement. Season ticket holder from 1996-2002 at the Murph!
Thanks for posting this. I just came across it today. I didnt have my Dad for the majority of my life. Im 48 and was 14 the last time i saw my dad, today happens to be the anniversary of his death. My best memories I have of him was baseball. Him teaching me how to hit, field and his love of thecgame.
I was at Mariano's last game. I sobbed like a baby. The emotions that night and having Jeter and Andy come out to take him out was just so special. The standing ovation he got was about 10 min not the edits you see.
Nothing beats that last at bat or last time on the mound. Most of these guys played for almost 20 years they became apart of your summer time life and when it was all over they still didn’t disappoint. Baseball still makes old men cry 😊
That Vogt one was one of the coolest baseball moments really Ever, how his Kids announced him Our Dad, it kind of Echoed then he comes up hits a immediate Home Run, I watched it again and it was really cool gave me a tear how 1 of a kind that was.
Seeing Rivera leave the mound makes me tear up because he was so good for so long and the epitome of class and what baseball represents. To see his team mates come out to relieve him was a great moment. That Yankees team of the era was as good as baseball has ever seen with them conducting themselves with such professionalism, just outstanding! Baseball has had some great representatives over the years just like the ones in this video, the reason we fans continue cling to the game. It's always a sad moment when you see the curtain call but it usually just a mere passing of the baton to the next great legend to be. I still remember like it was yesterday when Chipper Jones was a rookie and man did he do the game proud.
We all have that last at bat, that last play you make. But we don’t get to know when it happens until after it happens. Having these moments for the players that earned it, is so cool to watch and be able to appreciate their work over years
I should pin your comment at the top so the 3 people per day who don't know how to read a video title, or complain that clip is in the video, can read from someone else exactly why that great baseball moment is in there. Thanks for watching. ⚾️
I am looking forward to when I can sit with my Grandfather, my Father, Harry Caray, Jack Brickhouse, Ron Santo, and Ernie Banks and watch a game of even play pepper with those legends.
I was at the Gary Carter game, and it was indeed a magical moment. It's the longest standing ovation I've even been part of, and there were a few old timers that had to wipe their eyes.
Man.. I hate the Yankees, but Mariano at the end got me. You should definitely do one of these or a series of these for pitchers being pulled for the final time. For some reason that moment in baseball has always choked me up the most.
I can't watch Joe Mauer's last at-bat without crying, but the one that really brings the waterworks for me is when he stepped in to catch one last time in that final game. He tips his helmet to the crowd and I break down.
This video showed Tony Gwynn's final HIT, but his final AB came the following day, on October 7th, 2001. Tony came into the game as a pinch hitter in the 9th and grounded to shortstop. On that same game, Rickey Henderson got his 3,000th hit.
You nailed it. I left myself a little wiggle room in the title with "Farewells." That double is my farewell memory of the best hitter of my childhood. Your knowledge is spot on, though. I cheated with Griffey's clip, too. ⚾️
I remember watching that game when Gary Carter got that hit. And the irony about it he went over one of his best friends head a form teammate in Andre Dawson. RIP Gary.
This was the end of the era of where players played and sacrificed for a single team with the exception of a few. These were the good times when the sport was pure.
Amazing video!!! Just goes to show you how special these guys were. Even in their final at bat, they were able to concentrate and block out the crowd and nerves and get a base hit. Incredible!
This is SUCH a smart video. People love seeing the end of great careers so I appreciate the work you did on it (and the tears you gave me at 7:30 in the morning, ha ha!)
It was great. A lot of whiny "guys" in the comments complained I included him. Thank you for watching. Check out my other videos since you clearly appreciate ⚾️.
@@user-oz2cs7mw5jdon't know why you wouldn't. Vogt resurrected the A's after they collapsed when the zito/Mulder/Hudson era ended and made the games exciting to watch. Will be fun to see how he does with the guardians, he never had the body for baseball but he's a natural coach.
I got a little choked up when Ken Griffey jr hit that walk of RBI to win the game his final at bat. I'm a Twins fan. As such, we don't have a lot to do with the Mariners really. It's always the damn White Sox lol and Yankees! The mother****** Yankees! LOL. JK. Where would baseball be without he Yankees? Anyhow, It was emotional. KG jr is one of the true greats. Watching him retire was an end of an era for me. Never be another Ken Griffey jr. Irreplaceable. I wish we could have had that moment with Kirby Puckett. Sadly, he ended up losing his vision in his right eye due to glaucoma and never got to have his last at bat and a farewell from all of us who grew up watching him and loved him dearly. It was such a blessing having him play for the Twins. I'll never forget watching him hit a walk off homer in game 6 of the world series in 1991.
I am looking forward to more of these. I do hope that you show Kerry Wood's final appearance as a pitcher for the Cubs. May 18th, 2012, he went like he should have as well, with a strike out. The fans gave him a standing ovation for that.
@@user-oz2cs7mw5j Okay my friend, I wasn't aware that there were 2 more posted. I will go and hunt them up and watch. Thanks for allowing me to offer a suggestion on content. I know this isn't mine, but I like to throw them out there to help out a bit.
@yankee_tango much appreciated. Read some of the other comments and you will see yours is appreciated. I didn't know there were so many whiny baseball fans, like they paid to watch this video or like I get a penny for making them. It's just supposed to be fun. Anyways, thanks again! ⚾️
@@user-oz2cs7mw5j I understand your frustration. Whiny people are very common because the feel that their favorite ball player was not on your video. I am grateful that you are considering it and that is all I deserve, because as I stated it is your channel not mine.
13:30 The Gary Carter one was cool, it came full circle he was finishing out his career with his team where he made his name the Expos and his final hit was right over the head of Who? Of course Andre Dawson another former Expo great and teammate of Carter's.
What a crew. T. Gwynn, R. Jackson, Ripken, G. Brett, STEVE VOGT !!! Junior Griffey. Steve Vogt, wow. Like Hendrix, Van Halen, Clapton, and Kenny Fuckin Loggins
Some of these appreciative moments will never be repeated, due to the pitch clock rule. A chance to honor someone's final at-bat may be missed forever.
About 10 of us went to Cal's last game, we all drew a slip of paper with how Cal's last AB would end. I drew lazy fly out, worst $100 I ever won in my life.
It;s kind of ironic about Mickey Mantle. He played his last game on Sept 28, 1968. The next day, his former Yankee team mate Roger Maris played his last game.
Nobody knows who Stephen Vogt is but I do. He seems to symbolize the ignomity of the A's in recent years. This was a team that won 3 straight World Series titles in 1972, 73, and 74. They also dominated the A.L. in the late '80's and into the '90's. Now the A's are going by the wayside. Sad story about a franchise that deserved better.
I haven't watched part 2 or 3 but you gotta include Felix Hernandez's final time on the mound. Just looking out at the sea of yellow K cards waved by the Seattle faithful bidding farewell to their king never fails to bring a tear to my eye.
I was there too! Waited till the end, walked around Comerica Park, after visiting the Barry Sanders statue at Ford Field, few fans were waiting for his SUV to exit. Out he comes in a black SUV, MIGGY clowned around, and in another SUV his daughter had the window rolled down and said thank you for coming. They are raising good kids.
