Ponies & the media don't seem to comprehend the cloud gaming& other platforms game releases. I'm happy to be in the xbox ecosystem. It gives me choices between xbox, pc, ROG Ally and cloud gaming
The Wall St Journal video just parroted a bunch of Microsoft talking points. Its was nothing more than investor propaganda. Xbox has completely lost the console war, and Microsoft is now transitioning into a 3rd party game publisher/distributor.
Not counting Nintendo is a bias bad faith argument. Your reasoning that the console war is only ever "high end machines" discounts that first off during the N64 era the n64 was the 2nd most powerful console. Second off during the PS2 Era the GameCube was actually MORE POWERFUL and more high end than the PS2 was, so by arguing "we only count high end machines" during that time frame we should be counting GameCube vs Xbox and leave PS2 out of the discussion. Not counting Nintendo is just a way of cherry picking facts to rewrite reality into a specific narrative because during both the wii era and switch era Nintendo far outsold both Sony and Microsoft.
It’s pretty interesting seeing a group of people trying their hardest to create a narrative. I used to play everything on Xbox until they pulled that stunt with the Xbone. It’s sad to see how far they’ve fallen but I moved on and could care less about cloud gaming or subscriptions
Yes it is interesting to see a group of people trying their hardest to create a narrative. Kinda like what you're both doing at the moment. Both sides do it and it is so idiotic that the actual gamers enjoy laughing at it. Just play the damn games and enjoy, no one cares what you play on.
@brianopheikens2049 Mine isn't a false narrative. The Playstation is on track saleswise. My point was that in the video, he accused both consoles of falling short because their combined sales are tracking lower than previous generations. Instead of just blaming Xbox.
@countquackula8539 Console sale make very little if any money, why do you think the PS is doing more PC ports. Their game sale have been down from expectations from what they themselves have said and they had very little in the way of PS5 exclusives. You really didn't need to buy a PS5 to play anything since you could play them all on the PS4. Sony is struggling just as much as XBox if not more since their games are very limited and that is where the money comes from. I personally don't care because as long as people believe in one plastic box or another, I keep getting laughs. Fan boys are not gamers in the eyes of most, they simply exist to simp for their box and give real gamer a good laugh.
@brianopheikens2049 The console is Sonys biggest income maker. Sony isn't giving up on Playstation because they are profiting off it. They might not have had many first-party titles this year, but the console had a good amount of exclusives. Most of their games are cooking at the moment. Again, if the console wasn't making them money, then why do a Playstation Pro? Sony knows what their doing.
One thing that has replaced consoles is the mobile phone. Why play someone elses game when you can go live life and make a fool out of yourself. I hardly play any games. I just watch videos. Online. Console owners will need to put videos of their game behind a license for only those who have verified purchase of game.
Many kid these days are gettin pc's because theyre favorite youtubers are on it and also they want to become youtubers, also things like online racing clubs and discord where my 17 year old son spends most of his time in online F1 tournaments, playing through steam. and games like eurotruck sim 2 and obcure steam titles that have a fanbase.
It’s interesting I wonder if all this talk about “ what is Xbox doing?” Was around back when they putting in an Ethernet connection and hard drive in the original Xbox in preparation for broadband internet. Or when they decided to do Xbox live and get people to pay for it. Just look at achievements, Xbox was the first console to do achievements, they might have never been number one in the driving seat, but it’s amazing to see how much they have influenced the gaming space and culture from 3rd position.
What I'd like for Microsoft to do is make Game Pass Standard Game Pass Core and change Game Pass Core to Game Pass Standard with NO free games and price it at $4.99. All I want is to be able to play online and at $5 a month, it would be less than Playstation.
Dude I literally bought Hogwarts legacy digitally for $10. It was on sale for $20 and because of gamepass rewards I collected enough points for a $10 digital coupon. Gamepass is awesome!
I'm switching from xbox series x to high end pc gaming currently. However, me and everyone I game with are strictly multiplayer/pvp gamers. We don't care about any consoles exclusives, period. Definitely, not checking for cloud gaming nor gamepass. Heck, we dont even like cod. We prefer the realism of insurgency sandstorm, hell let loose, bf3, bf4, armor reforged, ww3, chivalry 2, etc. What do we gain from cloud gaming or gamepass?
Contrary to your perspective, I game with a group on Fridays. We all have Game Pass and get access to lots of titles that we otherwise might have never tried (Diablo, Outriders, Gears, Halo, OG Doom, Anthem, 40k Darktide and both Remnant games.. just some off the top of my head that are available in GP). Which has been pretty cool. We are never without something to play, especially if we don’t want to spend on something we can’t agree on in Steam. Just a different perspective. So in my view, it’s a win for PC gamers

Microsoft lost the console war, there was no master strategy. Buying up all the studios still didn't help them release any top rated titles. Microsoft is moving away from consoles because they cannot compete.
Microsoft is knee-capped out the gate because it can’t dictate the pace at which internet infrastructure grows on a global level. Maybe more research and investment into compression, lossless algorithms so game streaming requires lower data speeds for cloud streaming
@@StephenYuan Azure is cloud services. So hosting web applications, cloud servers etc are only one part of the internet infrastructure. You still need high bandwidth networks to deliver those services to end users. That’s not Microsoft’s space. That’s for Telecom companies and ISPs
The numbers this gen are always gonna be lower cause a hell of alot of people are still on xbox one and ps4. The companies know that thats why alot of games are still "cross gen". These console dropped during covid and now we are in a recession so ofcourse its lower
What would've happened if game companies stopped releasing new consoles entirely? And if they just focused on supporting old ones like Gen 8? How'd people have liked it?
@@fishnutz5196 What's the point of new consoles if technology had already peaked at Gen 8? They already had realistic 3D graphics. What more do people want, 4D? Because 4D is impossible for mere human brains to comprehend.
These reporters have a skewed view already so the information while not biased is off in some areas. The notion of gamepass and gamers not wanting to rent games forgets that the subscribers can still buy the game and at a discount thru the subscription. It's a bad faith argument.
Only way for the console wars to end is when all the games are playable anywhere you want playstation on xbox, xbox on playstation... etc.. the other way would be bad for gamers and that would be either playstation or xbox not making consoles anymore...
Guess what? You play it on gamepass and if you like it you buy it for a discounted price. I always do that unless its an xbox studio title as they always stay on gp
For me I dont really want or need to own every game I play... and if I do want to buy somthing on gamepass i just wait for it to leave gamepass and pick it up dirt cheap.. no reason to pay full price for it.
It’s funny I’ve got the original Xbox series S. I’ve got a special yellow series X which is in my brothers loft. Save that for a rainy day. I’ve had two normal series X which I’ve sold. And now I’m back on the original series S. I’m not upgrading again until the next generation.
All these people don't understand that yes you can rent the game but you can also still buy the game just buy the game that's what I do I play it and if I like it enough I will buy the game
Naw never worked out like that see if you can find sale numbers for Halo or Hellblade 2 or Sea of Thieves…. I don’t see many XSX player when I’m on SM2 PVP so it’s doubtful. Just like they said SoT did so well on PSN yet we never heard numbers and it has 10k ratings on PSN so that was a lie too…lol it’s 64.2 million now talk about shrinkage after this Xmas many we’re waiting on the Pro to decide which to get. Xbox consoles are no more the next will be a handheld copycat that will fail just like Zune… no innovators or talent at MS…360 numbers are beyond bloated due RROD(I had 5)the FTC had to step in and make them stop counting replacements.
Microsoft has done a terrible job explaining just how long games are on game pass. Some third party have been on for years. Most are a year, some two or more. They also have a lot of people who think it's streaming only. I've found I have been playing and completing more games than ever thanks to game pass
