Great video, I really enjoy all of your videos. Thank you. My two horses are a Sorrel and a Bay, never planned it that way, it was just the two horses that came my way that had the things I was looking for. The Sorrel is a mare quarter horse that I got when she was just one year old, picked her up for $1, I do cow work on her, and endurance riding and trail riding. I had her is the saddle as a two year old, and working cows and doing 40 mile endurance racing by the time she was 4, . Has never gone lame. Best $1 I ever spent. The other a 9 year old gelding Bay OTTB, spent a little more on him, but I also got him cheap as he was not working out for the previous owner. He really just needed some attention, a lot of exercise, and an firm handler, he is a good match for me.
Hi, my horse needs to be shod all year round due to poor hoof quality and abrasive ground. In winter I use snow grips which go between hoof and shoe and prevent a snow buildup plus a small hoof studs.
Just a good animal for a damned good man. He looks for the best in the horse and apparently he found more than he thought he would. I ride but I have never owned a horse but I would look for something like this.
For all of the horse people out there! Who would have ever connected Marcus Aurelius to horse training? Certainly a true application: “Be tough on yourself and understanding of others”
If you want a horse to last, maybe give them another year or so before you ride them hard like ranch boys do. They will last longer if their knees can close and spine develope before then.
The buying babies or breeding babies route is the only way I can afford the breeding I want in horses anymore. I can't afford to drop the 25K - 100K that the horses I have now would cost me in today's market if I were to buy them. A good friend who bred AQHA reigned cow horse competitors for nearly 40 years before he retired told me: "Good horses aren't cheap and cheap horses aren't good". So I either have to pay a hefty price for a colt but still a price that I can afford or I have to breed them myself because right now the days are gone where you could go to an auction and pick up an 8 - 10 year old fully trained AQHA gelding for 6K. Now days that same horse can run you anywhere from 50K - 100K but you can get a colt of that breeding for 6K every day of the week and twice on Sundays.
I recently audited your RU-vid channel and noticed a few on-page SEO issues that might be hindering your growth: 1. Video overviews are not fully optimized. 2. Titles and descriptions lack SEO optimization. 3. Missing high-volume ranked tags. 4. Create Eye-Catching thumbnails Despite your great video quality, these factors are impacting your views and subscriber count.
great plus elocution and sound are good we would need more on rthe topic, being an elderly person still riding ,i realised 20 years agoi had been missing communication
I grew up in a horse boarding stable and have seen every kind of horse owner there is. I come across you video and heard you mention, “Clinton Anderson 101”, so I had to check him out. With seconds I didn’t like him or how he treated the horse so I looked at another and same. That is not a horse trainer anyone should want to follow. He is mean to the animals and because he is who you follow I lm not interested in looking at your videos. May I suggest someone who is actually good and worth watching for anyone wanting to gain knowledge in horsemanship? Look at Ryan Rose, he is one to follow and learn from!
I follow a lot of horse trainers including Ryan Rose, Buck Brannaman, Clinton Anderson, Martin Black, and many others. They all bring something to the table. The beauty of this craft is there are many good examples to learn from.
@@Stonefieldranch well thank you, i have a little more clout on the breed as well, my mom was a friesen and our family originally came from friesland where the breed originated, but that doesn’t sound as good as the original comment 🤣
Good video, solid info. I put in for 63 this year, hoping I draw a tag. I got charged by a griz in Hellroaring (north of Yellowstone) several years ago. I was holding onto two horses (lead rope in each hand) after taking them to water at the creek. Luckily, I was able to scare him off. I stepped it off, he was 28 feet from me when he quit his charge and took off the other way. Interesting experience!
