Oh my goodness what an informative video. I was on the fence about the Diner edition and almost spent over $200 for it. I realized after watching this video that I do not need it. I have a VDS for functional planning and it is chunky. I like Travelers company for its simplicity; a cover I can take everywhere I go. I like it for journaling/scrapbooking and capturing the days I wish to always remember. I want to make sure it does not turn out to be a functional/planning cover because I would have to enter things twice and who has time for that. My husband and I traveled to Paris in 2012 (way before I knew anything about Travelers Company or any method of memory keeping but we sure did keep every piece of ephemera. In 2013 we went to Italy (Venice, France and Rome) and went to several many other places in Europe every year until Covid. We stopped. A couple of years ago I separated all the ephemera by trip and now I have a cover to put it all in (I got the Tokyo edition) for our overseas travels. The idea of having a separate cover just for capturing those days I want to remember and look back upon is intriguing. You mentioned a place that does embossing (the video script mentions bom kuhan) but I cannot find anything on this. I would like one embossed. Can you assist with leading me to the right place please? Again, thank you for this video!
I use one of mine in the same way. Although, my cover is a plain, non customized cover:(. What cover do you use for this purpose? I got the Tokyo edition and I am going to use this one to insert all my traveling ephemera my hubby and I collected while traveling in Europe.
Useful video. The rustic nature of the TN cover and need to change the refills is what attracted me to this system. Haven’t found anyone who matches my style yet tho.

6:36 I think that having one or multiple planners all depends on how much the person really has going on in their life. Some people write two things a day in one planner and three things a day in another planner. Does that person really need to have two or more planners? Probably not. You have businesses and other things going on, therefore I understand why you don't want to use one planner for everything. I only had two planners before trying to downsize for One Book July. Hence, it made sense for me to try having everything all in one planner. We'll see how it goes at the end of July.
I think you highlighted such an important thing . It’s such an individual choice . I don’t think it comes down to following a trend or not it’s so much more about understanding all the balls you’re currently juggling and the systems you need in place (complex vs simple) that’ll bring you a sense of mental clarity. The irony never escaped me as soon as we chatted about this on the live then I saw that you went down to one booklet ☺️ For you personally as you said it totally makes sense I’ve seen setups though that looked super complex and it was all in one booklet and to me personally it was insanely busy Appreciate your insight as always 🤎🤎🤎🤎

omg you're so sweet! So my tattoo is in Sanskrit and it's a syllable, it's Hum and it's the last syllable of the prayer om mani padme hum which is honouring the divine in the lotus. Please don't quote me on the literal translation 🙄. There is one line that is missing unfortunately so I will have to actually get it fixed but I appreciate you noticing 🤎

Loved your review ☺️ I'm thinking of using this planner for 2025 if I can get my hands on it, if I don't "chicken out" because of the price or if I don't end up changing my mind. I'm in a Take A Note A5 for 2024 and think that the Hibino might be a better fit for me. Love the aesthetic of it inside and out. Also like the bookmarks. The 2 downsides is that it's hard to get bc everyone rushes to get it and I really wished that the Hibino had the yearly column trackers, though. For anyone stressing over not filling out both daily pages. Some ideas: One page can be for your personal/home and the other for work. If you have pets or kids, you can make one page about them/anything you gotta do for them daily/buy for them, etc. Maybe any symptoms the pets/kids have, food they ate for the day, anything a Dr/vet said in an office visit, etc. If you have anything to track with your health (mental and/or physical), you can go in detail on the next page. Put a time next to the symptoms you logged in so you may see a pattern in symptoms and find the culprit. Log in your food of the day. Exercise of the day, etc. You can make one page your schedule and to do list and the other a little diary entry of the day with stickers, drawings, quotes. Maybe forego writing and just draw, add stickers or do a quote. Highlight of the day or if you're into astrology or horoscopes maybe write something related to that. Finally, if you need weeks, perhaps inserting the hobonichi weeks supplement might work. It's not the same aesthetic, but can work if you need it. It's very small and thin. The weeks supplement are undated, if I recall correctly. So it might work.
I enjoyed the video! I am getting back into planning and looking for layout inspiration. It’s also nice to hear what other people are doing with their lives! I think most of us have had those moments of stagnation and it is frustrating and kinda scary sometimes to change things up but change is usually for the better! I wish it would rain where I live! I actually don’t care for summer and it is too hot!
Thanks for this video. I've been eyeing the Hibino but have held back because of the thickness. Is it bulky or can you easily carry in your bag/backpack, etc.?
Thank you so much for this video - it was like a message from the universe for me! I've been using a Sterling Ink N2 vertical for my EDC this year and also bought a Hibino which I was planning to use for a word/doodle a day journal. I ended up not using it for that because I was stressed about it being dated. I love it but I couldn't find another good use for it so after a few failed attempts at using it for various things it ended up in my 2024 planner graveyard, which broke my heart because it's such a beautiful planner. Watching your video made me realise that it would be perfect for my EDC for next year instead of the N2 because I don't like having to date the daily pages myself. So you've sorted out my 2025 EDC! Thank you! ❤😅

Interesting . The paper that came with mine didn’t say it was tomoe river paper I should also add it doesn’t feel the same quality as hobo or common planner but yours might be different
On Midori's website and Instagram they do confirm that the hibino has Trp S. However, the trp isn't the same as in Hobonichi or Sterling Ink. They're three different types of trp.

I struggle with more than 1 journal and planner. I like the cousin, but I don't need the vertical weeklies. I'm in and out of my TNs because I love the coziness so much, but at the same time I think I prefer bound books. I think the new sterling ink daily is the perfect replacement because it's just monthlies and dailies and comes in b6 which is my favorite size. I just haven't gotten it yet. I'm currently in a b6 TN for planning, a cousin for journaling, I have a little a6 and an a5 common place kinda journal. It's too much. I can't keep up with all of it so trying to figure out what to cut/combine. Lovely video!!
I'm using my Hobonichi Cousin like your A5 Hon. I found that it was best for me to add stickers to the spread ahead of time and then, add my thoughts about those days and doodles later on. It made it a lot easier for me to fill it in. I stopped feeling overwhelmed by the space.
I loved your video! I have 2 TNs as planners with the weeklies and the horizontal layout. One is for work and the other for personal stuff. And I have a Midori Codex (just like yours, the one with the corner) for writing thoughts, ideas, and memories whenever I feel the need to. My Codex is very simple too, I put just a stamp with the date and I write in a bullet journal style. And that's it, basically. I started the year with many journals, but I was overwhelmed by March. It was very stressful to keep up with all of them every day. Now, I don't use any decorations, stickers or washy tape and I keep everything to minimum so they can serve me and not the other way around. And so far, it works great!

I love the look of your cousin I have to admit 🥹🥰 My planner system has grown by 2 books since the beginning of the year but so far have been able to be consistent in all of them which I’m happy about since last year I abandoned a lot of planners lol. I am getting that April itch to switch out of my main planner but don’t have a good reason other than boredom so I’m trying to stick it out

I feel the same way about my ring planner, I don’t write nearly as much. I keep trying to make mine work but right now it’s just my every now and then planner. I just cannot commit 😂 Maybe if I didn’t buy a Cousin again I would have had no choice but that would have taken self control that I apparently do not have. I enjoyed watching.
Hello! New subbie here! I had a struggle coming into the planning world what would be good to start off in. I went in a spending spree on getting the classic happy planners. I already had the ring bringers for cash envelopes and I should have used that first before the purchase I did. I know that I liked the ring binder because it’s the right size to carry in my bag, but I can’t put my finger on it why I’m not reaching for it. So now I’m in this skinny classic by happy planner and took out the guts and pretty much using it as a bullet grid notebook where I’m customizing it myself. Your previous video gave me inspiration to keep using it to its fullest. But I do have guilt that my ring binders are laying around 😪. Great video! I’m there with you trying to see what works and what doesn’t but what can work with suggestions 😅 if that makes sense lol.
That makes total sense. I think we change and evolve as well which means what worked for us in the past won't exactly work the same 6 months from now. I think being flexible and being ok with trying new things is half the fun. I'm so glad you found the video helpful ! Thanks a bunch for being here❤
I generally don't "Planner Hop," but I switched from A5 to Standard TN last year, but I found that I really don't need so much space, and I want something more portable. While I was using the TN, I had an experimental B6 plus a Field Notes booklet that I played around with different layouts. I am now moving into the B6 (Sterling Ink half-year blank notebook) and drawing my own monthlies and weeklies (using only 1 page for 1 week.) I leave blank pages in between months for journaling/memory-keeping and use pages at the back for lists and projects. I honestly want to downsize even further into an A6 for 2025 and Field Notes for 2026. I am retiring in July of 2025, so smaller is going to be better for me, but I can still use my Standard TN covers, inserts, and accessories for another purpose (Faith Journal) and my B6 blank notebooks for longer/deeper journaling sessions. I am determined to continue using what I have and will not order any dated planners going forward! I found that I really enjoy creating my own layouts using all of the "stuff" I have accumulated over the last few years. (Also, when I retire, I'm going to be broke, ha ha!)
That is quiete a journey you took from an A5 planner to a TN. Im somewhat debating on doing the same to either downsize my cousin to a TN or the B6 common planner but i cant seem to pull the trigger on it for some reason. The hobonichi has a form of a chokehold on me 😂. Thanks so much for watching !
Thanks for this video. It was really helpful. I have been using the passport size which I love. Recently I bought the standard size and it is huge, so I’m still debating whether I have use for it. Your video had some good points. I’ve been looking at inserts and it sure can add up fast. Hmm! 🤔
In a effort to use up my notebooks this year I started a product notes notebook for my beauty products (haircare and skincare) and a capsule wardrobe notebook (a mix of product notes so I know why I did or didn't like something, my intentions for my capsule wardrobe, occasions to keep in mind so I'm curating my wardrobe to find the different occasions I need to dress for, style ideas, colors and such that look good on me, etc etc). I'm also currently brainstorming a financial independence notebook as that's a long term project for my household and love the idea of just committing for 10 days to the notebook, makes it feel less intimidating that it has to be "perfect" from the beginning as I have a built in window to review and revise as needed.
omg i love the capsule wardrobe and beauty product ideas. I do have a whole seperate notebook dedicated to finances which i must say helps a ton to be accountable for my financial health. It holds my wins and the upcoming expenses which helps a ton. I'm so happy that you found this tip helpful and thank you for sharing☺

Currently I have 11 Pilot Kakuno's inked up and 1 Pilot Mini Diamond 2 Lamy's .... vista & safari inked up (Platinum Black and Black berry) 2 Sailor pens inked up 5 Jinhaos inked up 4 Twisbi's inked up 4 Kaweco's inked up 1 Asvine titanium inked up 1 Monza 3 inked up 1 PBSS inked up 1 Hongdian inked up That's about 33 Fountain Pens inked up...LOL I LOVE having options. 😂👍 😅 😂 🤣 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 2:30 ...If a Fountain Pen (Midori) ever skips on me or leaks on my hands.... I will say RIP and bury it in my backyard, with all the other failed pens. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Platinum Carbon Black is my art ink and EDC notebook and office documents. Diamine is my favorite purchase ink and is the most used in my BUJO / Journalling

3:06...I love *WonderPens* Toronto (Little Italy ...west of Bathurst ,on College st.)....it was my first time there in Early April 2024, and was amazed...they have all kinds of fountain pen / writing groups there...I just wished I lived closer to toronto...lol ... 6:10...I will put the Paper plus cloth on my next trip to Toronto. Looks interesting. 8:45...Yoseka stationary...I like there RU-vid channel . Daisy is awesome There are other shops in Toronto ...which are : 1) Take Notes pen Stationary 2) Laywine's (expensive) 3) Toronto Penn Shop in distellery district (expensive) 4) Midoco on bloor (good prices and good inks/ a few fountain pens) 5) Mr Pen (no fountain pens / no inks / lots of ballpoint and gel pens.)

You nailed all the reasons for and against. I wasn’t new to journaling but last year I decided 2024 would be the year I’ll seriously stick to it. At the end of the day I feel in order to understand what you like and what you don’t you have to give it a try first. Which is what I did and it didn’t work for me but that’s okay at least I know now. I can’t do too much freedom and too many inserts, I don’t like decorating and I need premade spaces to help me feel like I’m being consistent. So since I don’t need much space, I’ve been using a hobonichi weeks for planning and a6 techo for daily journaling.
