If you get used to the not so traditional upper it is a wonderful shoe. One more thing ,for some it might take two more tries to tighten the lace correctly otherwise it gets loose on the heel side. It has a break in period of about 70 km.

I recently purchased a size 11 and 12 Boston 12 running shoe and currently trying to determine the best fit. I found the heel is quite loose and have read some people apply an approach of heel locking. Looking at your video I think this is something your have done, I wondered if you could recommend a video which shows how best to apply the lock?

superblasts, they are more for like longer harder efforts. The bostons are stiff but the fancy more expensive foam in the super’s give more

Why didn't you fly into Valencia in the first place, just loads of practical and logistics issues that'll come out which it did if you fly into other city. Smashing time tho James considering, well done 😅 Doing Valencia next year for first time

Great running, we flew into Alicante on the Friday and stayed there, sat am shakeout in Alicante then drove up on the Saturday to the expo. Flew out of Alicante on Monday, worked really well. I was also in violet wave and banked a 3:04 debut. Spent lots of the race on my own chasing down the orange wave and found people dropping like zombies from 30k which really slowed the pace in that latter stage. Like you say, great marathon. Already booked for 2024

I ordered a pair of these to give them a try. I picked up two pairs of the Adios Pro 3s last Christmas and have been using them like crazy since. One pair has over 650 miles, and just recently wore through the rubber outsole on my left heel. They still feel absolutely amazing, and the difference in feel between my 650-mile pair and my others, which only have 57 miles is minimal. Lightstrike Pro is extremely resilient. Can’t wait to try the Bostons.

Hey James good long run! i had a question im about 3 and half months out from myrtle beach marathon in march. My question is just 2 weeks ago i ran 14 miler at 8 21 average pace and it was around threshold pace 166 average heart rate. I keep hearing from others that i need do my long runs slower at 9 30 pace for 15-18 milers......do u think i need run my long runs slower? i always hear diff things run them faster or u wont get faster! or run them slower or u will burn out! im planning a 3 hour long run saturday u think i need do most my long runs slower at 145-150 average heart rate? or sprinkle in faster paces? i can run 15 miles at 830 to 820 paces but my heart rate be in zone 4
@jamesytrains
@jamesytrains 9 месяцев назад
For me this block I've been pushing hard on the long runs because I've only really being doing the 2 runs per week. If I was doing 5-6 sessions a week I would probably take the long runs slow and have a run 2 faster efforts during the week. As you get closer to the marathon 1 month before the taper, I would start adding in some marathon pace miles to your long runs.

Are you doing any marathon-paced efforts in your long runs? When you ran your 3:28 marathon did anything in your training indicate that you could sustain that pace for the race? I’m running my first marathon in a couple weeks!
@jamesytrains
@jamesytrains 9 месяцев назад
For that training I didnt do too much running at marathon pace or under, most was slower runs. On the day I was hoping to go for a 3:35 and never expected to hit a 3:30 but just felt great on the day. Same with my half marathon. I had never ran anymore than 4 mile in the 6:XXs but managed to pull out a 1:29 on the day.

@jamesytrains 9 месяцев назад
Haha that's interesting. I've actually had to significantly reduce my mileage the past 6 weeks, really only doing a long run and a speed session and I'm seeing some pretty good gains. Just ran a sub 40 10k and am targeting between 3:10 - 3:15 in my marathon in 4 weeks.

I love these! I trained and ran a 3:23 marathon in these recently. Adidas did replace a set after 150 miles because the top mesh started to frey, and now my replacements have started doing the same after about 200 miles where by big toe rubs I think (I cut my nails lol). Also the rear rubber does wear down quite quickly too but apart from that they are the perfect all rounder for someone who just wants one trainer to do it all. I also rotate my trainers and like you mainly use Nike and these are my first Adidas, I think I might be moving to the adidas pro 3 when my Vapourflys wear out.

@marceloamador92024

The boston 11s are like soccer cleats, hard and stiff but I changed the insole and now it feels like a super shoe. The boston 12 are a different shoe altogether more flexible and softer, but yes I would chnage the insole.
