Bringing you alll the content on living life on your own terms while sharing my love for food, fashion, travel and my obsession with decoding life. Oh, and did I mention that I'm the self-proclaimed Queen of Transition? Yep, I've moved around a lot - from my small-town home in Massachusetts to studying at Howard University in DC, to living in San Fran, NYC, Paris, and currently, sunny LA (for now, at least!). I've learned so much along the way and have a lot to share about this thing called life.
So join me on my journey, my friends! Let's have some fun, learn some things, and spread some love along the way. Don't forget to hit that subscribe button and welcome to my channel! :)
It’s interesting that American blacks need to create a black community whereas French have no real issues with colors if immigrants are willing to integrate France! Of course in 2024 this immigration subject is atop of French’s concerns but again not blacks but all immigrants!
Call me crazy, but id rather be viewed as a French person vs being viewed by my race. In america, so much is dictated by race. Id rather people see me for who I am, vs my race. Morgan Freeman said it best. "The best way to get rid of racism, is to stop talking about it".
I don't know if you remember me but, I've been your subscriber for a while. I'm still wanting to go to Paris. You sent me something that would help me prepare for my move. I didn't have any money at the time. But I've grown in a better position. I graduated from massage therapy school. I've been working for a clinic. I want to get my cosmetology license and esthetician license. Here's thing. I'm almost out financial aid to do school here in Chicago. Actually all the programs in Paris, France is very affordable and with a job, I can pay out of pocket. Even finishing my bachelor's degree out in UK would be better. I definitely really want to go. I got accomodations figured out for at least a year. Finding work out there is now my scare. Also the type of work I'm looking for, I'm worried not speaking English is going to be a problem. I would want to work as a massage therapist out there. My other skills are phlebotomy and customer service. Just my associates in media. I do want my own business but, just starting off, getting settled in there what advice can you give me? Should I stay where I am for the rest of the year and take up some French and planned for my move 2025? Is there a agency I can go through that can assist me with looking for work? Would it make since to save money for 6 months and then get move there, then maybe I'll stand a chance of going through local services once moved? What are your thoughts? Who did you bank with there? Is there a bank I can start banking with without being a resident there in advance?
I love the fact that France doesn't collect stats on race. This is because I think race is something that people should have the freedom to decide on a personal level; however, the downside is that black business owners in France have it harder in determining where the best place to locate their business (in terms of where the big bucks are) in comparison to the US.
This is because the concept of race was removed from our laws and even very frowned upon here. ok so it's a bit hypocritical but we use the term ethnicity and in fact it is officially forbidden to produce ethnic statistics here
Make reservations for restaurants. They usually have just two seatings. They also buy the days product fresh and seasonal. Meaning. They don’t have giant walk in freezers. So they are making to order meals . The reservation tells them how Many people they are serving for the day, and buy accordingly. Most places don’t know whom you are nor care. Kindness goes a long way. many people they are serving. It’s about quality. Not the almighty dollar. Please take a moment to observe and read a room. If everyone is speaking in hushed tones. Please be respectful. By Most restaurants have half to a quarter of the wait staff. The waiters bus and also bring or make drinks. So being in a hurry is not a good thing. Most restaurants only serve wine or beer. So not to destroy the taste buds.
I think it wasn't a real taxi. Lately, there are people pretending to be taxis at CDG airport. This is a real problem for real taxis and for the police who are doing their best to stop this. So sorry for you.
You are spot on ! Im tired of the ppl in my life, mainly relatives. I m ready to leave and embark on my own 6 crazy but the life i want to live is extremely different from ppl i know ans thats okay .
"French people are rude" One tip: wherever you go (Shop, restaurant, office, neighbour's place...), use the magic word before starting any discussion: "Bonjour". This will make a huge difference.
It's so crazy, I am in the US Army and on all of our documents we also write our dates like that lol. I didnt start writing my dates like that until I joined the military lol. We write our 13APR24 or 130424
Omg...I needed this reminder..this has been my month and definitely feeling it this week. I finally accepted that growing means you experience growing pains, and they are going to be uncomfortable and sometimes painful. ..
Thank you for this encouragement. I'm trying not to stress. It definitely helps to see it from this perspective. I had a good run, though, being in that majorly chill season.
