The RE 27 does not sound like that. I think there was something wrong with that mic or you weren’t putting enough gain into it. Somethings not right with that.
What's the distance and speed on that link? I know you're one to trade speed for error correction, but I'm curious if you tested the full capabilities, just for kicks.
Violet Globe sounds best to me. But I'm listening through 3/4 inch speakers on a laptop PC so it's meaningless. I always laugh at sound comparisons that aren't being done in person. I once had a salesman at an audio store try to sell me a set of speakers based on how they sounded playing an album of electronic music. :) BTW, I'd use the Heil for noisy environments and ham radio.
Ohhhhh thank god the RE27 was broken, I’m currently using an RE320 and watched this video to hear the 27 compared to other mics. When I heard the 27 I said out loud “oh my ducking god, is that even close to what I’ve sounded like for the last year, and I’ve just been missing it somehow????? Ohhhhh crap!!!!” This was followed by a number of indecent words and vulgar grunts, I am SO glad the mic was defective. Also, The Heil sounded really really good, but I was most taken with the Globe as I’d never heard of this microphone, much less heard one. Thank you, great comparison.
i will think for some reason the RE27N/D is not getting a fair share, I guess this is to promote Heil over the EV27 , I owned the RE27 and never sound like out it sound in this review, something is definitely wrong.
@@KirkHarnack Will like that you compare the latest in the industry "The Icon Pro from earthworks will like to see how it compare with the Heil, EV RE27ND, and Sennheiser MKH416.
i recently bought the bm800 mic which is pretty much the same, but isn't it supposed to work directly on the PC? like XLR to 3.5mm mic in? im having troubles with it
The cable that comes with these microphones, typically female XLR to 3.5mm, is a bit of a gimmick. It might work with your PC, but probably not very well. Your PC’s mic input probably provides a slight bias voltage that’s intended to run a small, cheap condenser mic, such as found on a cheap headset. This bias voltage from the PC is likely not adequate for a larger, pro mic like the BM800. Also, even if it does work, the mic pre-amplifier in the PC is, quite frankly, terrible. They all are. You really need an external mic pre-amp with USB output for the PC connection.
@@KirkHarnack it did come with a V8 sound card and when connecting to PC via the V8 it absolutely sounds horrible, the headphone i have is way higher but with an annoying static in the background and thats why i gave a standalone mic a go. appreciate the help
There's no way that the re27 sounds that bad. I have heard the re27 and the pr40 side-by-side in other videos and they sound almost identical. Something is wrong with that microphone that you have or the preamp. Or maybe it was a marketing Ploy for heil.
Listening to Art in the middle of the night via an AM network station, while being all alone in a deserted and desert location, laying in bed with a portable radio sitting on your chest, during the years he was at the height of his popularity, plus the way he presented his show, plus the way he put it all together. It is like trying to find another human with his exact fingerprints. It was near perfect and will never be duplicated. Someone, some day, may come up with something different or perhaps even better in its own way, but there will never again be another Art Bell and his uncanny way of talking about the world of paranormal...making you grateful that the sun came up in the next few hours.
Indeed. He was one of the all time greats. Right up there with rush and paul harvey. And his interviewing skills were second to none. I didnt like the space alien content or the woo woo content, but i still listened just for the quality of the show.
