The problem is that JC said the exact opposite of 'I'll make it right'. He said if you insist on helping these people I won't be able to protect you. And WWX trying to hide the secret from JC regarding their cores had already put distance between them that was growing constantly as WWX refused to due any duties surrounding orthodox cultivation with no explanation. And rumors and political pressure regarding WWX's alt cultivation were constantly rising. It's why when in the final confrontation with JGY it hits JC really hard when, post core reveal, JGY points out the fact that the Jins wouldn't have been able to do anything if JC had chosen just trust WWX or at least make a public show of WWX having his full trust and publicly defend him the way JYL did at the crowd hunt on phoenix mountain. With WWX's strength and the firm backing of a sect unless WWX actually started attacking other sects would have ultimately not been willing to join any attack on WWX. The whole point of the story is that WWX refuses to compromises his core morals to the detriment of himself and fights on even completely alone and because he's not gentry, and loses all gentry backing when he leaves the Jiang sect, he has the entire cultivation world essentially turn on him because he's a disrespectful of his 'betters' upstart with power more than anything else. JC's character is like his sword name and title. He's not evil, but he's given into his vices as parts of his character. The biggest ones being his pride as gentry of a great sect and his temper. His affection for WWX is twisted by a sense of possessive entitlement. Which is why even after the core reveal and everything else the point he complains about is that WWX broke his promise of serving him at his side when he left the sect to protect outsiders. JC didn't even feel pity for toddler A-Yuan, just wanted WWX to through the whole lot of them back into the Jin's labor camp and for WWX to come home to the Jiang.
I have a character who is going to have to choose whether he helps his brothers kill a bunch of heroes, or if he faces off against them to give the group he's kind of friends with a chance to escape. This song fits the general vibes, especially when he decides that facing off against them would be a win-win. Either he's defeated (his brothers have always been physically more powerful) and the good group escapes, or he's killed and he gets to see his mother again (who was killed by his brothers). He's had enough of being an agreeable doll threatened by physical harm, he's decided where he stands, uncaring if he gets redemption or not.
IM CRYING IN MY MATH CLASS HOW FUCKING DARE YOU (Oh my god this is so good. I was holding out until the very end, but then the cut to black and just seeing LWJ slowly crying, sitting on his own with his bandaged wounds-that got me man)
Ik He Was A Total Ass To Xiao But Like- He Actually Cared And held His Affection For Him, He Just Didn't know how to show it. Also tbh If Song lan hadn't tried to find Xiao, Xue Yang could have turned over a new leaf..
FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS HOLY THIS ONE HURT, THE SONG IS SO APPROPRIATE FOR WWX AND UGH THE VERY END JUS WAS SO POWERFUL AND IT CLIPPING TO LWJ CRYING JUST OMGGGGGG
LOVE THIS, can't believe i found it so late, but this really puts it into perspective --- oh how we were foreshadowed, dangled by a thread, of the twin prides of yunmeng that would never be
I know this is like super irelavent and random, but why do people ship Jiang Cheng and Lan Xichen? I've only read the novel and the manhua, am I missing something? I get Lan Xichen X Jin Guangyao, but Jiang Cheng? Tell me, what makes you all love this ship, and why does it work for you?
IMPRESIONANTE, DE LO MEJOR QUE HE VISTO EN MUCHO MUCHO TIEMPO, personalmente para mi lo que mas me duele son estos dos, lo plamaste super bien, gracias por esta preciosidad
Thank you for Some Fucking Nuance in this fandom! The relationship between Jiang Cheng and Wei Wuxian is so complicated and tragic, and I think you captured it beautifully. Jiang Cheng loves his brother. They have very different moral compasses (Jiang Cheng prioritises the people close to him, willing to let other people suffer if it means what little is left of his family is safe, which makes a lot of sense when you consider he watched most of his family slaughtered), while Wei Wuxian cares about people in the more universal, traditionally heroic sense of the word. He can’t abandon a group of innocents to be hurt. He won’t. Neither of them is evil, both are looking at it from different vantage points. The love is there. The love and the care are there, but they aren’t enough to change the outcome.
WHY WHENEVER YANLI APPEAR BEFORE HE DIE IS ALWAYS HEARTBREAKING???? LIKE WWX FEELS HE BETTER OF FOLLOW YANLI RATHER THAN LIVE WHICH MEAN HE GLADLY DIE??????
I know there's a ton of comments and this hasn't been made recently but you made it so well and I wanted to say watching it now, it is so amazing! I wish I could say more but words are failing me for how well this tells a story and your style of drawing captures emotion. I love it so much.
It's sad that all Xue Yang needed a little kindness in his life to be a better person. When he found someone who was nice to him, it took him a little while but then he calmed way the hell down and settled happily into a simple, domestic life. If Song Lan hadn't come back, Xue Yang probably would have stayed living his peaceful life with Xiao Xingchen permanently. He was like an animal that had been injured by people and was lashing out in pain and fear until he found someone who was good to him. Unfortunately Song Lan was a threat to him and so he snapped back into his old habits and ruined it for himself.
This is definitely one of the best animations I've EVER watched and what's more impressive is that you only took less than half a minute to make me cry 😭😭😭
They're brothers, your honor. They always loved each other, they were always family. But sometimes, sometimes your paths diverge. Anyway sometimes I think about Jiang Cheng and how he must have thought his prodigy brother abandoned the light and his family for like, hubris or something, not knowing *why* he did it. Your heart can be broken by family, too.
