So I wasn't sure whether to upload this video to youtube or not but yeah! I decided to cause why not. I apologize for how cheesy this entire video is but I hope you enjoy it nonetheless!!
I think...whether you like this ship or not it's undeniable that they spent 3 whole years together and I don't believe that its all just hatred and spite. Its something very bittersweet
(PS. spent roughly 4 days on it hence the....quality...ahh It'll take some time to make another polished animatic)

The Yi City Arc has definitely been one of my favorite side stories ever. The relationship between all of them was doomed to end in tragedy, and with this animation, you expressed amazingly well the bittersweet truth we get to know as viewers/readers before the characters actually realize. I completely fell in love your animations, keep up ✨

Me sobbing about this arc: OH WOW NEW CRYING CONTENT!!! Again, your art, the editing, the timing....Every second is lovely and makes this bittersweetness more heartbreaking. there was something about 0:20, and how XY's face lingered on a sneer before his fist (without the pinky!) loosened, yet he still only reached out with his other hand. Xiao Xichen's poses from 0:28 to 0:45 were very clear, the fluidity of the poses really elevated him "pulling" XY into the next scene. Montage-esque scenes are some of my favorites, and the pictures drawn were very sweet. Thank you again for this fun piece!

I just love their relationship. Romanticly speaking or not. I wish I would have gotten more of them in the novel, I really liked reading it. This just made my day and year, thank u. Now I just have to watch it about 1000000 times :D

I...don’t really like Xue Yang. He’s petty, he murdered an entire clan for one man’s (albeit horrible and cruel) wrong-doing, and he only felt remorse when Xiao Xingchen died. He didn’t even give a crap about the guy’s friend, Song Lan. He’d be a horrible partner and is not a good person. I wasn’t expecting anything coming into this animatic, but SOMEHOW, you got me to feel things. You’re so good at what you do, and maybe it was the music, or the adorable flower, or just how nice the art is, but I feel genuinely sad about what could’ve (logically probably not) been. I don’t like or feel sympathetic for Xue Yang or anything, but I do wish things had turned out differently.

You can definitely have ur own opinion but from my point of view, Xue Yang deserves at least a bit better. All his life, since he was a child, he never felt love, never got care, never saw kindness. Everyone only knows that he killed the Chang clan because Chang Cian didn't gave him candy or broke his finger. But there is much more to the past story. Chang Cian had asked the little boy Xue Yang to deliver a letter to someone for him in exchange of candies. The recipient of the letter was very angry from the letter(content was unknown) and had got Xue Yang beaten up. Not only did he never recieved the candies but Chang Cian broke his finger. It is still not fair for Xue Yang to kill the entire clan, but it was all he knew. He only knew violence and killing. In the yi city arc, Xiao xingchen was the first person to ever care for him. Xue Yang fell love with Xiao xingchen and wanted to be with him, the way he told "please don't abandon me" to xingchen. Yes, I absolutely agree he shouldn't have used Xingchen to kill innocent people. But if Xiao xingchen hets him to, Xue Yang can also change. As for Song Lan, when he came to yi city, Xue Yang was somewhat afraid that he will take away xingchen from him. So he killed Song Lan. Even Xue Yang is a human, and even he deserves some happiness in his life. In MDZS, no villain is completely a villain, they have a past which makes them like that. Each person is a hero in their story and a villain in someone else's story.

@@myeonstr this is so true. I love mdzs so much because almost every character has grey morality and isn’t completely “good” or “bad (except for Yanli she’s an angel). Everyone is so complex and interesting an it feels like they all have their own stories to explore; you could probably make dozens of spin-off stories about so many characters. I didn’t consider it before but yeah, I suppose violence, manipulation and cruelty was all Xue Yang had ever known. He didn’t understand how to do anything but that and perhaps that was why he seemed to only show some form of emotion towards Xingchen. Brb, gotta go cry my eyes out again.

These two are one of my favorite side pairings. Their relationship was doomed from the start and built on a lie. The truth was also a painful mess. But in their life they were able to be happy. Xue Yang really did grow to care for Xiao XingChen. And I'd like to think that in another life they might be able to to find some happiness together.

Okay,I love hurting myself huh. Yi City arc is my favorite and it always makes me cry seeing these two cause no matter what their story will always end up in tragedy and that just breaks my heart. If only they had met earlier,or maybe if Song Lan hadn't come,maybe Xue Yang might've learned to love. But even that proves little possibility as he'd made Xiaoxingchen kill people.

Mdzs is A chinese anime . The full name is Mo dao zu shi. There's also a novel which is named [ Grandmaster of demonic cultivation ] . It's great , it wouldn't hurt to give it a try. This animatic included two characters from " Yi city arc " . I won't spoil farther but I recommend you give it a try. It's like a roller coaster of emotions .

I know I shouldn't feel anything good about him but I absolutely loved his character even if he was bad I just wanted to cry knowing if only someone actually loved him and didn't just abuse him he might have had a better outcome and maybe they could have had a better life together PS I'm just now finishing this arc for the first time and it has been my favorite so far and it has made me cry one to many times 😫😫😥😢😭

Wow I had to leave a comment, so I’ve been avoiding the untamed because it broke my heart so much but I think being cautious/avoiding, would give me a worse finishing impression of it. Xue Yang is an interesting characther, i like him because he is disgusting and horrid person. He could've had a good life with Xiao and the girl if he only decided to put his pride and accept his wrong doings as well. That petty bastard enojyed playing part of the family with Xiao and the girl, that he most likely actually wanted it to last but his own fucked up way of life caught up to him and what happened then?, he does the only thing which he is capable of communicating and that is through violence. Because of utter disgusts, Xiao kills himself and xue kills the girl and then he only starts to reget his actions that he held a rotten candy which Xiao gave him.

It's from Mo dao zu shi (The Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation) it has a novel, a drama live action call "The Untamed", an audio drama, a manhua, and a Donghua. The characters in the animatic were Xiao Xingchen (the blindfolded guy) and Xue Yang (the other guy)

Oof!! This hit me like a bus. I was not expecting that song. And my goodness, the whole animatic is incredible. The Yi City arc always manages to make me cry. They’re all doomed from the start. Xue Yang’s obsession with bringing XXC back, arguing that he just wants to have him as a fierce corpse, which can easily be interpreted as him being in denial about having other kind of feelings towards the Daozhang… it’s all too much for my poor heart.

The only time I cried was when Xue Yang died- it just felt so emotional i refused to watch the episode again after one time- he was fr holding the candy in his hand and that really broke me I know xue yang was toxic but he had a traumatic childhood, same goes for wwx and meng yao. WWx moreover was just hated by the community and pressured (he had his sister & his family to care for him), but meng yao and xue yang never really had someone "there" for them. It's sad and I wished things could've turned out differently for the both of them.

I keep thinking, if only Song Lan didn't show up when he did. Maybe... Just maybe their story could have been different. Ik what XY made XXC do without him knowing was unforgivable and wrong. But, you could notice him changing the longer he was with XXC. And the regret and pain he felt after losing him. Idk. If only they had a bit more time, we could of had a happier ending for all 4 of them...

It's sad that all Xue Yang needed a little kindness in his life to be a better person. When he found someone who was nice to him, it took him a little while but then he calmed way the hell down and settled happily into a simple, domestic life. If Song Lan hadn't come back, Xue Yang probably would have stayed living his peaceful life with Xiao Xingchen permanently. He was like an animal that had been injured by people and was lashing out in pain and fear until he found someone who was good to him. Unfortunately Song Lan was a threat to him and so he snapped back into his old habits and ruined it for himself.

Not something I ship, but I like this. The facial expressions, and flow of the story and movements are cool. On top of that the song fits really nicely. A lot of it is relatively happy, but the {A C Ab/G#, A C A Ab} pattern in the background at the beginning and end gives the song an overall unsettled feeling, hinting at the underside of all this
