I help older guitar students learn faster & have more fun by...
Playing. Real. Music.
How?
We run an online guitar school called Tony's Acoustic Challenge. Every week we study a familiar song through an exciting daily guitar challenge that takes around ten minutes.
The end result is that you learn guitar while playing music you love.
With over 35,000 students and a 4.9 star rating from 2000+ reviews, you owe it to yourself to see what the buzz is all about!
Just starting the video, and hoping you will include a discussion of Bob Brozman and hopefully clips of him, because he is so advanced that nobody can touch him, and he dedicated his entire career to the National Steel resonator instruments. Anyone who doesn't know him needs to go and watch as many of the videos of him playing as you have time for. The only problem is he will spoil you for everyone else.
Thank you for displaying such class. Yes. Play an instrument. Sing. Dance. It’s the universal language. For all of time. That was an inspiring tribute to Jeff. And to everyone. Thank you
Is a "daily driver" as affected by environmental changes if you are tuning it everyday; alleviating big string-tension changes? I live in a pretty mild climate, and play my acoustic every day. I have a case, but only use it for transportation. I don't really ever store the guitar.
Would REALLY like to see this compared with the Nineteen by Atkin in the same exact specs.... The nineteen might be my dream guitar from what I have seen about it..........
This is a terrific presentation. Of course the Inflation “Reduction” Act caused all of the prices to go up, but there are used resonators available within the range of those in this video. If not already referenced, someone could expand on the string selection best for resonator guitars. Thanks!!
i play a höfner jumbo, probably from around 200t, made in china, very decent solid spruce top, laminate maple back and sides, grover tuners, undersaddle piezo with eq preamp, the sound is very decent and the playability is fantastic. it’s just huge. if it was a smaller body with close to the same sound, i would play it at all my gigs. but my main live guitar is a gs mini, so this thing just feels gigantic to handle. but after a short while i get used to it again and it just plays like a 6 string with extremely low action. light srings, tuned to d standard like all my guitars and it’s so easy to play. if you have some space around you. i even play a lot of fingerstyle on that because it just works. ❤
My favorite cover has to be Jason and the Scorchers performing Absolutely sweet Marie. Great song. Also, the Bob Dylan 30th anniversary concert has many great performances from an all star cast of musicians.
Been watching your videos for years now, enjoy them very much. I have a rounded out collection of 1 dreadnought ( yamaha fgx-04 ltd), 1 grand auditorium ( taylor 414ce-r ), 1 concert size ( yamaha ac1m ), and 1 concert 12 string ( breedlove pursuit exotic myrtlewood ). The fgx -04 ltd I installed a bone nut and saddle and got a professional set up and it has become one of the best sounding guitars I ever played. 20 years old and it never sounded better!
Tony , 5 Best Taylor’s Being a recent subscriber, I realize this episode is two years old, but I just watched it. I did not expect you to mention my Taylor guitar. But surprisingly You Did ! “Honorable mention“ LKSM12. Mine is an early 1991 model, I was able to capture it on a eBay auction in 1997 from a former Taylor factory tech who acquired it from Taylor. It was being used as a demo at the SD plant a one of a kind prototype. It’s built with stereo pick up, mic and a transducer also came with a pre amp and blender. Plus, Not Taylor but German made Schaller machine heads. It roars like no other 12 string on the planet. It came with Leo’s spec heavy gauge strings tuned down. It was not easy for me to play. In Time I had to change strings. I decided to go down to a medium gauge(instead of heavy) Earthwood Bronze and turned it up to Standard. For me it was easier to play and still sounded good. Like your opinion on that I’ve also more recently switched to light nano web elixir. The seller told me the this guitar was modeled after another guitar that Kottke like the sound of an Olsen jumbo 12 string( at the time I never heard of ) Not the Bozo what many people think. Story goes Leo wanted a solid Gig guitar to tour with that sound but not a $15,000 to take on tour. Taylor built the LKSM 12 & later the 6 structurally “similar” to the Olsen to hold the 12 heavy gage strings.
Back in the early 70's Robert Crumb released an album of 8x10 prints of Bloos Heroes considerably larger than trading card or CDV size. I imagine the complere set is hard to find now so this bookbis your best bet!
Id love if someone could do a tutorial that doesnt rely on me already knowing how to do one but wrong, where do i put my finger, how do i squeeze it, what part of my finger shoule touch each string You know results you expect from "step by step bar chord instructions"
