This might change in the future, but right now, this channel is all about the works of Nifflas. It has playthroughs of many games he made or at least had some sort of involvement with.

And I do a lot of playthroughs of Knytt Stories levels. I specialize in 100% playthroughs of big levels where such playthroughs are challenging to complete.

Feel free to reach out if you have any suggestions for future videos, though keep in mind that when it comes to Knytt Stories, I tend to prefer exploration over challenge-centric levels.

I'm almost sure that this is not a rev (revisited) of the last version of the level, but it doesn't change the fact that there will be minimal changes. This was one of the first levels ever made for KS, and I'm proud that it pointed a lot of the directions that the authors started using. Thanks for playing!

It's what I got from the level archive. If there's a more recent version, it's not on there. I hope my criticism doesn't come off as too harsh. I understand that as your first level and one of the first ever made, this level was bound to have obvious flaws. I think I can understand why it ended up like this. It just doesn't change that I was mostly frustrated by it. I played it because I assumed it'd be relevant for Frozen Mountain 2, but the connection turned out to be rather limited.

Thanks so much for the playtrough, glad you enjoyed the passage in the end. Truth is, this level is prone to a lot of problems due to its size and the many updates (both on the level itself and KS+ side). It's a fact that the level has been evolving for about 11 years and that's been a while... I hope to come across some more of my levels on your channel. thanks a lot.

Thanks for commenting. I did some basic research on the rest of your lineup, but I'm not sure it'd appeal to me. There are a bunch of abandoned levels in there, which aren't really my thing. And plenty of challenges in this level weren't to my liking. I'm very selective when it comes to Knytt Stories, and like I said in the description, this level has both some of my favorite and least favorite aspects of Knytt Stories level design. So I'm not too optimistic I'd enjoy the rest of your levels more (except of course for Gaia, which I indeed liked). I was planning to check out the last version of this level that you'd made for KS Ex to see how it used that mod's features (which is available on the level archive with the version name EX5b). But that version is broken. It lacks the code to actually trigger the ball transformations when they're supposed to happen.

Thanks for playing! I had forgotten everything about this level so it was cool to be able to see it again :) I remember as the game was released, Nifflas offered up the game for free if one was willing to make at least one level for it. As a broke student at the time I jumped on this offer. But designing good puzzles was something I'd never done. I gave it a go here, but I fundamentally misunderstood what makes puzzles good. I tried to apply what I had learned in other genres to make the challenges beatable, but challenging. The problem is that for a puzzle, the challenge isn't supposed to be execution, but rather the "figuring out" part. I released it still to fulfill my part, but I wasn't happy with the level. I remember when it was released this level was well liked, which I think was actually a bad thing as the follow up would likely have had similar issues. Though I have some memory that I focused more on the platforming elements in that one, so it might have been more enjoyable. I personally think that others may have had the same problems as me in going from designing platformers to designing puzzles, the excitement of seeing new levels quickly died out and people stopped making levels at all. I still wanted to finish what I had started, but only because I had put a lot of time in it already. I wonder what would have happened to this game if it was released in a community of players who had experience designing puzzles. For sure the levels would have been better, it might have even taken off a bit. /Bulbapuck

Thanks for the reply. I was thinking about letting you know about your level's recovery, but then forgot again. Good to see you found this anyway. I really should be sharing Jdl's ZIP file soon. And yeah, I don't really blame you for the level's quality. I'd argue that FiNCK is very different from most of Nifflas' lineup (except Uurnog) in that it doesn't have particularly good platforming mechanics and also isn't really meant to convey much of an atmosphere, but is instead centered around puzzles. As long as those are clever and don't demand too much skill, the game can be quite fun. But accomplishing that is challenging. Even the main level has some parts that kind of annoyed me. I agree that a different kind of community might have had a better chance of producing good levels, since the process of designing a good FiNCK level demands completely different skills than designing a good KS level.

Glad to hear it. First time I've ever been praised for doing no-commentary videos in particular. I get that there are plenty of benefits to having commentary, but I don't use my voice online for a variety of reasons. And I feel that no-commentary videos are a better fit for things such as preserving the original experience.

Well, yeah. I knew that was gonna happen. I stumbled upon this part while using the editor to search for potential voidscreens. I mainly recorded these bonus videos to point them out to Shreeps. And he indeed fixed all of them before the level's release.

I don't know. Couldn't find it or the other song that only plays in Part 2 anywhere. Since the composer also made a KS level himself, I assume he composed these two tracks specifically for this level.

Huh, really? There are some other times where I may have been a bit harsh, but I really don't see how this particular description comes off as rude. All I really said is that it's a fine example of what a standard KS level should be like, but for that same reason, it's not a very unique level anymore nowadays. If anything, my opinion on it is mildly positive.

When you talk about randomized enemy attacks and about how certain Knytt stories levels are really tough it reminds me of "The world is changing" by Toenail. He/She has made a knytt stories level with interesting concepts and multiple endings but the levels by themselves were so hard to clear without cheats at some points. I hope if possible that you can cover this story at one point as well. Thank you

I might consider it. It depends on what kinds of things make it so hard. I can usually handle randomized enemies. Shreeps' levels are full of those, yet I can mostly tolerate them there. It's annoying when they kill you through no fault of your own, but at least you know you can make it if you keep trying. What drove me mad in this level was when it tasked you with making very precise moves while also throwing unpredictable enemies in your way and restricting your powerups so heavily that you barely have a chance to dodge their attacks. But I'll look into that level when I feel like it.

I legit had to use Chat GPT to solve the boiler problem with the special restriction to ensure the boiler does not explode.

Huh. That's interesting to hear. Didn't expect an AI to be capable of understanding this puzzle. But I guess that's one way to handle it. I had to map out every possibility, as I explained in the next part. I'm not sure anyone actually managed to solve this puzzle through some sort of logic like DrKorbin must have intended.

In that case, I believe you need to go to that place a second time. IIRC, Mi won't react to that location at all if you go there first, since she has no reason to assume somebody would be there.

I think this game/level/whatever is incredibly beautiful. A pain to play but everything else just captivates me. Idk if you've played my level Iasthai, but I made it as a sequel to Knytt Nano, and then threw in a bunch of personal details about my life because that's just what I do

There were plans for paid DLC, but that never went anywhere, sadly. The free Origins Story DLC was apparently meant to build up to it.

@@kilicool64 I'm glad I picked up the tiny DLC at last but nothing further was so dissapointing I'd sh!t my pants to sometime get a physical release kinda Collector's Edition for Wii U by any authorized distribution company as they did with Axiom Verge 🫨

Does Nintendo even still allow Wii U games to get physical copies? With the console being as dead as it is, I rather doubt that. Also worth noting that according to a former employee, NapNok Games went to hell after this game's release. They drastically expanded and formed new studios, but lost their entire original studio in Copenhagen due to abusing their employees.

@@kilicool64 I don't think they allow it I purchased as much good and interesting games from the Wii U Shop as possible this year I might find a practical way to put each game onto a CD allowing them to play off disc however possible I stored them on a harddrive/usb drive but its limited functionally to one specific console It's really a shame they didn't release a physical copy of Affordable Space Adventure It's brilliant usable with Wii U Pad, deserved a lot more Sad story with Napok Games though

Oh, I was just planning to lower the game's overall volume for future parts. I suppose lowering the volume of the tracks themselves is also an option, though I could do that myself. I have experience using Audacity.

i 100%ed the game multiple times, but i never knew about the black hole and would have never thought about finding it myself. i love Nifflas for putting so many random easter eggs in his games!
