In this playthrough, I get both powerups. I could've gotten the no coin endings in my first playthrough as well, but I wanted to see if having both powerups opens up anything new. It does indeed. I found an amusing little secret. And managed to go above it, which the level apparently wasn't designed for. I tried two more jumps at the water after that without success. I don't think the first one is possible, but the second one might just barely be.
