Welcome to The Outsider channel! Wilderness living is what I'm all about: log cabins, wild food foraging, tractor logging, portable sawmill, survival shelters, etc. I post videos every other week, so stay tuned!
Good job on the mold. I’m a retired building contractor. I worked on fire, smoke, water damage Early in my career and I learned chlorine is a miracle chemical. lol I’ve also used straight chlorine mixed with soap and water. You can use it on rock, brick, block, wood, vinyl and the list goes on. Anywhere there is mold chlorine will take care of it. I subcontracted putting together log cabin kits for about 7 years and got tired of traveling. My wife and I are buying a 200 acre property and building our dream cabin. To make a short story long we have both been fighting cancer and couldn’t work so we almost lost what little we had. True Story about having faith in God: I know everybody thinks the rich uncle dying and leaving a fortune is a cliche but it happened to my wife and I. Uncle Rodger was poor all his life. Years ago he filed a lawsuit and we all forgot about it. He passed on last year and we are taking care of his daughter who is blind and had numerous brain surgeries. Just a month ago the lawsuit settled and in the settlement years ago he gave us half and put my wife as executor. It’s a LARGE number. Keep working for your dreams friend and happy vibes your way.
The nice thing about milling your own lumber you can get true dimentional lumber. Actually 2"x6" . Looking sweet . I've always wanted to build a door similar to yours . Im not dead yet , it could happen. Im 53
I’m finally going to chink my cabin today I’ve been putting it off out of nervousness because I don’t want to mess up, this video is tremendously helpful I just downloaded it so I can watch again later. Thanks
I very much enjoy the pollen spikes boiled and dipped in melted butter. Tastes like corn. The inner leaves when pulled out of the young plants taste exactly like cucumbers. I am eating the pollen spikes now.😋
I really enjoy watching your videos. I like the nature shots you included as well. I can't help wonder if you got a Masters degree in Applied Arts at some university. It shows up when you place things on a shelf or design furniture for the cabin. you have a trained eye for balancing the design elements.
So sorry for your loss again, l know this an old video but very touching...l too experienced 3 pregnancy like this, l lost 2 of my boys but was blessed with the third one...l know what your Mother had to endure cause l too had to endure the some dangerous pregnancy but l survived to hold in my arms (who today is 59 yrs old) my only surviving son, many months of confinements❤❤❤
I am under the impression that one can remove just a branch from a tree to get the inner bark from there instead of potentially harming the tree. If I have a tree that needs pruning, I might as well eat what I can. On that same note, I hear it is healthier to cut twigs off & from there hang a bag to collect sap, rather than bore a hole into the trunk.
I would not suggest olive oil for grape leaf chips, maybe super light olive oil that is designed to take some heat, but usually olive oil is for very low temps, very short times on heat, or eating raw. It also tends to have a strong flavour.
I would put a narrow set of stairs on each end of porch, than,a nice wide set of steps in the middle of the front tapering out. For railing I'd use the same railing concept that you used for your loft... Thanks so much for this channel... I just lost my brother in law tragically and unexpected a couple months ago. Watching you forge on after the loss of your precious dad, has helped with dealing with his loss. I don't know how people cope with tragedy without the help of the Lord....
My god, these old laptops are so effing slow. How did we deal with these wait times back in the days? I'm trying to get rid of my 15 year old Toshiba laptop and it takes ages to load
A Murphy bed, tool 🧰 kitchen with toolbox 🧰 electric, portable diesel heater. Water in filing cabinet. Separate for batteries. Rolling cabinets allow for easy movement. 8-inch drop folding shower. Drawbridge lift for the bike. Humidifier water recovery for portable. Medical cabinets are great. Micro wind generators can reduce recharge times.
You're trying hard for that Bass Pro sponsorship huh? 😀 So, this made me remember that you can't get to your frost line so now I'm not understanding your gray water plan to send water down that far.
I love the idea that your dad is ck'n up on you. 🐺 "Coywolf" These are a real hybrids in nature. I have a Docu DVD on them, they've evolved! First found in east Canada, but by now have migrated W, and many down into the northern US states. We see them in my neighborhood of Ptld, Oregon, like 3-4am. Their skeletons were found and examined. They have DNA facts to prove this. Plus the size IS between that of a Wolf and Coyote. They run away from people - refuse to be drawn in or become domesticated. They learn humans' habits - come & go in towns. I doubt you need to worry, but I'm not sure a small dog would be safe against them. Just say... "Hi dad, what do you think?" 💫
