Follow me as I learn the game of poker. You may know me from my craps channel, Color Up! I love dice, but ultimately it is a negative EV game, meaning over time you cannot beat the game. Can I become a "poker pro?" That's a tall order but I'm going to have a lot of fun trying to improve my poker game as I spend more time in the casino. Will I end up taking any poker winnings and head straight to the dice table. Watch and find out!
This is an outstanding video on casino poker table "etiquette." To a beginner, looking at the sea of poker tables and not knowing what to do can be very intimidating. Plus, you never want to look like a beginner at a poker table. :)
10% max rake up to $40?!?! Thats crazy for an actual casino! Least in northeast usa, rake is capped at $10 or less in every casino ive been in in the northeast. Promo drop additional $1-$2. I would never play a game with that high a rake.
I think you could 4bet fold JJs. However, that call means you really likely don't have KK, QQ, AK which makes your 4 bet more vulnerable Also, when 100BB or shorter, you really want to aggressively try to get all the money in preflop with AK and get fold equity or light calls. I like to trap with AA and AQ sometimes
Bummer you decided to not continue this vlog. The regs at GSR are for the most part super friendly and play straight forward. Had a pretty good run there last month and enjoyed the room and staff.
Man you were getting blessed with beautiful hands back to back. Awesome bro and very well played with what you had. this definitely my boosts confidence I only play online I’m not very social but this is awesome 💯
Depends on the tournament. Different rooms will pay out differently. Some pay 1 in 6 places, some pay 1 in 10. Others may have some other structure, but it's all clearly laid out before the tournament starts, usually as a percentage of the total pool. If 60 people enter a 1 in 6, then 10 people will win at least their entry fee back. If 60 people enter a 1 in 10, then only 6 people cash. They'll announce the actual prize amounts after registration closes. Some tournaments are Satellite tournaments into bigger games. Say your place has a 1000 entry fee tournament every Saturday. Leading up to that tournament, they may offer 100 satellites. If 10 people enter a satellite, then the winner gets a seat in the 1000 game. If 20 enter, the top 2 get seats. If there's an odd number, they'll usually make a cash payout to the last non-winner, because it's not enough to buy a seat in the bigger game.
I believe you're videos are an inspiration for thousands of beginners, please continue your Good Deed, your video gave me the courage to go to a casino and try 1/2 NLH $40 buy in, i am 60, never played poker in my life, just watched on RU-vid for 15 years ,I was intimidated by the challenging game, I had a great learning experience at the Gardens Casino CA poker table last weekend. It was not about winning or losing, enjoying my time. It takes practice, practice, and more real live cash games practice to improve poker skills. I hope you continue your quest, never give up. Richard
Jeremy, I have so enjoyed following your journey and watching all of your VLOGs, both the poker and the craps videos. When I got to the end (the update video above) I was quite sad, to be honest, because your journey inspired me to try the game of poker as well. While I completely understand your reasoning for the hiatus - the away from the tables studying is so massively important, as I am finding out myself - I did find myself eagerly anticipating your next vlog and your next vlog and comparing your thoughts and experiences to my own. So, I do wish that you would pick it back up and continue to vlog, even if you feel you are only progressing a little bit each time, because it helps people like me feel like we have a partner going through this with us. Your content is fantastic, and having watched many of the other poker vloggers out there, they show "interesting" (usually only winning hands) and walk through their thought process for each hand, but do so pretty fast and it's difficult at times to keep up. But being a beginner myself, I could really identify with your nerves the first few times playing, the thought process, etc.
Thank you so much guys for this much needed video I get overwhelmed when I go to a poker room at a casino for the first time now after watching this I will be better prepared and less nervous hats off to you guys👍🏿
@@asastevens4694 I assume for new players they'd let me know, right? It might take a few hands. The sad thing is I'm really, really good at Hold'em, but having played with friends we never used blinds, just ante, and online it's automatic.
6:20 your opponent had a combo draw. Open ended straight draw + flush draw with 1 over card. Very strong hand. 18 outs (15 outs against your TT) so he was actually a favorite to win the hand by the river at about 60% against you.
1:40 J5o out of position against 3 players is trouble. That hand is instant fold. You will only get action from better hands like J6+ and the dummy who can't fold TT or the dude who hits a full house on the flop. You may get a street of value from AK but the action pre caps your opponents range to mediocre holdings and medium and low value pairs like 22 - JJ. Also when you overbet the pot you run all the regs out.
3:21 must of had Q6s (1 combo) flopped 2 pair, 77 (6 combos) flopped middle pair that peeled a turn and hit a gutshot straight draw, 88 (6 combos) flopped middle pair that peeled a turn and hit a gutshot straight draw , 67s (3 combos) flopped middle pair that peeled a turn and hit a gutshot straight draw, or 56s (3 combos) flopped middle pair that peeled a turn and hit a gutshot straight draw
Cool video man! You should watch the Blackrain79 course so you can improve. You scared everyone off the pot on the AKo on the flop and over played your JJ pre. K5o is too weak to play, and you could of took down the pot with AQo wirh a standard c-bet. You want to coming into the pot with a raise high enough that you only get one caller. Play tighter from Early positions, and don't go after every draw. If you raise to lets say $8 and c-bet the flop 1/2 pot and get a fold you got $10.5 vs one opponent vs limping in and getting 4 callers and c-betting as now there's way higher risk to you that you're not gonna win the hand and they'll catch something crazy like a 72o 2 pair and beat your hand as strong as AA. Good luck!!
THIS is the video I’ve been looking for! You explained everything perfectly to make me feel comfortable sitting at a Vegas table. Been going for 4 years now and was always too nervous. Thank you so much. 36 days till I play for the first time in Vegas!!!
