Great comedy writer but as a standup, CK was a late bloomer. This isn't as tedious as Eddie Brill's phonebook routine, but it's up there. It's a shaggy dog tale short of punchlines. In their place he has slurs, bald-faced lies, bad suppositions, and bland observations delivered with avuncular insistence. You can almost feel the finger lodged in your ribs. "Laugh at Uncle Szekely's jokes kids or we're not stopping at the Friendly's."
He also did the Pete Holmes "Tan Car" bit and the Doug Stanhope "kids are boring now" bit in his unreleased leaked special. But Bill Burr stole his aboriton Joke. Matt Mucusker did at least 3 louic bits in his new special (off the top I can think of the handjob bit). It happens I reckon idk More examples: Brian Regan Moon bit and Seinfeld. Brian Regan did the Bill Engval male friends not telling them anything bit.
I used to skate a parking garage in my town all the time and visited it a few years later driving through at like 12am and was going to skate for a few mins like old time but a cop was in there standing by himself like a weirdo and I kinda hassled him the way the cops used to me when I was down there. I was never a fan of the stand up bits because of how forced they feel but Louis does it so naturally he is perfectly suited to being a character in this universe.
