Magical! And really great camera work...framing, composition, editing..and music!...a pleasure to experience this gorgeous place this way. En daai Steaks!!!!
Climate changes often over long periods of time but mostly likely there has been quite a bit of change relatively recently as massive herds of hundreds of thousands grazing animals were reported in the hinterland. That amout of biomass being put into the soil would have created great conditions for plants to grow, plants change the local weather believe it or not so you can see how SA was much less barren before as it is now
Have camped in the Tankwa several years ago. Agree about the desolate beauty. Have also camped in central and west Australia, which exceeds Tankwa in its remote vastness and beauty by a factor of about a million!
Thanx for the comment. You 100% good to go with the RTT on any stand. Only thing, is the stands close to the water doesn’t have that much shade. I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the camp and ablutions… and it’s less than 200km’s from Cape Town.
Hi Deon. I think we paid R150 per person per night to camp and they also charge a conservation fee of a[proximately R250 (one off). Big game is scares but birds are abundant, with smaller animals. You can check out their options for night safaris. Hope it helps
I camped there for a week, not a soul to be seen, i was the firdt soutie to snorkel for an hour in my underpants, hyperthermia set in therafter...too 2 hrs and 6 double captains to come right...no crayfish😂😂😂
Definitely worth the trip. We’ve been there quite a few times. Don’t for check out Cederberg wines while you’re there. Some of the best wine in the region
I want to go again, early next year ! Last time they had a Riel dancing troupe at the poolside .... such a beautiful place ! Most rock art ever in one location, then the stars at night !
Wonderful to see. Please do yourself a favour and check out Matjeskloof 4x4 Adventure Farm in the Calvinia/Sutherland district. Opposite of flat, but absolutely awesome. You will not be sorry.
Many people find paradise in Overseas places, to me ,where you are, that's my paradise...sitting on a koppie overlooking the (Tankwa) Karoo landscape...
Hey Nico, This is really beautiful. Great photography. May I ask what camp site this was called? And how safe is it to camp on the beach? I’m desperate to do it, but always hear horror stories. I was at Palmiet at couple weeks ago and some was caught breaking into tents at night…
Hi. We are a group of small stock farmers from Botswana we want to visit the Karoo on benchmarking trip . Can you please assist on which farms we can visit , accommodation and meals
The videos I post are places that I have personally camped at. I can unfortunately not comment on the accommodation and other services available. I would suggest contacting the Tankwa Karoo Tourism group for more help. Sorry I can’t be of more help
