As a parent, you did an amazing job with this video. Very informative! Can you let me know if you're still checking these comments before I post some questions? Again, great job!
Watching this now over two years later. I got waitlisted for many months before being accepted in mid June, so it was a bit turbulent at first, but I was able to enroll in some summer courses and will be starting the fall quarter in just under two weeks. Fortunately, I’ve lived in a forest near Santa Cruz for most of my life, so I guess living on campus won’t be so much as it is for other students. But anyways, I’m excited to begin. Thanks for the advice.
@@Eevee_TV ahh me too! did they send u your cruz Id? they just sent me a student ID number so was just wondering if they did the same or is it just me :') cuz im trying to log in to my portal
Hi! stubbled in watching your video- I'm a community college student thinking of going into cog sci. I'm not really that familiar with the field, however, I am curious to know what your thoughts are with the courses that you took and some viable paths to think about after college! I'm thinking of going to UCSC too- let me know your thoughts :)
So I'm thinking of transferring to UCSC for Electrical Engineering (I'm probably gonna get a minor in comp sci since I took the comp sci classes in community college) What's it like for sTEm students there? edit: I'm asking because I saw your minor was in comp sci
I just got accepted! I am super excited. I got the Business Management Economics major’ ! If anyone knows more about this major please let me know!!! This video was super helpful to me and I am glad I could see your point of view as a UCSC student.
My dream school was UCSD but I got rejected, I was so surprised that I got into UCSC but a lot of people at my hs currently make me feel a little bad for not getting into more high ranking schools so I’ve just been feel really conflicted lately :(
First of all, congrats on UCSC! I’m sorry about the current predicament that you’re having. Honestly, getting into a UC in general is an immense achievement, “high ranking” or not. Sure, a lot of people push on about these ranks, but that’s only their agenda. I’ve also been rejected at UCSD but accepted to UCSC. Of course, my peers have added some pressure onto getting into “better” colleges. It has made me feel bad about myself, and it still sometimes affects me. However, think about it this way: You’ve made it. Just know that you don’t need to live up to the expectations of other people. Their opinions shouldn’t determine the enjoyment of your own successes. Even though these intrusive thoughts may lurk behind your mind, acknowledge that you should be proud of making it this far :D
the professor who was teaching it at the time had a pretty rigorous curriculum that none of us were prepared for bc the class before was extremely introductory (they didn't bridge the 2 classes together well) but i wouldn't worry about this bc that class has since been discontinued! i would just be sure to focus on learning strong fundamentals in your introductory coding classes!
Graduating from undergrad fast makes sense financially. I did the same because I was taking all the AP tests I can fit in. But finding a job in a short period can be hard. In that case, taking advantage of the Master's transfer program (if offered in the school) + tuition waiver helps...
Your nightmare will start on your second year when there is no housing on campus. A lot of students are now homeless. Be aware, do your research before applying here. Rents in Santa Cruz are going for over 3,000 for one bedroom apartment.
hi simran! i was wondering if you would say a psych degree of cog. sci degree is better suited for ux design? the understanding I've gotten are both are good, but I was wondering what your personal input is? thank you so much <333

I started watching your videos in my senior year of high school when I was about to start UCSC, now watching this video as a 3rd year about to graduate :) thanks for the tips, they were all very helpful!
It took 7 years for me to graduate from college (bachelor's degree). Failing certain classes no matter how hard I try and switching majors, I ultimately realized my passion <3 Congrats to you on graduating early!
its so important to remember there is no right or wrong way to do college!! everyone's journey looks different and we learn through our experiences!! i'm glad you found your passion and didn't give up thanks for watching <3
im not planning to graduate early and clicked on this video anyway for shits and giggles. finished it seriously impressed, WENT TO THE COMMENT SECTION and my jaw actually dropped. Your articulation + confidence and video quality seriously had me thinking this was a huge channel omg. keep it up
This was so helpful! I’m at ucsc rn and came in with two years of community college. I’m graduating next year at 20 and I’m TERRIFIED. Hearing your experience was great
