What size is the socket for the hub nut
@dandantherepairman
@dandantherepairman 27 дней назад
@@dieseldawg7132 Hi, thanks for watching. So on my vehicle the hex bit is 14mm to undo the centre hub bolt from the driveshaft. Another viewer disagreed as he said on his it was 17mm but I can only say on my model, it's definitely 14mm. Worth measuring first if you're not sure as I imagine VW might have used different sizes or types on different models.
@dieseldawg7132
@dieseldawg7132 27 дней назад
@@dandantherepairman thanks yea I tried the 14mm the other day n was a bit small also had the 17mm, ended up driving to the shop just to get it since I didn’t have one at home I am working on a tdi Passat 2016. I’m needing to do. A turbo replacement and of course alot of things need to come down from the bottom….
@dandantherepairman
@dandantherepairman 26 дней назад
@@dieseldawg7132 ah yes, I expect that'll be a fairly big task. Mines a 2.0 petrol so no turbo to worry about luckily. I find it's very beneficial to have a range of large hex bits, triple square bits and torx bits to work on these vdubs, you never know what surprise bolt types going to appear next lol. Good luck, hope it all goes smoothly 🤞

How did you losen the bolts mine are bit rusty and stuck
@dandantherepairman
@dandantherepairman Месяц назад
@@micmictover1420 hi, thanks for watching. So the 3 bolts that hold the downpipe to the middle pipe, I was lucky in that they undid fairly easily. I did use penetrating fluid first though to make it easier. Give them a good soak and give it time to work in, also could use some heat maybe. It's a hard to reach spot under there so if you can't loosen them, would have to figure a way to cut them off. Best of luck with it 👍. Hardest part is trying to counter hold the bolt while you're on the other side doing up the nut, I wished I'd had a second person really.

@dandantherepairman
@dandantherepairman 2 месяца назад
Hi, thanks for watching. Unfortunately I don't know what that part number was because I fixed the existing part. I would go by the model number printed on the label if it's still visible and do an internet search on it, as long as you find one compatible with that model, it'll be fine. Should be fairly available since they are very brittle and prone to breaking. I hope that helps 👍

Hi, thanks for watching and commenting. It was something I did quite a long time ago now so unfortunately I don't remember any of the sizes. I just had a piece of clear thick plastic lying around that was sturdy enough to stay flat to pull the water upwards but flexible enough to bend to let it drop back down through the water in the tank. It was the kind you usually get in garden centers for covering plants etc (which is exactly where it came from). All I did was draw around the bad one with a marker as a template and cut it out with scissors. Still working ok three years later so does do the trick. Best of luck with it and hope it goes well.

I have repaired one of these before almost the same method with success. However I would think that the electrical tape you used in the manner used will not last very long. IMO you should remove the original strip and wrap tape around both original and replacement led strip. At least I did and it still works after 2 years plus of daily use.

Hi, thanks for watching. You're right, that would definitely be a stronger repair. I would probably have used the hot glue gun if I hadn't run out of glue sticks at the time but the tape held up good overall.

@dandantherepairman 10 месяцев назад
Hi, thanks for watching. I can't say I'm 100% sure how that part actually operates. I know there's a few electronic components inside it. It might be that it becomes heated and the voltage changes are read from the cooling of that plate by the air flowing over it but I could be wrong. I'm sure someone will comment who knows for sure🤞

I had an issue on this mower today. I suspected the switch as the cutting out was becoming more frequent to the point it rarely came on. Fiddling with the cable wasn’t helping though. I had the additional problem that I could’t open the switch as they’ve changed two of the screws to what looks like a T20 but with a spike in the middle.... anyway, on further inspection I saw that the plastic lever on mine had fractured just inside the switch box. This means applying a full squeeze to the handle is widening the fracture rather than pressing the internal button. I can make the motor come on by using a screwdriver to push the lever further down on the side where I have been able to undo the screws, so I know this is the issue. I will try super glue to fix the lever; failing that I need to buy a special a screwdriver and source a new lever...
