If you cover the soaker hose with two or three inches of chips the water will evaporate more slowly. I check to see if the soil(or chips) have become drier.
Your buddy Tim makes some beautiful woodwork pieces. The dining room table and chairs are really nice and the grandfather clock in his gallery is as nice as I’ve ever seen.
Such a small amount of water comes out of a soaker hose your wasting your time doing during the day. It's evaporating as fast as it's coming out. To get it to soak down to the roots you really should let it run overnight. It's not going to use as much water as you think. With the wood chips on top you might be able to get by watering every other night
Huuuuuu i think Chickens speak Chicken lol..........................Thanks NaThAn and it is ALWAYS FUN TO WATCH YOUR VIDEOS + Your funny comments......Your friend Old F-4 II Shoe🇺🇸
Thank you, Nathan, for taking the time to film and edit your videos. A lot of extra work for you. I do enjoy them. My teacher for board and batten siding said one nail in the middle, the nails in the battens make 3 across the board at each purlin. He built houses for 50 years and never used a nail gun.
I prefer kiln dried wood for my woodturning if I'm in a rush for an order. If it's wet I need to do an initial turn leaving it thick, apply Anchor Seal, let it dry, and then do a final turn.
Dig a small hole here and there to check the soil moisture. Keep an eye on the plants. They will tell you when they are thirsty. There's really no schedule that you and set up. It's a lot like drying lumber. You need to react to changing conditions. Kerosene is way more effective at cleaning pine sap than alcohol. The residue makes for a nice lubricant too. Make sure you use some nitrile gloves with the kerosene. Why didn't you stack all three of those 3" blocks and saw your 1x3 battens three at a time?
No one can tell as water pressure and water flow determines the water to the plant. I would look at the plants and see if they got watered well. If not need more. Washing machine might make a difference. So best check in general.
On your advice I did get a tape measure holster and it is awesome. Would recommend for anyone. So much easier than trying to use the clip all the time.
Taking the time to answer those questions at the end of your video shows us what a great guy you are. As I type this I am covered in sawdust, I wish I had seen your tip on cutting a banana shaped log 2 days ago. I learn a LOT from your videos, thanks for all you do. You are a better teacher than you think you are.
Regarding wood turning blanks: Yes, we like to turn green wood, but even with Anchor Seal, minute cracks can become large cracks within a day or two; so do not send moist wood. Ideally, you cut blanks a couple of inches longer than the width, Anchor Seal at least the end grain, let air dry in a cool spot for a couple of months. Evaluate the survival rate; and trim if needed. Then, photograph, Anchor Seal the entire blank, charge double what you would have green, and finally offer to sell and mail. Best regards....
SW Kansas. Soaker hoses don't get it..even if you run them 24 hours a day. We have to use a drip system. Run it 24 hours, and rest it 24 hours. During windy days event that's not enough. 90 degree heat with no moisture in the atmosphere and 30 mph wind, will evaporate more water than a drip system can put down.
Your cat needs to see the vet. A blood panel may be needed. Your cat can live substantially longer that 10 years. an outside cat can have worm or parasites. quite common. a good vet can do wonders for your cat. do it and make everyone feel a little better. especially your wife.

the only real thing i know about watering plants in extreme heat is you want to wait about 30 mins to an hour after dark and if you water all night you want to cut it off about 2 hours before first light cause watering in the day time will cause them to burn up.
