As older rider I want to share the experience of rides and races with anyone that's interested in a more mature approach! You're never too old to ride. Drop me a line or comment if you need anything
Eugene and I both had to cut out of a ride earlier one day so we were going to ride back together, it didn't take long to realize I wasn't going to be able to keep up with him. He's nice enough that he stopped for me a few times before I begged hime to go one so I could ease back and he could ride at his pace. Not sure the eBike would've even kept me close to him.
Hey Shane, I’m 6’3” 230. I spent about a year getting my suspension feeing good. Fox 36 on my YT Jeffsy. Max volume spacers and sub 90psi, 1 click on rebound and open compression. The biggest improvement was going to a coil shock. The coil provided massive improvement. Mark at Truly Spokin in Milton is a wizard, he may have helpful input. Hope you get it dialed
So glad to see you getting the suspension dialed. Nothing is better than finally getting to where you want to be when it comes to suspension. The Zeb did the sama thing for me on my ebike. And hey, we great to run into you at Jarrod's yesterday. I really appreciated the advice and the demo you did on the gap before the whoops. Now that I've got that in my head, I'll hit it myself soon. Thanks brother!
Great video 📹! Back in March I crashed out in the mud on my very first run down the Drop Out trail at the 2:45 point of this video. When I get a chance, I'll be going back for my redemption 😅!
@shaneridesmtb From this month until March of next year, I'm going to be all over the place! I think I'm going to start taking Monday off for the rest of this year.
I'm glad you're sorted. My rear shock was dying and finally blew a few weeks ago. Lost some confidence in my tech ability because it took me too long to realize it was my shock not me. Now with a new coil set up on the rear of my ebike it's been an absolute game changer. So glad to see this new video.
For the record, if you change your fork out in the bike park parking lot it will creak hahaha and yes, I think the dust got to me and I'm talking funny. I'm not sick I don't think, but I am a little stuffed up. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for coming out and filming man! Doing the best we can with what we've got! The place is only about 80 acres. Was originally hunting land, that was cut for timber a few years ago. We didn't realize the elevation change was as good as it was, and eventually ended up talking to Jody and decided to do something with the property. I've been driving up pretty frequently to help maintain some fields with the bushhog, and occasionally when it's needed I'll cut in a new trail or move some dirt around. It's come a long way, I need to get back on my rig and ride again.
@@shaneridesmtb back in the day people thought it was an indicator for gold. But it’s usually a very fine almost powder quartz. Silvery/ gold. In the early mornings or sunsets it’ll shine and looks like there’s a gold path. Pretty cool stuff.
A lot of there area has that in the dirt. It’s mostly from the impact crater. The town of Wetumpka has info about it in the downtown square. It’s everywhere at Swayback Bridge trails
I have one. It’s not consistent at all. Since posting this, I have talked with some very knowledgeable people and I believe we’ve found a solution. Thanks!
Awesome video as always! It was good to see you and your crew at the park. Snowshoe is a different animal with the number of trails and some of them being so very long. I completely agree it's worth the long trip out.
It was awesome to see you guys! I really hate we didn’t get to ride together more, but I was on the struggle bus 😆 I’ll be up your way soon and I’ll let you know ahead of time
Just how big are you Shane? I'm 6 foot 240 pounds. My Salsa trail bike has FOX DPS shock and FOX 34 fork. Suspension sucked until I installed an MRP ramp control cartridge in the fork and put a Vorsprung suspension volume spacer in the DPS shock. With those I was able to dramatically drop initial pressure and restore small bump sensitivity that was unfound with the pressures needed to get sag right at my weight. My Fezzari LaSal Peak has the Rockshox Zeb 170 and Rockshox Ultimate Deluxe shock. Interestingly, it's the first air suspension that felt good after just setting sag by air pressure. No volume spacers needed unless Fezzari figured that out and set it up from the factory. Besides being heavy, I also ride heavy with a lot of weighting/unweighting and pumping rollers and berms. Doubt I shared anything you don't know already; but I hope you get it figured out to your satisfaction.
I'm 240lbs as well and ride heavy on the bike. Funny, I have a Timp Peak with the same Rockshox setup, basically the same bike as the La Sal but with a motor, and I can get it to work pretty good. AFTER adding some spacers and running was less sag on the shock than recommended. I just put my full Rockshox set up back on this frame with the exact settings as my ebike plus a progressive air can and rode it for the first time this morning. I think I'm going to get it in a decent spot. We'll see when I get to try it out on some rowdy faster trails.
you need a tuner with a shock dyno bec they put your frame kinematics into the dyno and see what settings and valving that will suit you best for the type of riding.. Trail labs or suspension syndicate can help you..
Mine were hurting after about 30 seconds. I've since found something wrong with the fork. I've got it off and am going to send it for a full rebuild/service.
I don't think you're out of the size at all brother but I do think you ride heavier than most people I've ridden with. I have a terrible time with setting mine up, and still don't have KSL right after almost two years...
That's Armuchi? I saw that they were smoothing it out a couple weeks ago. But I haven't been to Jarrod's because of all the rain we've had. I didn't want to head over there and run into a monsoon or worse find out some of the fun trails are closed down. Bummer on the suspension. Is that with the new Lyrick fork you purchased for your Transition? You've been messing with that for.a couple of months.
That is the new armuchi. Yeah the rain has been hit or miss for a while huh? When I built this bike I put on a used zeb I had, then bought the new one right before they released the newest one 🤦🏻♂️ and while I was hurt and off the bike I thought I’d try something completely different and got a super z. None of them have I had any luck with, so I’m positive it’s something I’m doing wrong.
