Hey! I'm Ashley ~ an American currently living in the Netherlands. I create vlogs/videos about my daily life + travel adventures.

Welcome and thank you for checking out this channel!

I'm originally from North Carolina. My husband is in the military, so we move around the world about every one to three years. We’ve lived in Germany, Georgia, Alaska, South Korea, and currently live in the Netherlands. I love traveling and exploring each new “home” location and sharing those experiences on this channel.

I hope these videos entertain you, show you something new, or encourage you to explore more!

What happened to your posts? I have been enjoying them. My husband is currently job hunting and your Korean videos have been calming me down. But just today he mentioned he has an interview in Belgium. So I’m flabbergasted that your videos came up in my feed. I thought you might like to know your work is helping someone.

Awesome video. I used to live in Fairbanks and I still miss the beauty, the rugged, adventurous feel yet still urbanized enough to have most things you need. Wish I could still live there, but life happens. Nice to see the sights again this way though.

You can check the USAjobs .gov website for openings. From what I've heard, there aren't many jobs for nurses on base and some volunteer with the Red Cross.

I see you PCSed since this video (Korea to Netherlands, what a dream 🥹), but I was wondering if you bought your houseplants in Korea or if you were able to bring them with you. We went through the agricultural inspection process when we PCSed to/from Hawaii with my plants, but I’m struggling to find any info on Korea. If you know if it’s possible, I’d love to hear about it. ❤

Where do you store outdoor type items since there seem to be few garages? I..e lawn mower, surfboards, kayak, bicycles etc. Thx!!
@AshleyRoberts80
@AshleyRoberts80 8 месяцев назад
We had an enclosed attached sun room right off the kitchen area. It wasn't heated, but it did have A/C. That's where we stored our bikes and other some other items. We had our lawn mower and other outdoor equipment stored in a long-term storage facility in the US before moving to Korea. I'm not sure what other people do with that kind of stuff if they live in apartments or villas.

What's the commute like to Humphreys? If you could give some insight it would be much appreciated :) I'm considering Osan or Suwon if I can live off base, personally
@ajum89
@ajum89 9 месяцев назад
From Osan commute will be at least 40 minutes if you drive. Suwon is further away from Humphreys. The subway from Suwon or Osan will bring you to the Pyeongtaek station, but that is still a 12- 15 minute taxi ride to the gate of Humphreys and costs 12500 won as of now.

@AshleyRoberts80

Road bikes are more common. However, there are mountain bike trails around Korea. I don't know of any specifically around Pyeongtaek, but you could look into the AllTrails app, Bukhansan National Park, and Taeanhaean National Park.

Hi!!! Love the vid! ^_^ Quick question - did you guys find it hard to 1) drive around the island and 2) find parking wherever you went? I'm planning a trip to jeju but I'm leaning more towards using public transportation/kakao taxi vs renting a car because I'm not great at parallel parking/feel like it'd be less of a hassle parking wise...ty!!!
@AshleyRoberts80
@AshleyRoberts80 Год назад
Hi! Driving around the island felt less stressful than driving on the mainland. There were big open parking lots at the major attractions we visited (tea fields, Innisfree House, Seongsan Ilchulbong, the waterfall). We also walked to restaurants and other places near our hotel. Using public transportation/taxi is definitely an option, but renting a car offered us more flexibility, and driving didn't feel really stressful for us. Also, keep in mind that we visited in December. Traffic is most likely heavier during the summer months.
@gabs1937
@gabs1937 Год назад
@@AshleyRoberts80 Ohhh, that makes sense! I'm planning on going July/August-ish, so that's tipping more to me thinking I won't drive lol...still thinking about it but I probably won't rent a car lol. thanks for the advice!!!

@AshleyRoberts80
@AshleyRoberts80 Год назад
Hi, happy to hear you are enjoying the videos! He gets orders every 1-3 years depending on his assignment. There is a list of assignments/locations that he ranks in order of preference when it is time to move. Korea was one of his top choices, so yes, we wanted to come to Korea.

Hello mam whatbis the best month to go to jeju?
@AshleyRoberts80
@AshleyRoberts80 Год назад
Hi. Jeju is great to visit any time of the year and really depends on what you like to do. We've only been in early December. The weather was pleasant to us (around 55F), but too cold for swimming. If you want to enjoy the beach and water sports, then probably May - August is best. You can see the cherry blossoms in April, and the Fall colors in October.

Hi Ashley!! I first came across your channel when we found out we were moving to Korea. We have been here almost 5 months now. Been quite the adjustment for our children especially. Did the military take you guys to the Netherlands? I have friends there who are American and also Army if you should need anything. Can I ask, between Asia and Europe, which do you think you like better?
@AshleyRoberts80
@AshleyRoberts80 Год назад
Hi! Yes, we are here with the military. We've only lived in Germany, Netherlands, and Korea, so that is the extent of my experience with Asia and Europe, but based on that, I think I prefer Europe. Coming from a Western culture to an Eastern culture (Korea) took some time for us to adjust to as well. The worst part about Korea IMO is the air quality. The best part about Korea is the low crime rate. I felt really safe there.
@kburnette7524
