We hiked the EPIC Sliding Sands trail in Haleakala National Park, located on Maui, Hawaii. Haleakala is a dormant shield volcano. The Sliding Sands trail starts at 9,740 feet elevation and is an 11 mile out and back trail. The AllTrails app rates this trail as hard. We hiked 3 miles down and turned around for a total of 6 miles. It took us 4 hours and 45 minutes to hike 6 miles. The views were out of this world!!!

The Sliding Sands trail is located within the Haleakala National Park. It costs $30 per vehicle to enter the park. Active duty military can apply for a free National Park pass with ID.
