Just like what @portalmasterry6765 said for the most part. I've caught quite a few keepers last week and that video is coming up next week so there's still some keepers roaming the river system.
I totally understand. Just remember to be patient and don't set the hook when you get those small bites because they are undersized fish only. Allow your bait to have a chance for a big fish to come by and take it. And If the undersized fish pick your hook clean, oh well. You wouldn't be able to keep them anyways even if you were able to hook them small ones. BE Patient and good luck!
Not really, using the circle hook requires you to be more patient to allow the fish to essentially hook themselves. I'm sure you can do the same with a J hook, but you'll more likely gut hook the fish with J hooks.
You are right that there are alot of shakers around, but I was out this last weekend and we slayed them. Im working on editing that video now. My suggestion is look for a spot that is a little deeper. They tend to hold the bigger fish.
🤣I was thinking the same when I was having a hard time seeing the numbers when I was editing the video. I got you, I'll be picking up a new tape measure soon. Thanks for watching!
Yeah theres still plenty of fish. I always use 6oz weight becuase it is better to use a heavier weight when using a circle hook. I park on the streets and yes they do charge for parking bro.
Thanks for watching and commenting. Between the three trips, the first trip was a week and a half ago and the last trip was less than a week ago. Also, I went back there a few days ago and we landed some nice ones. I am currently editing that video and it will post on my channel next week.
This was about a week ago I think. I got newer videos from a few days ago that Im working on right now so there's definitely still stripers in the system.
There definitely is. I was out last week and we tore them up. I got a few more striper videos from last week coming up on my channel, btw. The fish are making their way back to the ocean so if you fish the sac river, they will be spawned out(skinny).
@@Bplqylist I've been fishing West Sacramento as recently as last week and catching them so the fish are on their way down to the Freeport area for sure. It is all about timing, you gotta be there when they are around in order to catch them, but as you know it is difficult to predict when that will be. But if you plan to head out to Freeport this weekend, look for deeper waters to increase your chances of getting keepers.
@@calloftheoutdoors8941 thank you , you been such help. I’m new to fishing. But I had one more thing. What kind fish are in verona in sac and feather river around June July
That's right John. I am not familiar with Georgiana Slough so I had to Google it. Georgiana Slough looks like the current might be a little too strong for these crappie though, but I can't say for sure since I have not tried yet. Have you?
@@calloftheoutdoors8941 I have fished it, it's loaded with crawdads, best locations are the mouth and at the Ox-Bow marina. But you might be right about the current. Another good location is Beaver Slough and the S. Mokelumne River.
i use 4 lb line main line tied to either a fly or a 1/16 oz jighead with a 1 inch curly tail. About 6 ft above the jighead, I attached a weighted 2.5 inch bobber.
Sup Andy! I got some flies from Steven a few days ago to show support to my fellow lure makers. Now that I know you make them too, I'll hit you up before the shad season ends to get some of the flies from ya.
Sure thing. Freeport Market is not only a bait shop for fishermen, but has expanded to being a fishing store for everything you need. Thank you for watching.
