I use to get my cans from cabalas but they don't keep them in stock in the store ,you order on line then in 2 to3 weeks they ship to store ,hate that ,harbor freight have plenty in stock in the store ,
The one issue I had with a HF can was a bad spot weld on latch attached to the can. HF exchanged it with no problem. Just check it before you leave the store
Go to an army surplus store and buy a 20mm ammo box they make great for storage food and other supplies that you're going to need to survive before Joe Biden gets out of office
I watched your video and then decided I was gonna go get some. They're on sale for inside track club members today. I don't know when the sale's over though. The current batch says they're made in Vietnam. So that's better than made in china in my book.
WHAT ABOUT STOREING AMMO IN THESE AMMO CAN,S IN A OUTSIDE METAL BUILDING THAT IS OUT IN THE WEATHER NO CLIMATE CONTROL IN ALL SORT,S OF WEATHER WILL THESE HARBOR FREIGHT AMMO STORAGE BOX,S KEEP MY AMMO DRY AND GOOD IN THIS TYPE OF CONDITIONS
I buy those cans from Harbor Freight because if I would buy the plastic ones, all my relatives that were in the U S service that are in heaven now will come down and slap me upside the head and tell I'm a fool.
I wonder how many military veteran's cremated remains rest in a U.S. GI ammo can ? Maybe have medals, service records, pictures and other keepsakes included. Maybe a engraved brass plaque riveted to the outside.
Good demo. Been sold on these a long time, even the plastic ones. On the plastic ones there is frequently a burr/sharp edge that MAY keep the gasket from sealing but it's easily & quickly fixed with a small file.
You do realize that by putting the weight on the top to keep it from floating, you're actually helping the seal compress down and invalidating the test right?
The thing about harbor freight is they are dismissed by snobby people but it’s actually a great store. It fills a need. Not to mention, if you know what to buy, you’ll save hundreds or thousands of dollars. For example, Harbor Freight car jacks are absolutely as good or better than Snap on. Their Apache cases are practically as good as pelican. These ammo cans work excellent. If you know what they make well, you can save a fortune. I also have had excellent luck with their foldable trailers. I opted for one over a Lowes trailer of the same size. Saved 800 bucks and this trailer from Harbor freight is actually better for what I needed in the end. Just know what they make well and you’re good.
Harbor freight: home of disposable tools and more. Military surplus is alot better. I know there are some civilian versions of Military items that are better than Military, but harbor freight items are trash.
A 20 minute immersion without temperature cycling is really meaningless. A more useful test is to put in a cubic inch of dry ice and then immerse. You will know in 1 minute if the seals are good and tight.
Thanks alot for your hard work. i "salvaged " a few of these from Uncle Sam, back in 1976 -79. I kinda feel guilty, kinda, but they were gonna just be lost to someone else at that time, if you know what i mean. i am guilty. Enough said.
Yeah it works when it's brand new but that gasket might dry out really quick if it was made in China might want to put some 303 protectant on it just to keep it supple
In building your medical kit, if you don't have access to blood clotting items, just put in some Covid 19 shots and boosters. The ones from Pfizer work best from what we are seeing in the field.
great Video. question I'm looking for foam inserts for these 50cal boxes. is there a site that offers foam that I can customize? either for ammo or to transport pistols etc.
I bought my ammo box from Walmart it holds my 6MM AMMO BBS FOR MY RC USA M1A2 WALKER BULLDOG & MY RC M1A2 USA MARINES US ABRAMS TANKS BY HENGE LONG RC COMPANY / LIKE THEY SAY IN THE MOVIE MARK MY WORD YOU WILL SHOOT YOUR EYE OUT KID !
I like the kit and make a lot of my own I have also found large bottle carriers on a mail order site that are a little larger than what you are showing here and they work great but having trouble finding cups and lids. The side pouch is large enough to hold my folding sling shot along with other things simular to what you are carrying I attach both to my backpack one to a side and carry a small first aid kit and fire starter kit in the pouch of that one. Good idea about the pouch you added to the shoulder strap and will be getting 2. Of them soon for my shoulder straps. Also where did you get the Mora knife? Can't find them any where's and is it full tang or partial tang?
I like to put a little Vaseline or petroleum jelly are the gasket. you ask why one Vaseline prevents rubber from rotting to it makes it pliable and a better seal preventing any kind of water
