Great video and I LOVE your nails! I am a medical coder but am interviewing for a medical receptionist position next week! I'm excited but nervous...I was wondering....if you call the patients to confirm their appointments and they DON'T answer or call back...does the office just notate it and they still keep their slot or does it get released? Thanks!

Medical offices are not as kickback as this example. It depends on the type of service like if its family practice, pediatrics or a specialist and so on. This office I believe is podiarty and she states its not a super busy place a she prefers. Medical offices are great to work in and alot of times for receptionists on the job training is all you need. That is if the practice is looking to train but its no any different than any other receptionists position or office job where you work with the public you just have to pay attention and learn medical language and insurance (not hard to catch on). The only pitfall is pay because in most offices raises arent great at all so getting experience and then moving on to another specialty is the only way to make more money. It is a rewarding career that is mostly fast paced and you hustle daily to get patients in and out and get ready for the next day. I spent 25 years in medical and loved it but at some point it does burn you out especially when you have alot of experience, because you end up with a ton of responsibilities in addition to your regular job. Being openminded will get you in an office but hard work and dedication plus knowing how to work fast will give you a career!!
@doloresleyva8810
@doloresleyva8810 3 месяца назад
In addition I hope people watching this dont get the wrong impression as to how it all works.lol😅 The medical field is typically a fast paced environment where patients are coming in to be checked in, insurance verification has to be run at every appointment , follow up appointments are being made when the patient is leaving, copays and deductibles are collected, referrals and authorizations are prioritized daily, sometimes patients need to be roomed, communication with drs and staff is a constant need, future visits have to be booked and other daily tasks are assigned. In my experience of 25 years I had no time to have a snack at the desk or time to work in a slow pace because I myself ran the show alone at that front desk or there were usually 2 of us handling dozens of patients and tasks for the office. Medical offices do vary on skills needed and amount of work to be done but the majority are fast paced. It is a very important job and I wouldnt change any of my career. It was very high energy and very fulfilling. The only thing I would want these videos to show is how it really is on a day to day basis.

Why arent you verifying benefits online ? Its so much easier. The majority of insurers have online portal for benefits , referrals and prior auth request. Being on the phone is a huge waste of time. Get online ... 😅
@doloresleyva8810
@doloresleyva8810 4 месяца назад
Im surprised no head set to use the phone and not generating referrals by computer and faxing through the computer. The days of hand written referrals and correspondence are a thing of the past and majority of Insurance is verified online and authorizations are done online. Offices are virtually paperless in 2024. Get updated and you can streamline your processes

it was hard for me to watch this video, because the receptionist kept playing in her hair it was very distracting, as a professional you have pinned your hair up, and not keep looking into the camera. but other than that I think she did a good job
@Bidibidibunny
@Bidibidibunny 2 месяца назад
Quite honestly she’s providing no patient care so the hair isn’t bothering anyone. Also this isn’t really supposed to be an educational video even tho it could serve as that purpose. You are entitled to your opinions just sharing some perspective Mildred :)

I have 3 jobs that I have to choose between. One of them requires calling in rx and getting pre- approvals. I was having a hard time deciding but your video really helped me to eliminate one of them. If being on hold and transferring calls take this long for 1-3 calls I would go crazy. Thanks for doing what you do!

@thebrockdock8805

It might be a good idea to censor out the dial sounds because some of the information you’re putting in seems pretty sensitive which could be a potential HIPAA violation to be putting on a RU-vid video.

25 years experience as a medical office receptionist and this is not a good example of how it really is 😅. It is a fast paced career that keep you on your feet. She must be working on a Friday when some offices do catch up work and no patients coming in or it's during some rare downtime. 😅. She is not utilizing insurance online portals where most of this phone work can be done via computer in virtually just a few minutes. I am retired now and would never change my experiences as it is a very rewarding job. The girl here almost looks bored with what she is doing but like I stated she's on down time or it's a smaller practice. We had no time for snacking and hanging on hold for insurance and we evolved into FastTracking our daily tasks primarily online. Good luck with your endeavors just be fairly informed that this is not how it truly is.😅
