Ive got 2 weeks until im back in Telluride for a group ski Trip. Learned to ski here last January and am eager to get back, you covered the mountain well and have made me even more anxious to get back after watching this video!

David,Also looking at 25-27 Catalina's. Sailing a 22 now that is owned by the Sailing club I belong too. Lake sailing, but a BIG lake, and as I am 8 hours from the ocean, it works fine. My question is, What is the head room in the 25 when sitting ? There isn't much in the 22. Thanks, jeff
I'll post an update in the coming weeks. I haven't been able to spend as much time sailing as I had hoped. I'm getting ready for the Annapolis boat show this week!
David: Looks clean and well cared for. I've also been looking for a Catalina 25 (for my first boat). I've looked at several but didn't pull the trigger on them. Is there anything that you looked for in this particular boat that was a deal breaker for purchasing? Maybe I'm expecting too much so just wanted to hear from others on expectations, deal breakers, etc. I'll be following you. Thanks. Paul
Thanks, Paul! I looked at several boats as well, many of which had some problems (which is to be expected on a boat this old). This boat has its share of small projects, but nothing major that I've found so far. As far as dealbreakers, I was trying to avoid boats that had soft spots on the deck, or that had extensive gel coat cracking. I didn't want something that I'd have to spend months rebuilding or refurnishing, and that I could enjoy with my girlfriend who is new to sailing.
@@pauldavidson2520 I looked at a lot of boats. You just have to nail down what you really need to get started. I really wanted a big offshore boat, but as I currently live in DFW, that's not practical. So instead, I opted for a smaller boat that does everything I need it to do.
@@davidhuval Yep, we were in Dallas for a while, but recently moved to Bentonville, AR. Huge man-made lake so we are looking for a 25 or something similar.
This is one of the worst presentations they have ever seen. Most of the time you focus on meaningless trivial details. How many times do I have to watch drawer being open and closed? And the instability of holding the camera is nauseating
I would also check the bulkheads. I have seen 2 Lagoon 440's with busted bulkheads. It seems around the year 2000 Lagoon went cheap on their bulkheads.
that's the first thing to check , rigging needs replacing , one would have to go right over the sails , just about pull everything out of the rally and upgrade , upgrade electrics to completely off grid , BIG JOB , motors need pulling out and rebuilt , props .. prop shaft and gears need rebuilding , all stainless steel in bathrooms and else where needs replacing , anchor chain needs replacing ........ and the list goes on
Right, and by the time you fix what you find broken on that catamaran 15 more things will pop up. Best to stay away from a boat that hasn't been maintained or overhauled...
if you got it for around $100,000 or less one might be able to do ok with it , needs a fair few upgrades plus you can never believe what your told so you could halve what's been told , it makes you wonder why they buy these things then let them go with hardly any maintenance
I've bought project boats before and made money on them. This cat would take a lot of work to make it work properly. I would think a proper price on this boat to be around $60,000.00. Then put another $60,000.00 into it and you would have a nice cruising boat that would take you around the world if you were inclined to do so. Properly give you, with care, another 20 years of good sailing.
